1. Agree wholeheartedly that the sweet spot for WR’s is mid first round in this years draft, very curious on which flavor the Jets choose.
2. WR depth for most teams in the NFL isn’t good., Depth is a common problem. Jets with the new TE’s may only carry 5 WR’s
3. The Scrubeenies, with the exception of Tariq Black ( one month) all have a year in the system. It just takes one to step up. Great opportunity for Mims.
4. In Free Agency it’s all about price. There is no reason Valdes Scantling is still available unless he is asking for crazy money. Love to have Cole back, but would like to point out, that Crowder made 10 million in 2020, 6 million last year, signed this year with Buffalo for 4 million.. Coles needs to take a haircut.
Good read. Jets will definitely trade a pick, although the rumor is it will be for a pick next year. Assuming JD also signs a vet after the draft, London or Smith is best match for Zach’s BYU tendencies but maybe Zach will be different next year. On the picks, seems odd but I can see a scenario where Jets focus on the D line with the first two selections. I say this because I think the coaches believe they can coach up CBs and they scored a CB1 in free agency.
That's a very good shout, I can't help but think Cole will be the one to return and I wouldn't hate it at all. MVS would be a splashier move, but as you alluded to below, it probably comes down to what he's asking in terms of $$
It’s important to note , that Feeney & Joyner returned to the Jets after taking minor haircuts from last years salary ( approximately 500,000). To be fair they did receive substantial guarantees. This seems to be Douglas’s mindset. Keenan’s haircut could be a little larger because of a lack of urgency, and a larger salary of 5.5. Keep saying Crowder took a 2 million hit. It’s always tough to take less money, guarantees and incentives could soften the blow but 4 million is fair. Douglas will wait until after the draft if necessary.
I think it was a tremendous mistake to leave such a glaring need heading into the draft. Jets could have acquired Amari Cooper or even Robert Woods via trade and not be as pressed into coming away from the draft with a starting caliber receiver.
Great read, as always David.

Signing a Vet after the draft, wise, a major price drop. Two Defensive Lineman in the First is highly probable, after addressing CB & Safety in FA
