Incredibly bittersweet, heavy on the bitter. I never thought I’d feel as gutted as this after a Jets win in 13 years of supporting them.
The only silver lining about the qb is that he isn’t turning it over - and he probably got away with that circus act in the first quarter - but he needs to show something. I am dreading this week’s game.
Mike La Fleur and whoever is responsible for the rushing play designs has shown enough over the last few weeks that there is still grounds for optimism there, but I can’t see how the qb can be trusted against a Patriots defence, nor will they be able to win with passing lines like the ones he’s been putting up in the last three games.
Ahmad in Arabic means “the [one who is the] most praised”, so the boy is definitely living up to his name. Reed is also having a superb season.
You're absolutely right. I worry about Zach because fundamentally he hasn't shown me enough growth in terms of reading the defense, footwork and patience in the pocket and accuracy. The issue now is that he's going to be forced to do more and it's not ideal for the first game to be against Bill. I think we'll see a Michael Carter takeover as he is extremely talented, but Wilson needs to step up.
I would say this is now the perfect time to get Moore to buy back in. With Hall likely done for the year we need the passing attack to perform and there will be more opportunities to go around.
100% on Moore. There’s nothing wrong with him being upset about his usage, but you just have to hope that he hasn’t burnt too many bridges internally and that he’s allowed to redeem himself - if he’s prepared to eat the humble pie and so on.
Yeah, I'm sure his attitude rubbed players up the wrong way. Sauce in particular seems to have taken a little offense to it. Mims said yesterday about the team winning so he's happy, Uzomah the same. He will need to do some apologizing in that locker room, but hopefully he understands the situation.
Denver has an awesome defense. Jets gutted that win out and showed a lot of mental fortitude. Next up, Zack and Lafleur against a defensive genius. We will learn a lot about where Zack is at in that game and what our offense actually can do since, sadly, we won’t have Breece or AVT to lean on.
I think that's the plan. Fant is eligible to return this week but Saleh said he won't play, so next week is the earliest we can expect him back. Mitchell is eligible to return next week, so we'll have to see how he's doing later in the week.
Totally in synch with you - actually lost a tad of sleep. We have this great record and good team but a bit cncerned we dont have the QB yet. We will not get a top pick next year. Here comes Bellicheck who eats rookie QBs
If Hebertt hrew 50 times on the same defense and didnt get a TD then Wilson shouldbt be judged to harshly yet. He completed one year of games but last year no one was really on the team. I am concerned as he seems to get hyped up and canrt control himself with balls sailing. 5-2 and heading home for 2 big ones - who would jave thunk it !
Absolutely. I think I'm just saying there are some concerning trends, didn't expect him to light up Denver but should he have completed that 15 yard pass to CJ? Absolutely. Should he have stayed in the pocket a little bit more instead of vacating at the first sign of pressure? Absolutely. I think we're going to learn a lot about Zach over the coming weeks.
Initially I thought it was a head injury for Hall. I still haven't seen a replay showing how the knee was injured. Hopefully it's a sprain or something.
Yeah the way he went down it didn't look great, got hit my numerous players and his face going off seemed to suggest he knew it was serious. Saleh will talk to the media today so we'll have to see but I'm expecting the worst.
I definitely concur with your comments regarding Hall, Sauce and Moore.
What I failed to understand was why Denver suddenly stopped their gang rushing of Zack at the end of the game when it had been so disruptive from the beginning. Could it be that the thin air wore down the home team?
Sorry in advance for this quibble but I am reasonably positive that Mimms got a reception of maybe 4 yards. I'm just pulling for a kid really trying to do things right.
You're absolutely right on Mims, he had one catch for 4 yards and I just missed it. I'm absolutely pulling for him and thought he largely had a good game and his seperation number was excellent (that'll be in tomorrows newsletter). I'm not sure why they stopped, most of the Denver lineman only played between 50-60% of snaps, although they bring a lot of heat from their linebackers and they were constantly on the field.
It was tough to watch but having watched the Game in 40 replay this morning it was great to be able to appreciate that defensive performance.
Zach looked good in Pittsburgh but seems to have taken backward steps since then. Having said that for a lot of yesterday he was playing with a reshuffled line again against a top 5 D. Yes I’m making excuses but I still think he’s got what it takes, we just need to see more of it.
Yeah we have to say that both Green Bay and Denver have very good pass defences, I'm not sold on Zach having what it takes but I'm still hopeful. His accuracy concerns me the most and his reluctance to stay in the pocket. On occasions I thought him abandoning the pocket early led to the pressure. It's going to be interesting to see him against New England as he'll almost certainly have to do more.

Zach Wilson played poorly but -
-he was under duress. We need to block for him.
-so many penalties pushed us into 3rd and long
-most QB's were terrible against the Denver D
-avoided turnovers for 3 games, that's huge
-he was houdini in avoiding the rush. Eventually it'll catch up to him. We need to block
-despite the long Breece TD, it looked like we barely had any holes for Michael Carter. We must do better this week
We need him to settle in and get some rhythm
When does Fant and Mitchell get back? Maybe Fant can take over at RT.

Fantastic. Hoping Brown is healthy enough to make it to the bye week so he can rest. Mitchell goes back to swing tackle.
