Two Coaches that are 20 year veteran coaches have made a difference. John Benton Offensive line Coach and Run game coordinator, has kept this Offensive Line afloat despite crippling injuries.. The development of AVT, Max Mitchell & Nate Herbig has been impressive. Tony Oden is the secondary coach that has stabilized the Safeties, and is responsible for the quick development of Sauce & Echols. (watch Tony Adams)
Runner up , Brant Boyer, his Special Team Units just make plays. As always , I bang the drum for the Athletic Performance & Health Dept. Partially responsible for that Fourth Quarter Dominance, and the reduction of those soft tissue injuries, thanks JD
Absolutely agree there. I was very close to giving it to Benton but I think because Ulbrich's been on the hot seat so much, I thought he deserved a little praise.
One other guy who I considered was Marquand Manuel who's the defensive backs and safeties coach, working under Oden but I've heard nothing but good things about him and how key he's been for all of the guys in the secondary.
I agree with giving shout outs to Benton and Oden ( Especially Benton for managing all of the injuries. The O-line is playing well above replacement level. )
Brant Boyer is one of my favorites. Our specials are very good. Now the negative. I was at the Jet-Pats game and their specials schooled ours. They were much better without a doubt. It will be interesting to see how they play in Foxboro.
Another great article DWH. While one can always have their own view on awards, it is hard to argue with your selections. I do wish JFM could clean up those roughing calls. It is really hard, sometimes impossible, to know how one is allowed to hit the QB but one has to adjust their game to the way it is being called. Having said that, I thought the hit on ZW on the three yard line late in Sunday's game was a clear shot to the head and nothing was called. There is little consistency which tempers my slight criticism of of JFM.
Thought you’d give comeback player to Lawson. He came back from an actual injury and not simply play below his career norm. Plus, it’s the presence of Lawson that has allowed Q to take that next step we all knew he had in him (plus JJ, plus Huff, plus Clemons, etc).
And you left out the asterisk next to Sauce’s award. If Breece Lightning doesn’t get injured and lost for the season this is a two and a half horse race with Breece possibly in the lead.
Great work as usual and here’s to more fun in the weeks ahead.
You're absolutely right about Lawson and it's something that didn't come to mind when looking at it. I don't even think we've seen the best of him yet, hopefully he unlocks that down the stretch and we can give that award to him at the end of the season.
Great job David, no arguments w/ the caveat mentioned elsewhere about Lawson as "Come Back Player".
As for the coaches, I read an interesting article on Fox Sports yesterday about Dan Shamash who is our "Situational Football Coach" (that's kind of a made-up title). Very interesting, he's the guy who actually tells Saleh the things you're shouting from your couch, like "spike it, run clock, go outta bounds, kick it" etc. here is the link:
The only thing I wish could be changed would be Offensive Player of the Year....that's no slight on Garrett, it would just mean that Breece wasn't injured..

Well said my friend. This is so much fun this season. It’s been a long road but we are finally on the right road!

Thanks for all you do.
I look forward to every email article from you, good stuff!
Thank you. Really appreciate you taking the time to read.
David, once again I thank you for your excellent work. It’s a real treat that is very much appreciated on my group page!👍. Have a great weekend.
Enjoyed reading all of the awards and agree with your recipients.
My most entertaining play award has to be given to Q for his stiff arm on Tyrek Hill. I wish he would have scored on the return!

Yessss!
Good point! 👍

Read this yesterday, so good!
agree with everything except JFM - undisciplined penatlties do not make him defense player of the year so far
I was reading this article and debating our focus
Nice idea for yours.
Zach Wilson needs to look like our QB by EOY. E Moore needs to get back on track.

It's so refreshing to have coaches we believe in!
You forget he has competition - Becton & AVT. Not guaranteed.

Absolutely right, would have loved to have had Breece in here. But that comeback player of the year is made for him next year.
