I won’t be discussing the draft, free agents or who the new GM and coach will be, none of it ever seems to matter the end product is the same. This year is the worst year I have ever had as a fan, it is more than embarrassing. Maybe I will tune in for the first game next year just to see what going on, the Jets have finally destroyed my hope that they will put a product on the field worth watching. They have a “Must Win” game and aren’t even competitive in any way shape or form. I agree with David that the players low energy is Bull Shit if that is the case they should not be on a football field.

Don't blame you Scott. Unfortunately I have to, otherwise I'd be exactly the same.

David, TJW is the best thing about the Jets. I will continue to start my day with it and of course the commentary from the “Torch and Pitchfork Brigade”. There is a lot of good information plus some really good humor. Maybe I will just laugh like so many others at this sad excuse of a team.

Mike Williams was signed to be the Jets deep receiver, He ran specific routes. His height was a factor in the routes he ran.

When he was still imprisoned in Florham Park, the Jets in dire need of a long sideline completion, called his specialty.

Except for one itsy bitsy teeny change, instead of calling on 6’4 Williams to run the route, the Jets offensive brain trust had 5’9 Xavier Gipson do it. We know how that ended.

Of course Williams fell out of favor from GM/HC/starting quarterback Rodgers and was barely used.

Rodgers did a fantastic job of throwing him under the bus.

Do you know why the Steelers are so successful, because they have an organization that is top shelf.

Tomlin is only the third HC since 1969.

Yesterday, with about 2 1/2 minutes to play, needing a td to win, the Steelers put the newly acquired Mike Williams in.

They called his specialty, you know the results.

Game winning td. As he crossed the goal line, if you look hard, you can see the bus tire marks.

It was just one play but it showed why Pittsburgh is a great organization from ownership all the way down to the ball boys, while the Jets constantly suck.

I spoke to a Steelers friend of mine yesterday morning and said that Mike Williams will do well for you, he's a good receiver we just had no idea how to use him, and as soon as he upset king Rodgers his time was up with us. Then what do you know, they send him on a vertical, put air under the ball and let him do what he does.

And that’s why the Jets always lose, why did JD sign him if he wasn’t going to be used properly

I honestly don’t think it’s a good idea to put any comments here today because my mom taught me the old rule “ if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.! 🤬. David, I thank you for your service!

There isn’t enough air freshener in the world that’s capable of covering up the stench that permeates out of the N Y Stinks team headquarters in Florham Park.

In a game that they needed to win, the NY Stinks probably played one of the worst games in team history.

Sorry I said play, because the effort given by the defense yesterday did not resemble anything shown by the other 31 NFL teams.

How many times have we heard a HC say that the team had a great week of practice and then they proceeded to get blown out.

Well, soon to be unemployed, interim HC Ulbrich said that the extra time was spent this week on tackling. Any Jet fan with a modicum of intelligence knew what was coming. The NY Stinks missed 20 tackles.

Did I mention it was a game they needed to win.

In case everyone forgot, the Jets were on a 10 day rest, they last played on Halloween.

All week, all we heard was that the Cardinal’s rushing attack would destroy the Jets.

The Cards came out throwing and didn’t stop until they were up 30-6.

Murray set a new team record with 17 consecutive completions, going 22 for 24, 266 yds and 1 td. He also had 3 Carrie’s for 21 yds and 2 tds. Clemons another great job of holding the edge on the first td.

The Cards also had 132 yds rushing on 32 carries for a 4.6 average and 3 tds.

The Jet coaching staff never knew what hit them

Per Ulbrich, “After a long layoff there they were not prepared to play,” interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said. “We didn’t execute even close to our standard and that falls on my shoulders, 100 percent.”

What standard is that, coach.

Did I mention it was a game they needed to win.

It was a total annihilation of the Stinks vaunted defense.

Since every great defense needs a name, based on their performance yesterday and other games this year. Let me introduce you to The Green Sieve.

The Sieve really came through in a game they needed to win.

Not saying it would have made any difference, I think it’s fair to say that NFL officials are either crooked, blind or incompetent.

In the 2008 NFL opener, Tom Brady was sacked by a Chiefs defender that was on the ground. He grabbed Brady’s ankles causing a season ending knee injury. The NFL legislated the Brady Rule which penalized lower leg tackles on quarterbacks in the pocket.

I guess that rule wasn’t allowed to be called yesterday.

Rodgers was sacked, tackled by the ankles, Jets punted, commercial or two, referee starts the clock, Murray takes the snap, fumbles it, McDonald recovers it, referee says no play, do over

WHAT THE FUCK IS A DO OVER.

Between watching the Stinks imitating an NFL team and the official’s calls, that was it for me.

I Flipped the station to Tulsa King, fantastic show.

What happens every November, Thanksgiving, Xmas Shopping and for Jet Fans talking and studying for next year’s draft.

Of course, this also seems to coincide every four years with the presidential elections, Jet fans discussing who the new GM and HC will be.

Unfortunately the loyal, long, suffering fans cannot get the opportunity to discuss who the new owners can be.

Yes, yesterday’s game was a must win game.

We all agree a complete disaster in the dessert, the Roger’s experiment has been a total failure and the d has seriously regressed. The list is too long to cover here but what ails this team starts at the top and goes to the bottom as you say.

Despite the near weekly disappointment I appreciate the good work David. Enjoy the email each and every weekday.

If you get into what the future holds could you somehow/someway look at the GM/Head coaching positions through the lens of why Woody has never hired an experienced GM or Head coach? For nearly 25 years it’s always been the rising assistant GM, the rising coordinator coach etc. I believe the answer to this big question may enlightened us why this franchise is a futile endeavor and tragic misrepresentation of an NFL franchise.

Many thanks.

In reality, the NFL should fold the Jets franchise. It is an embarrassment to the NFL and to professional football. The state of NJ should kick both the Jets and the Giants out of NJ and send them packing back to NY.

I didn’t want Rogers, wanted Carr not sure if it would have been better but couldn’t be worse, hell with the talent on the team Zack might have been better than this.

It wil never ever end. Another bad record against the jets ( what was it 20 completions in a row). We have to endure watching Mile Williams cath the winning TD for another team. Then on top of that hear he came yo the steelers with a smile on his face. Meaning that Jet locker room is a disaster. Aaron Rogers has sucked the air out of the building. He need to be told - "You will not be back next year". OR no one is going there.

Damn straight, but i feel as though we said this at the time of the trade. Rodgers is a 'me first' guy, always has been, always will be. You can get away with that when you're playing at an MVP level. But he's playing at or below league average. Guy is not processing the field, he's missing wide open receivers. Time to just accept he's not the same QB he was.

We know it but does Woody

Expand full comment

Wrong question. Woody is, likely, more interested in whether NFL fans will buy Aaron Rodgers jerseys and whether his team will be discussed on ESPN. he should really just go back to London and cosplay as a diplomat again.

Isn’t it funny whenever Woody gets involved or putting bluntly thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room when it comes to football decisions, it turns into a disaster.

Favre, Tebow, Rodgers and could add Belichick to the list.

Contrary to what people think.

Woody wasn’t yet the official owner of the Jets when Belichick bolted.

Hess’s people were still in charge including the village idiot Steve Gutman.

Belichick did admit in later years that he had a sit down with Woody. Also admitted he really had more doubts after the meeting than before.

Though he is the most hated person in Jet history, Belichick is an NFL lifer, he is also relatively intelligent and has probably met a lot of good owners as well as bad. He probably had Woody pegged in about 20 minutes.

Woody is definitely the man behind the curtain. He definitely has no clue in how to run a successful franchise.

Woody is the so called curse.

There are no words other than to get the planes circling around the stadium with the words "Woody Sell" And the stadiun shud be empty for the remainder of the games. I feel sorry for all the people who have paid their hard earned money to see this. I can't even watch the condensed 40 minute version.

You could substitute business for franchise and still be spot on.

I don’t follow any other team.

Being a rangers fan, a question.

Woody barely beat out Dolan on the Jet purchase. NFL owners wanted no part of Guitar Jimmy, in your estimation would he have made a better Jet owner or would he have been like Woody, a silver spoon owner

First time in about 35 years that I DECIDED to not watch the game. That’s how bad I feel about the team…as you said, “top to bottom”. I was never a fan of getting Rodgers and although I don’t like being a Monday morning QB - this was one of the worst decisions Woody could have made…it was the catalyst for a huge downward spiral in so many ways. Everyone, from Woody down needs to go.

You are right on the button David, there's absolutely nothing to talk about after this disaster. And your inclusion of Bart Scott's take on "adjustments" was perfect. When I watched that segment of Jets Post Game, Bart Scott and Willie Colon were totally on point about the disaster. Whether it was the tackling "clinic" or the halftime "adjustments, they were right on point. Just pitiful. And you can see on their faces the "I'm done with this shit !" demeanor. It's sad to see.

I'd love to see reporting on what kind of contingencies teams take when they travel to play on the West Coast, in addition to playing on a long week. Games that aren't played on the same weekly schedule can feel strange and unreal, resulting in poor showings. I want to know what kinds of things head coaches do to mitigate that long week fatigue and the West Coast effect.

I'm also wondering what kind of tackling work they did. Sometimes, that extra focus can result in players overthinking things and trying to do something completely different. Completely different isn't always bad, but it definitely feels like there are a few guys (Sauce Gardner is the main culprit) who are out of sorts in terms of tackling technique. What was interesting about his missed tackle (actually, a legit broken tackle) of Trey McBride. It's like he was in between trying to hold up and tackle McBride. Was he trying to hold the dude up while reinforcements came? Was he trying to bring the dude down? It's hard to say, but it sure looked like he was in between and, as a result of trying to do two things at once, got out muscled.

I really think Rodgers' "leadership" has done serious damage to this group. Guys are looking to this strange anti-social guy for leadership and guidance and I'm skeptical that he's providing anything useful. The infusion of Davante Adams seems like it has introduced a weird dynamic in the locker room, as well. Who were the leaders of this group heading into the season? Are the leaders the same guys? Have certain leaders taken a step back to provide oxygen to Adams and Rodgers? Rodgers takes up so much air that it makes you (by "you" I clearly mean "ME") wonder what this team would've accomplished with a less volatile personality under center.
