Great analysis DWH, as usual. I left the stadium pretty deflated and still longing for a September win. Your numbers give me some hope that my eyes did not see.

Lots of encouraging numbers on the defense. Solid run defense. CB became a strength (!). Kwon seemed to help the LB group. DL performed better than expected on run defense.

I expected Lawson to dominate their 3rd string OT and that didn't happen. Maybe Lawson still coming back from injury or is he 100%?

Really helpful column, was waiting for this analysis

Frustrating that our OL couldn't block, but presumably Tomlinson will bounce back. He's a pro bowler. Fant struggled, but the short week of prep didn't help him. I expect him to bounce back too.

Nothing else matters on offense if you can't block. This is why JD invested so much here.

Flacco miss some throws, and rushed others, but he was under duress. After getting battered all game, he started looking for his check down quickly. Better OL play can help

Thanks David, great article as usual. After watching replay, found many positives, especially D, Ravens longest drive was 6 PLAYS. DLine played a contained rush, not opening large gaps with wide 9, to keep Lamar in front. Lawson almost exclusively bull rushed & Lamar threw quick & reason pressure numbers not better. Bad angle by Whitehead on no look TD pass & 2 big mistakes by Joyner on PI & baited outside TD cost us 21 points, the other 3 were on Flacco Int that D held to 3 plays from our 13. On O, we moved the ball, few 3 & outs but kept shooting ourselves, with OLine atrocious, but Flacco can’t shift in pocket, gets off balance. Mitchell better than expected, did miss a couple of assignments, responsible for RB getting blown up but I believe the sack Flacco ran into after pressure from left side. Mann o Mann, those low line drives & shank cost us the field position battle & primary reason we lost this game. Our best starting field position was the 29 before game out of hand. If Mann pins Ravens on multiple opportunities, what could have been.

I didn’t know about DJ Reeds father passing. He got a lot of flack on social media for “celebrating” his interception. Now I know it makes perfect sense. Very sad.

The OLine HAS to improve and quickly...who before Sunday would have predicted a dozen pressures for Fant and Tomlinson ? Yes we know Flacco is a statue so if you don't protect him you end up with Sunday...the Defence did their job overall and gave cause for optimism after some of last seasons performances.

If Flacco is the man until Zach's return then the OLine HAVE to get their shizzle together and keep him protected...we're constantly told it all starts up front, well it's time to shake that one off and start...

Great summary - thank you.

Lots of positives there - we need to put a full game together.

PS Moving up your way in next few weeks - Warham............but it's the Saints for me I'm afraid.

Did you happen to notice how the RB group did for blitz pickup this week? Coleman is solid at that, but we cut him for Ty.

How many snaps did Ty get?

Maybe we're not planning on playing either, so why not develop the faster younger ones skills?

I'm also interested to see how MLF adjusts from the TE/WR personnel mix. We'd love to see more Garrett Wilson but is that possible when we struggle to protect the QB?

Yes he was excited to have 2 legit TE but they didn't get targeted. Why? Were they in blocking roles? Not running patterns or not getting open?

Very disappointed that there was no recognition that Flacco as a QB with NO mobility is clearly unsuited to play for a team with an OL which was passing out Free Passes.

David all good intel and work by you. However, you know by now "stats are for losers' and thats what the Jets are and always will be.
