Losing AVT is brutal. I really wanted this Oline together for the foreseeable… It’s almost like starting over and Zach needs consistent pass blocking so he can relax and just play football. Hopefully Cedric can see us through vs Pats but then the Oline shuffle begins again with Fant, then Mitchell returning. On another note, do you think we get an apology from Elijah No Moore? I cant believe I’m feeling low and we’re 5-2… J.E.T.S jets jets jets

New England , Buffalo and then the bye. Guess Fant after the bye, I’m not sure if Mitchell will be able to play until December. Brown is playing through injury, holding up, but Denver made Duane & Tomlinson look old. Nate Herbig getting better each week. Jets acquired RB James Robinson from Jacksonville last night ( JD is the GOAT🐐) . Jets are committed to running the ball

It's such a shame because the offensive line were really starting to gel, and that consistency was good for Zach and the run game. It's also likely to change again in the coming weeks when Fant is back in action.

It doesn't seem as though an apology is coming considering he just tweeted some bible verse about being persecuted. Strange guy, not sure how he thought requesting a trade on a winning team was going to go down considering he's a second year player.

Thanks for the analysis David. Hard to overstate the impact of the loss of Breece and AVT for the season and Davis for the time being, but we still have ten games to play and this team has been resilient. The penalty numbers are concerning and I imagine, hope, that will be a point of emphasis preparing for the Patriots. While I am not as down on ZW as most, this was his 17th game--not an excuse--just a fact, I am very concerned with his habit of trying to make a flip pass as he is being sacked. That is reckless and will eventually result in turnovers. He dodged one in Denver when they ruled him down by contact. He needs to be coached on that aspect of his game. Bottom line, we are 5-2 and everyone who follows this club would have signed up or that record in a heartbeat in August. Let's enjoy it.

💯! Also so many winnable games coming up.

we still have New England (x2), Miami, Chicago, Minnesota, Detroit, Jacksonville, and Seattle on the schedule

It is very difficult to evaluate the QB with a broken offensive line. Another year of injuries for the Jets. It never stops for this team. This year was to be about evalauating the QB. it has tunred out to be a promising year to get to a playoff game. However, they will not have a top 5 pick to get another QB next year. Also, IMO they brought in a RB as they dont think they can win with the QB alone not so much to replace Hall.

Yeah it's certainly become much harder to evaluate Zach, but we can still learn a lot and at the moment I see a lot of worrying trends. It's been a tough stretch and New England can be exploited as we saw last night so we need to see how Zach performs on Sunday and if the Jets put more on his plate. I hope they do, it's rare for teams to win now with game managers. If we want a SB ring we're going to need to find out if Zach can carry the team at points and push the ball down field. He's gone ultra conservative this year, great for not turning the ball over but bad in many other ways.

Agree - i think that is on caoching staff for being conservative - i would assume Zack wants to sling it - I;ll be evaluating Sunday from my seat in 234

I can't remember the last time we were buyers at the trade deadline.

It's a nice feeling huh.

Now that we've traded for J-Rob, I'd love to know what kind of scheme fit he is.

It's unfair to compare him to Breece, but how does he fit the MLF Shanahan WCO scheme?

He doesn't seem fast enough for outside runs. Am I wrong there?

Can he pass block? That's so important

Robinson is excellent in pass protection. Can't say much about his fit for the scheme. He may not have great long speed but his acceleration is reportedly very good. Tested well in the vertical and broad jump, for what it's worth.

These OL stats look respectable, but it didn't feel that way. ZW was under duress, and there were no holes for MC. Thoughts? The right side numbers look impressive.

Zach has a tendency to vacate the pocket too early which makes it look as though he's under pressure, but in fact he's running into it. It's not all on Zach and it's not all on the offensive line, it's a combination of both and the Jets will need to work on that if they hope to get the best out of both.

David, read a great article by James Dator on SBNATION last night. Does a well thought out evaluation on what we are seeing from our QB. Your friends on Jets X-Factor did one as well with great video. As always, great job here in the stats. Much appreciated! 👍 You da Man!😂

I'm not ready to give up on ZW. That SB Nation article seems to want us to admit that we failed, but I still have hope and optimism for ZW here.

ZW has shown some development. He's way more accurate on short passes and hasn't turned the ball over as much. He's been good when not pressured.

The game plan for the past couple of games called for running. GB was sloppy conditions where Rodgers struggled too, and Denver is the top defense in the NFL. I'd like him to be better, but no reason to panic yet.

I think this was Wilson's 17th game, so this effectively starts his 2nd season.

Nobody is suggesting we give up on Wilson but to date he hasn’t been very good. The article is more the most part on the money. The Jets X-Factor had a similar take on this as well. David’s comments above too. At some point the Jets will have to take the training wheels off. We need to see if he can or can’t be our QB going forward. It’s gonna be impossible to be the “ All gas,no brakes team RS wants if we’re dragging a 2000 pound anvil behind us.

Thanks Ron. I did see that come through and it was a reasoned and well put together argument, and while I may be biased the Jet X team always do a great job. I'm not suggesting we give up on Zach but I do think that we would be foolish to ignore some of the trends we're seeing. He's 17 games into his career which isn't a lot, but it's enough to know that we should be seeing more signs of development. His short accuracy has improved but his intermediate and deep accuracy have fallen off a cliff, I think he leaves the pocket too much and he's so scared of making mistakes he doesn't want to push the ball down the field...which leads to sacks and negative plays. I'm looking forward to seeing him against New England and the likes of Chicago, Jacksonville to see what we have.

Not Buffalo?😂 With Justin Fields having a surprisingly good game against NE and us playing them Sunday the comparisons will be everywhere in every article! Should be a fun discussion next week.

Great discussion guys.

I agree that this is the year for us to evaluate Wilson.

The plan was to give him an above average OL, a strong running game, and WR's that can separate. JD brought in the pieces. Let's make it work

Ron

They called 13 planned QB runs for Fields last night. A total turnaround from the rest of the season (more than all other games combined). Why?

I would reason it was b/c they learned that he's not a pocket passer and adjusted. One of the JetsX articles compares Zach efficiency in a clean pocket vs pressure; huge difference. BUT maybe both stats are beside the point?

We keep saying we are running the W Coast O, but when I watch SF and Jimmy G I see something entirely different. Maybe moving Zach is the answer?

Listen, I read/watched Vitor's film analysis of Zach, I get it. Zach has missed many throws and is playing like his hair is on fire. But many of the QB's we mention progressed in yrs 2 and 3, Zach isn't quite to yr 2 of his progress. We didn't expect to be in the playoffs this yr and the SB isn't realistic. Let's take a breath and let him grow (or not).

BTW, I was in Vegas last week and put $50 on us to make the playoffs (pre GB game). pays $287. Even so, slow and steady is the name of the game
