To say I was shocked that Pinnock was cut is an understatement. I was actually pissed. He was probably the most talked about defensive player that reporters were writing about based on conversations with Jet staff members. The fact he was cut so that they could keep Ashtyn Davis just added fuel to the fire.
Aside from intercepting the last pass in the Cleveland game, he has been a total no show. You can’t say that he wasn’t cut because of his draft status because Zuniga was drafted same round, same year. They totally blew this one. I wonder what Pinnock’s stats are opposed to Joyners.
I would have no issue bring Carr in, as long it wasn’t a ridiculous contract.
Thanks for today's peice. In disagreement about Carr - do not want him. The Jets are in a HUGE mess at QB. With Wilson a bust the best they can do is get a veteran QB, hopefully one ranked 5-10 not 10-15. Draft somone in the 2nd round and develop them. White as backup. I really dont like Woody as he is a terrible owner. However, if he really made those remarks thats music to my ears. I stated in the past - when Dolan fired veryone on the NY Rangers - they went to the playoffs the following year.
The Carr contract scares me, the Jets are not in a position to take on a 34 million contract that escalates to 45 million in 2024. Raiders have until February 5Th before the contract becomes fully guaranteed. If the Raiders cut him, and JD can sign him for 20 million, ( Carr’s salary this year ) it’s a win.
If Woody wants to sack Saleh, unless he is bringing in Sean Payton, he can go back to London. Saleh is the best HC that this franchise has had for a long time. The next two games for LaFleur are crucial, but I think he is safe. Jets will have a new WR Coach in 2023, and following the SF model, a new Passing Game Coordinator, as well as a new Running Game Coordinator. QB Coach, Rob Calibrese’s job is not safe.
Pinnock >> Davis, Ashtyn has his last chance in training camp in 2023. Speaks to how the Jets value (:overvalue ? ) speed on all three levels of the Defense. Guidry >> Moreland on the Practice Squad, Jets have had their chances to bring Javalin back, curious
I'd be shocked if the Raiders find a taker for that contract, teams won't want Carr on $45 million and they'll know the Raiders don't either, which means a release. I think he'll end up getting released and then teams like Jets, Patriots and Colts will all go after him.
Depends on how Sam finishes up? If keeps playing well they might go into next season with him looking to maybe get into the Caleb Williams derby in the 3024 draft?
I think Payton is getting a lot of love for a guy who’s Saints we’re not very good as his future Hall of Fame QB aged! I honestly doubt he has any interest in coming here anyway. Later rumors have him back in NOlA with Tom Brady next season…
A hurt Duane Brown is probably better than anyone else that was out there. The contract that JD gave him was excessive. On the flip side the guy is playing with an injured shoulder. We don't know how bad it is. Give him credit for not sitting on the bench and collecting a pay check.
I liked Pinnock and thought he was an ascending player. He's kind of similar to Will Parks though. We've cut and resigned Parks a few times and he has made a bunch of plays as a FS and Special teams player. Ashtyn Davis gets a lot of love from the Coaching staff. I only see the missed tackles when he blows by the ball carrier.

Joyner started 13 games. 3 ints 1 fumble recovery 6 pass defenses 28 solo tackles
Pinnock has appeared in 12 games started 4,3 pass defenses 1 forced fumble 1 fumble recovery 29 solo tackles 1 1/2 sacks
I don't understand why Ty Johnson isn't getting more touches in the run game. When he's in, he's usually a violent runner and gains yardage.

David, maybe The Colts or even the Falcons?
Carolina ?

This will be a fascinating off season. Money will be the primary issue, but from Carr’s perspective the Jets could be the best alternative
