Hit on all the things i thought of that cost us the game. First time in my life after 2 losses in a row not bummed out. We played very good. However, and im going to be more critical here - i am sick of the F-IN injuires on the Jets. Even when we are good they still get hurt. Can blame Douglas for 4 years in a row getting O-linmen who get hurt are go the curse route but it doesnt end. LeFluer had no business calling carter's number there - they guy was stone cold when Bam was hot. Berrios can not be a option either as a WR or a Kickoff specialist. What i'm saying the coaching has to take some blame here. Mosely does not get fogiven for that play that turned the game as bad a roughing the QB by JFM.
We founded that Athletic Care and Performance department in 2021, and I'm pretty sure we've had more injuries since that department was founded. I wrote something on this department a while ago which can be found here - https://jetsway.substack.com/p/solving-the-injury-woes - Selfless plug i know. But I agree with everything you said.
Unfortunately as we all know Injuries are a big part of football. Unfortunately I’m not sure there is a lot any team can do to prevent them. The Jets and Giants are in a lease at Met Life that locks them into playing on artificial turf which has long been hated by players. Met Life stadium offers a multitude of non football activities like concerts, political events and even tractor pulls. I agree 100% about certain players seeming to be more injury prone than others. If I’m JD there is no way I’m bringing back George Fant or Cory Davis. Neither one of them has been able to stay in the field. When Fant had to come out we were forced to play Remmers in that spot and he was responsible for the strip sack you referenced in your article. The other player I hope does NT return is the Big Ticket! For me he’s more aptly names as the “Big Waste”! I just don’t know how you can go into another season counting on him? I think if Mike White is going to be our QB1 next season we need to protect him much better than what he’s had to work with this season. Unfortunately we have 2QB’s with very different strengths and weaknesses. Wilson has the arm talent and the ability to get away from the rush. But, he struggles with indecisiveness which causes the timing to be off which ten produces inaccurate passing. White on the other hand is very decisive and sure of himself. He makes throws downfield Wilson can only dream of. But, he’s not fleet afoot which makes him easy prey for opposing pass rushers. The other thing that’s obvious is our offense is designed to include RPO’s which are not practical with a QB that presents no run threat. And as for Michael Carters inefficiency will someone please tell MLF to stop running him on counters into the A-gaps! 😡 Those plays are killing us putting us constantly behind the sticks. We had 20 or 11 3rd and 10 or mores yesterday. I agree completely with all your points on why we lost. The question now is, what can we do to fix it! Detroit is a very similar team to us. Lots of young talent trying to beat their projected timeline!
MW has won the job the rest of the season. Jets however are still learning how to win. Q going down, two second unit fumbles and CJ’s brain freeze moment cost us the game. Did not help that the OL nearly got MW killed.
100% right Larry. Quinnen was absolutely dominating inside, I thought Corey missing was huge and I was sat there for the entire second half thinking how much we missed AVT.
I reemember that piece - was in the back of my mind when i commented. Also - in agreement seems like it is worse then before that departmnet. A hard look needs to be done after seaon by the powers that be on 1JD - Thanks for sending.
One last point, Strevler did win a Grey Cup, so it’s not like he’s a rookie. I know most CFL players don’t make it in the NFL, a few have Joe Kapp, Warren Moon as an example. Would have to be better than Zach at this point of White is out.
For a team that struggles with short yardage, a “Streveler Package” could have an immediate impact. As a backup QB , Streveler gives you the best chance of winning. White’s brief hospitalization gave the Jets the political opportunity to go back to Zach, fortunately that ain’t happening. MW gutty performance has galvanized this team for a playoff run
Absolutely and apparently White was healthy enough to make it back in time for the flight home. So hopefully it's just some bruising and some bruising isn't keeping White on the side line. Absolutely no chance.
Detroit up next after an impressive win over the Vikings. Great test for White and this Offense. Jets are favorites but by only one point. Lions can’t stop the run or the Pass, White at home, needs to light the Lions up
David, had to be a rough weekend in your house. England losing, Jets losing and of course that imaginary noise of someone bouncing on the furniture.
A few points, I don’t think Zach sees the field the rest of the season.
Hey Flacco, thanks for the Cleveland game but it’s time to say goodbye.
If that happens, I would prefer Strevler as backup over Zach. That’s strictly a locker room decision, I don’t think Zach new sideline job has helped his fundamentals plus you can’t say that his NO still doesn’t resonates in the locker room. Offensive players wearing White tee shirts speak volumes.
Carter performance has certainly been down but it seems the Jets have gotten out of using him together with another running back. He surely was effective in the first Buffalo game as a tandem with Robinson.
I’m still don’t understand LeFleurs play calling at time. Carter up the middle, no running back screens ever. Tried one yesterday, Buffalo sniffed it out, then no more. Had to stop that rush, some how.
Oh it was, although I was talking to my wife about this and I got over the England result very quickly. I just don't get too attached, of course I want to win but whereas a kid I'd be devastated for weeks, now I'm over it within a few hours.
Yeah I do quite like the idea of a Bam, Carter and Hall trio next year, but if all stands then Carter will potentially get 1-3 carries in that trio. It's a good problem to have though.
100% on MLF. I made a comment to someone on Twitter that he's basically showing signs of being a 2nd year coordinator who's still adapting, just like some 2nd year players.
I whole-heartedly agree with you about Flaccid & Streveler. I don't understand why the Jets don't give him a chance. He played great in the preseason and in the CFL.
LaFleur is also infuriating in some of his play-calling. Everybody watching knows when he calls for a run up the middle, too predictable. How about passing on 1st down for a change to set up the run later? The key is to keep their defense guessing on what you're going to do.
The refs in the 2nd half in Buffalo had a lot to do with that Bills victory. No roughing the passer calls, no call for a clearly out of bounds hit, holding on Huff, this is just plain ridiculous. I think the NFL should look into these refs to see if there is any apparent monetary (sports betting) and home team bias there.
David- I like your take on the "state of the team".
We all must remember that most analysts had us winning 5/6 games this year (including the Vegas oddsmakers). I think most optimistic Jets fans hoped for 7/8 wins. We are def ahead of schedule.
If our D can shutdown the Lions we can def score against them, the Jags are improved but we should get that game, the Seahawks and Geno look to be sliding, and the Dolphins did not look great last night either.
As we sit now I think we have very few places that need improvement: safeties (yes, plural), LB and OL.
It would be nice to get a true over the top of the defense speedster too. FA and the draft should make this achievable, even given financial considerations.
Probably not. It's been a fun season and I'm not ready for it to end yet! I really believe in this team and I do think we can run the table the rest of the way, which is a nice feeling.

Davis going down was big too. Dude is a great target and a A+ run blocker.

Not sure what hurt worse this weekend... the Flacco/Carter fumbles or Harry Kane’s missed PK.
Anyway, if the Chargers beat Tennessee next week, I don’t think the Jets are in the playoffs.
