Well this was a day I did not want to open your email David, though of course open it I did. Your comments about ZW were spot on. I suspect he lost a huge chunk of that locker room yesterday and not just because of his play on the field. Words and body language are critical to leadership and taking responsibility. ZW failed miserably on both counts in that presser. There are times when you say, "I failed, I screwed up, I let this team, my team, down. That was unacceptable and I need to do a better job." Full stop.

If it makes you feel any better, I really didn't want to write it. I'd much rather be talking about how Zach led us to a victory but the more I see of the young signal caller, the less I believe in him. His comments afterwards are worrying to me as it just shows a complete lack of accountability. Several players liked tweets criticizing his comments but all said it was a mistake (as you'd expect). He was served a perfect opportunity to apologise to his team mates who worked so hard like Josh Allen did recently, but instead he shifted the blame.

Yes sir. There is accepting responsibility, which is part of leadership, or not. Josh Allen did it and I am certain that his teammates think the better of him for doing so. ZW missed that opportunity and those chances are fleeting. Were I him, I would call a team only meeting and try to make amends. But, I am not him.

was there any update on Fant or Mitchell playing?

We're playing our 6th best OT and maybe 5th best OG? Can't blame JD for the depth

OG AVT, Laken, Herbig, LDT... mullet emergency backup C/OG

OT Becton, Fant, AVT, Brown, Mitchell,... Practice squad pickup turned starter

Mitchell should be back next week but we'll have to wait and see on Fant.

The line wasn't great, but they gave Zach time to throw on several occasions and Zach missed his targets. As a result the Patriots cheated down on the run and they found it hard to block, and when they did block well, LB's filled the gaps.

Here is my question: How does Mac Jones look faily adequate (not only yesterday) when they dont have the talent on the offense the Jets have. They don't even have a offensive coordinator ? So not only on the QB the whole coachng staff. If Henrik Lundquist can go to the bench for a bad outing Zack Wilson can to. There are 7 games left we are going to hear, Well after 20 games we know we don't have a QB - i highly doubt 7 more is going to prove we do. Im off of Wilon as well. Bad pick.

That's my issue with Zach saying we all have to consider it was "windy as hell" out there...Mac Jones completed over 80% of his passes with a worse supporting cast, so I'm not ready to blame the inclement weather on Zach's poor production. Jets need to address the QB position in some capacity in the off-season. I'm ready to try and throw everything at landing Lamar, even though I don't think he goes anywhere.

How about giving Mike White or Chris Streveler a chance? Streveler in particular shined during the preseason, why not give him a chance on games that count? Either one of those QBs could have won this game for the Jets and we would be in 1st place in our division. Instead, we're cellar-dwellers with the team that swept us again this season.

Exactly ! at this point i would bring Sam back for a couple of million lol. They wont go after Lamar cause of the cap. I dont know who else is out there either.

How did the OL play? It looks like a jailbreak in a bunch of plays. That RT looked like he predictably struggled vs the best edge in football

Did we try to chip him with TE's?

Love the mullet but he's not good. LDT is likely much better at RG

That's was so frustrating!

Your summary of Zach is very fair and accurate. It's one thing to miss a receiver while under pressure. It's another thing to miss wide open receivers when you have time. Coach Salah needs to sit Zach down and explain that a leader takes the heat for poor (I wish his performance rose to the level of poor. They might have won then.) performance and man up. Zach is obviously a spoiled brat, and the team needs to help him grow up.

Thank you Neal. Absolutely right, having watched some clips back he was missing wide open receiver after wide open receiver, he doesn't seem to understand the offensive concepts so has no idea where to go with the football. That's extremely concerning.

Spot on! I have been lamenting the decision to draft Wilson over Fields from day one and you are not alone in feeling this way. Wilson is incapable of being the QB we need. It's just a fact. He needs to be pulled for the rest of the team! Saleh needs to open his eyes and man up with the tough decision to move on.

If Zach struggles against the Bears and Robert Saleh fails to pull him, then that will speak volumes about Saleh's reluctance to make a big decision. Putting the need of one above all others.

Where are those guys that were defending Wilson now? has he run out of chances yet?

Saleh is in a tough position because the defense has professed much faster than anticipated. We went from dead last to a top 5 unit this year and the coaches have to deal with the expectations for making the playoffs. Zach is obviously not ready and the coaches are making him a game manager. The entire regime is ties to ZW like it or not and this season should be finding out what we have in our QB. Sink or swim. Throw the whole play book at him. In college, his best throws were downfield bombs so let him do that. It can’t be any worse than what we’ve been watching. As for the accountability part, I’m not too worried. Maybe he’s putting on a tough act for the NY media, maybe he’s saying something else in the locker room. I will be judging him on how he performs on the field and not on how he talks to the media

Your warning to "Zack Wilson guys" has to have been a waste of print. As far as I can tell, there's only one. Unfortunately that one is the Coach.

It's time for Joe Douglass to have a sit down with the Coach. He shares responsibility for drafting Wilson on the one hand but also has put together a superb supporting cast and he has the authority to demand the change that so obviously needs to be made.

Also there were two blocks in the back, one far up field on the punt run back.

I've said here and elsewhere that Zach is still immature, mentally and physically. At this point it appears that the mentally part is far more glaring.

This situation has to be approached in an objective, business-like manner. Zach needs to sit. We don't know what we have w/ White (Bengals game notwithstanding), but the D deserves to make playoff bonuses if they can.

In the off-season make hard runs at Lamar and Garrapalo and then play the "it's an open competition" game in camp.

I'm on board with Garropolo, but I doubt Lamar is affordable.

Sanchez was coddled, too. With Mark Brunell as his backup, there was never a chance that he was going to be faced with extended bench time if he didn't play well. Sanchez handled it better, though, and played well at times even with the defense and running game leading the way. Depending on what happens the rest of the year, I'd be willing to give Zach a chance, but there has to be another QB that could provide competition. Someone along the lines of Gardner Minshew. If he does not play well, then Derek Carr or Jimmy G.
