Good Morning ☕
I’m going to start putting together some shorter newsletters on certain days that outline everything you need to know about your NY Jets. Then we’ll mix in longer pieces when storylines start developing.
Glenn, Mougey and several players spoke with the media yesterday so we have some juicy sound bites, and there were some small notables from the session. It’s important to remember that the players were on day one, mistakes happen and now it’s about ramping up and building on the work put in over the off-season.
PRACTICE NOTES 🗞️
“Cade Klubnik just threw a perfect, fast deep ball through traffic to Arian Smith… who dropped it.” Zack Rosenblatt
Rich Cimini also shared this video of the wide receivers going to work, and the one player to suffer a drop? Arian Smith.
Isiah Williams had a drop 🧈
David Bailey had a pressure 💪
Membou handled Bailey well on multiple reps and knocked him down 🧱
Mykal Walker had an interception 🫨
Minkah Fitzpatrick almost came up with an INT off Geno 🤏
Brandon Stephens had a PBU on an underthrown pass by Geno 👍
Cade Klubnik threw the pass that was intercepted, it was tipped and Sadiq had a chance to catch it on the ground and it bounced up to Walker.
INJURIES 🤕
D’Angelo Ponds strained his calf. It’s not serious according to Glenn and it sounds like he won’t miss much time.
Mazi Smith had a hamstring injury today. No clear update on severity.
Expecting Ossai to be back “very soon”, he had a hamstring issue.
T’Vondre Sweat has a hamstring injury. He was seen running on a side field today and Aaron Glenn didn’t sound overly concerned.

Thank you for reminding everyone that it is early. No need for overreaction n Klubnick or Smith. I do like the positive vibe on Cade though. Having a down senior year after such a successful junior year should build the toughness that will be necessary at this level. Nothing worse than only succeeding and then having to deal with failure on the largest stage. Many of these guys never come back from that.
Teaching kids how to deal with failure is the most important lesson a parent or coach can do. Always putting kids in a position of success is not doing anyone any favors.
I agree. I like to say you enjoy success but you remember and learn from failures.
