Curious, when you have meaningful games in December, Jet Fans are not focusing so much on next years draft, or Free Agency in 2023. It will be a different FA in 2023, some interesting cuts will have to made, Jets don’t have a lot of money, Jets may take a couple of second/ third tier FA, but that’s about it, priority will be re-signing our own. We will be drafting in the mid twenties, with just the normal 7 picks, we are just have to get used to it.
The Offensive line , just wow, what a challenge. I can’t see how we can retain Fant, before the injury, he was a 15 million dollar a year player, that’s the rate of Left Tackles these days. Can the Jets re- sign McGovern at the same rate 9/10 million with a front loaded, huge guaranteed contract, maybe ? Herbig can play Center, maybe your Center position is manned by Feeney and Herbig. Can you re-sign those guys for 5/ 6 million each ? Feeney at 3 Herbig at 6 ? AVT and Max Mitchell are 40% of your Offensive Line, we are so fortunate.
Unfortunately, we're stuck with BecTON for another year. Ideally, he finally stays in shape and the line is Becton/Tomlinson/McGovern/AVT/Mitchell. I would not resign Fant and would cut Brown. I'd have Ogbuehi/Herbig/high draft pick as our backups. If Becton can't go, which is what I'm expecting, I'd move AVT to LT for the year while our newly drafted LT gets up to speed. Start Herbig at RG.
David, thanks again for another outstanding look at our offensive line situation. Its been an interesting season playing musical chairs but I’m pretty sure JD and the coaching staff is hoping for more stability there next season. I have a feeling your suggestion of a AVT,LT, MCG, Herbie and MM line may end up being the solution with Brown as the swing tackle. AVT’s flexibility would enable him to slide over if MMsuffered another injury. I also feel we need to pick another o-linemen in the draft in April
One thing for sure - whoever is named to the starting group - plan on them not starting - need to look at the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string guys as that will be out line next year LOL - Injuries since what 2018 ?
Too much invested in Brown if he is healthy and can play. Hate to eat a 6 million dollar Brown cut. McGovern if the numbers are reasonable. He has been very steady. Becton will have to earn a starting job. We move on from Fant, Remmers, OG.
Tonight Bills- Pats, who would you like to lose/win. Since they still have to play their two games, I would like to see the Bills win tomorrow. That would put the Pats in desperate mode for the rest of the season. Also, I can’t see the Bills losing two in a row, with the Jets next week, I think it’s better for the Bills to win tomorrow. Jets currently 11 points underdog for rematch. That line alone worth a column.
Nice job by the NFL schedule maker, giving both the Vikings and Bills 10 days rest before their matchups.
I find it really hard to every root for the Patriots, there are two teams in the NFL I just can't stand seeing put up a W and that's the Patsies and the Dolphins. So I'll be hoping the Bills win this week and then we can bring them down a peg next week.
I was at the Miami rain AFC championship rain game disaster. My wife and myself totally surrounded by Dolphin fans. Not a word was said to us until AJ Douhe intercepted Todd and returned it for a touchdown with a minute and a half left in the game, making the score 14-0. An older female Dolphin fan sitting right in front of me, gets up, turns around, sticks her middle finger right in our faces and says f..k you Jets fans. One guess what team and fan base I hate.
I hate the Patriots for a number of reasons. This little incident always reminds me to hate the fanbase also. I was skiing in Vermont and a small girl cut directly in front of my path. I swerved to avoid her and wiped out. I separated my shoulder on that fall and I was in a lot of pain. Two stupid women said, "Oh, he's a Jet fan" and laughed as they stopped and then passed me by. I laugh at it now but it shows how that fanbase is easy to hate. Two stupid, rude women don't represent the whole fanbase but they make it easy to dislike them.
Hate is a strong word, I like your usage of dislike. If you are going to dislike a team, it might as well be one in your team’s division.
My brother in law lives in Vermont right across the border from Hanover, New Hampshire. That is where Dartmouth is. There is a breakfast restaurant two blocks from the school called Lou’s. Great breakfast, type of place you see on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Dartmouth colors are Green and White. I had a Jet sweatshirt on when I ordered. I had my jacket on. You could see part of my sweatshirt. I took off my jacket. My Jet shirt blended in. The waitress brings my coffee. She looks at my sweatshirt and says with a smile on her face, “ if I knew you were a Jet fan, I wouldn’t have served you”. I laughed back at her and said gee, thanks.

My O-Line prediction for 2023:
Starting: LT Brown, LG Tomlinson, C McGovern, RG Herbig, RT AVT
Backups: Swing Tackles Becton, Max Mitchell, C/G Feeney, 2023 draft pick......

It's easy to hate rude, obnoxious, insulting people.
Totally agree.
