Good morning! ☕
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and now the festivities are out the way…we have some Jets football to look forward to.
I spent much of yesterday looking at the college QB scene ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. I agree with everyone who says we first need to address the offensive line, and I feel we’ll see almost an exclusively offense-orientated off-season. We’re going to touch on a couple of bits there after we get to the Miami game.
I’m also going to introduce daily polls into the newsletter because…why not.
The UK Jets are hosting a Black Friday watch party in Manchester for the Jets/Dolphins. Unfortunately, I can’t make it, but they’ll have former Jets player Erik Coleman there, and I’ve always been a big fan of Coleman. He had this to say on tonight’s matchup “It’s going to be a great night. You have the high-powered offence from the Miami Dolphins, playing against the wonderful defence from the New York Jets, one of the best defences in the NFL. It’s going to be exciting. It’s going to be high-scoring, a tough match-up. These are two teams that have a lot of hatred for one another. They’re division rivals — Miami, New York. Some say that Miami is the sixth Borough of New York. So there’s a lot of New Yorkers that are down there, and it’s going to be a great matchup for sure. Sauce Gardner vs Tyreek Hill — the matchups, they just don’t stop.”
PFF released an interesting look at mock drafts and the most common pick by fans using their mock draft simulator. According to the report, offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga of Oregon State is the most mocked player to the Jets. Offensive guard Graham Barton from Duke is the second most mocked player to the Jets. Seems fans want NY to focus on that offensive line, which is hardly surprising considering what we’ve seen.
PFF also released a 5-round mock draft for the Jets:
ROUND 1, PICK 11: OT TALIESE FUAGA, OREGON STATE
ROUND 3, PICK 75: QB MICHAEL PRATT, TULANE
ROUND 4, PICK 111: WR JERMAINE BURTON, ALABAMA
ROUND 5, PICK 148: EDGE ANTWAUN POWELL-RYLAND, VIRGINIA TECH
Unsurprisingly, Zach Wilson came in at number 32 on the NFL.com QB Index. Stat’s don’t look good and not enough is made of those 9 fumbles.
Here is the final injury report ahead of tonight’s game. MC2 looks set to miss his second game in a row, and that’s a huge loss for the Jets considering the opponents. We also get to play that game we all love, who’s playing on the offensive line today.
🐬 Miami is heading into MetLife stadium with the hope of extending their lead at the top of the division. Had everything gone the Jet’s way last week we’d be sitting here with an opportunity to climb to the top of the AFC East. Instead, the Dolphins will arrive at 7-3, with the Jets sitting at 4-6 and on the cusp of having another season floating away into the overflowing tank of obscurity.
The unfortunate thing about the 2023 season is that I don’t think there is a single dominant team. The Bills have their issues and while the Dolphins are an absolute powerhouse on offence, they have serious issues on defence. It’s very unlikely that the AFC representation in the Super Bowl will come from the AFC East.
Here are some stats that you need to know ahead of the game tomorrow.
