Great job. If the Jets offense was as diligent as TJW we’d have home playoff games this season.

Appreciate that. Writing after a loss like that is never fun!

Same here! My dad and I were season ticket holders over 50 years ago, going back to the early days at Shea and all through the Giants' Stadium years. However, when the Johnsons attempted to cram the PSL into our shaded areas, we decided not to bend over and instead watched the Jets on TV.

I'm sick of hearing about these millionaires having "the best fan base" (news flash: we are not) while we're expected to shell out $65 in parking and hundreds of dollars for three hours of dog-shit play like last night. Meanwhile, Carl Lawson is paid $15 million for one tackle, George Fant is paid around $10 million for poor blocking, a false start, and holding, and the coaches who do not have their squads ready.

These lazy millionaires who feed us lip service should pool their paychecks from last night and donate 100% of their money to charity and/or the fans.

First off, and I really don’t want to hear from any Zachanista with their plethora of putrid excuses. Zach Wilson is NOT AN NFL QB.

But strangely, another issue is starting to raise its ugly head. Is Saleh an NFL coach.

The last few weeks he has pandered to and about Wilson like a Zachanista.

Some of his remarks are as mind numbing as Rex talking about his wife’s feet.

“ Zach fundamentally is the same qb who went 16 for 16 in a bowl game 4 years ago”. Hey coach, I didn’t know Weber State was on your schedule.

Last night, “Zach’s not going anywhere” and this classic “ I see his progress”. Could that be interpreted as “ we are not taking Zach back on the bus to Florham Park because his performance sucked” and about seeing progress, I would recommend Costco for an eye exam and a great deal on eye glasses, coach, buy one get the second pair half price. With all due respect where do you see progress.

They say Saleh is a players coach. One problem with players coaches, their teams usually play undiscipline at times. How many dumb penalties have we seen since Saleh has been HC.

Last point, I really can’t believe that a GM who has drafted some phenomenal talent could actually waste the second pick of a draft on Wilson. I can’t believe that Douglas and his scouting staff saw something in Wilson with all the question marks about him. ( If you are wondering what question marks, just google Zach Wilson’s scouting reports) If they made that decision on the one pass he threw at his pro day, then they forgot nobody was rushing him and there were no dbs covering the receiver.

It almost makes me wonder if Woody and/ or Clueless Chris were involved in this debacle. Based on what offense he ran in college and what they want to run now. Zach is nothing but a square peg being put in a round hole.

Now a true Jets off season starts talking about free agents and the draft. Sorry gang no playoffs.

Have a Happy And Healthy Holiday and New Year

I said it last week and I'll say it again, this team cannot play at MET No-Life Stadium. The New York Jets have had no home field energy since Giants Stadium closed. Even Fireman Ed was going thru the motions last night.

Dumb-assed Woody priced out the real fans years ago when they forced PSLs down the fan's throats (and the idiots just announced a 2023 $ increase this month!).

In two weeks, it will be 20 years to the day when we last had a fired up stadium for a whole game.

How come the fans worry more about where they play than the players. A reporter once asked Klecko about it, his answer I couldn’t care less, I’ll play in the parking lot if I have too.

What the Johnsons did with the PSLs was destroy the fan base. Season ticket for 37 years told them to screw with as Goodell said, PSLs, a great investment. A Ponzi scheme if there ever was one.

Absolutely guys! The worst part of the PSL’s thing is the stadium is a dump! One of the ugliest stadiums in the league. No retractable dome? You have two of the league’s wealthiest owners who get a half price deal on a stadium and we get this stainless steel mausoleum? They wanted me to pay $20 thousand apiece for my two seats. I can’t believe we are talking about this. The game was so bad no one wants to rehash it😂

2022 Jets goal: "Play meaningful games in December." Maybe it was a mistake to put the emphasis on the word "meaningful" while the Jets forgot the main word was "PLAY".

Outside Quinnen Williams, Jordan Whitehead and Chris Streveler, the other 42 that put on a black jersey Thursday took the night off and gave the effort of a bunch of rain-soaked pussies. Fitting that they wore black because that was a funeral.

The LBs and OL should all give up their paychecks and donate them to a children's hospital, where kids know how to fight.

The Jets were a playoff team 5 days ago. In must win games - at home - they came out flat. Last night was worse then then 5 days ago. They take way too many penalties every single game. They are getting out coached on all sides of the ball. Any hope that Zach Wilson will grow into a NFL QB is gone now. Not only do the Jets have a QB issue they have a head coach issue as well. Saleh is a good man but i dont know how he keeps his job losing 7 in a row, 8 our 9 and the team overall not ready to play. Time to call Sean Peyton !

Bet you're glad you didn't go and sit in the rain to watch that one Steve. There is absolutely no flow to this offense when Zach is running it, I may have a little look at offensive penalties with him under center in comparison to everyone else as I'm sure we have more false start penalties with him, which is probably a cadence issue which is probably a confidence issue. I think Saleh will get another year but the heat will be on next year to find a QB. It's depressing and deflating.

Watched it with Jeff and by 1/2 time we said "imagine if we went ?". Thats a good point - i'm thinking its a caching issue but maybe it is a cadence issue bundled wiith all the issues at QB and O-Line. However, i still don't know how you keep your job the weay this is ending - if itw as me Saleh is a goner.

Steve,

If the Jets can find a way to be 7-11 they will make it happen! lol

Well, done David - it's hard enough for me to muster up reading about our Jets after a terrible loss; how you manage to write about it and cover all the aspects as well as you do is enough to make me sober.

Hopefully there's a "where do we go now?" article sometime in the very near future from you. Quick takes on that; we're going to start hearing a crescendo of "JIMMY G!!!" now - and it wouldn't be a bad way to go if all we had to do was fix QB.

I think we should go in another direction:

(1) Make (and pay) Mike White as the starter from here forward;

(2) Draft another QB (not first round) to sit as #3 (keep Strevelar, he's got something and provides a different spark as backup).

(3) Shop Zach for a draft pick.

I still think Zach can get better... I just don't want to see that experiment any more in a Jets uniform. This is and has been a disaster, especially for a team with such promise. No denying the team is flatter with Zach at the helm, and in stark contrast, so dangerous with White leading them. When we heard Saleh, and our pundits say, "the Jets can go toe to toe with anyone", they're talking about a team with Mike White at the QB position. They are certainly NOT talking about a Zach Wilson lead team. Dr. Jekyl and Mister Hyde difference.

A strong case can be made that had Mike White been the QB in the NE games, we would have won both. And I think White wins against the Jags. The Vikings and Bills games, tough to call, they were both games of inches... but I think that with both those teams having 10 days rest against us, that make a difference in their favor. The Lions game is a toss up.

So, in the useless "no sense crying over spilt milk"... what-might-have-been category, we could have been 9-6, maybe 10-5 if White were the QB. But we're not, we are what we are, on the outside looking in.

Which leads to next year, and the cash outlays we need to make if we want to keep our talent. Quinnen must be kept. Huff, too and at alot more than the near-900K he earns now. Lawson is gone, a cap casualty, meaning Jermaine, Clemons and Huff get more reps, so we're ok there. And Mike White as shown enough for the league to know he can start and win, so the 2-3 mil he gets now is going up significantly and WE HAVE TO PAY ... or else we'll see the horror of ( may lightning strike me down... ) - "Gasp!!!" - the HOODED ONE grab him and replace Mac Jones.

Can't have that happen.

Keep White, don't go for Jimmy G because we won't be able to pay him and keep all our other studs at the same time.

I've resisted looking ahead to the offseason while we actually had playoff hopes in mid December, latest in the year for a long time. But here we are.

Our team is ready to win besides QB and OL.

QB - I assume we try to bring back White and ZW and sign a competent veteran. I'm not sure who. We have little money left, especially if we keep MW and ZW.

Weird that Geno's name will come up. Would you draft another and develop on bench, or sign one?

OL - I assume we draft an OT in R1. Or OG. Can't assume Becton will ever be healthy. Brown and Fant can't be relied on. Mitchell is still developing.

But then Laken and Herbig has looked bad too. Very little has gone well at OL besides AVT and CMG.

Defense - LB, safety, DT

Safety - badly need to upgrade.

LB - Quincy has developed a bit this year, and CJ is great, but still feels like we need to be better

DT - I feel like we'll draft interior DT

Punter - sign a new one

Expand full comment

That was the most frustrating game to watch. Feels as bad as the Pats games.

Zach Wilson needs a complete reset this offseason. He's done for the year.

The media is focused on ZW, but the OL was horrible. They couldn't run block and couldn't prevent constant pass rush pressure. Fant kept having false starts - appears to still be injured

Costello - "Left tackle Duane Brown has been playing with an injured shoulder all year. He chose not to have surgery before the season and now he looks like he is playing with one arm. Right tackle George Fant has been bothered by a knee injury all season and is getting beat regularly. The Jets have a backup at right guard in Nate Herbig

QB's can't be successful if the OL constantly misses assignments. The Jags DL isn't formidable, especially without their R1 top pick.

It's deflating that our offense couldn't move the ball against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. I was hoping for MLF to make halftime adjustments but it didn't happen.

Looking forward to seeing the stat pack tomorrow on the OL. We knew ZW would need to develop, but the OL was supposed to be our advantage.

White starts next week, if 10 days is enough to heal.

If White isn't healthy enough, I think you need to go with Flacco. ZW looks lost out there. But if we're out of the playoff hunt, I'm not sure how that calculation changes.

Fant was disappointed that he didn't get a contract extension after last year's strong LT performance, and then he does this, looking like a swing tackle.

Defense underperformed this week, but they still held the opponent to 1 TD and under 20 points. My concern is that this is a blueprint to beat us - quick throws, stretched horizontally.

I'm not ready to dump the coaching staff. That's not the scapegoat we need.

So frustrating!

Thank you again DW-H for another on point article. I will become a subscriber!

I was at the game and here were my observations:

1. ZW is NOT ready to play QB yet. The so called reset didn't occur yet. I am not giving up on him but it's best he sit the rest of the year. His throws were often late and short. Captain Obvious statement: There was no rhythm to the offense.

2. The rain and wind sucked BUT it didn't effect the Jags offense. They moved the ball well and the Lawrence designed runs were executed perfectly. The Jags played better and deserved to win. They stacked the box and shut down the run forcing ZW to pass. They exploited our weakness ( A QB who lost his confidence and can't make the throws ).

3. I can't put this on Coach Saleh. If the ZW can't execute the plays the team is going to lose. The inefficient offense put major stress on the D.

4. I'm glad they put in Streveler and not Grandpa Joe. At least there was a little excitement with him playing.

5. Hopefully MW's ribs heal in time for the Dolphin game. I would love to knock them out of the playoffs!

PSL:

I bought a PSL for two tickets costing $6000 each when the new stadium was built. My rational was this: If I keep the seats for 12 years it will cost me 1000 per year for the PSL. During the time I received numerous perks: Upgrades to suites ( About 10-12 ), went on the field numerous times, morning breakfasts meeting former Jet players, dinner in Manhattan for SB week at Jets house ( 2 times ), VIP at training camp with lunch ( 3 times ), and a few others. The Jets rewards program is decent and I appreciate it. Most people aren't willing to lay out that type of cash and I understand completely. The Jets in essence are similar to a stock in the stock market. If they win and are in high demand the price goes up and it is worth it. They stink and you can't get anyone to buy the seats. For me it was worth it.

Thank you Chris really appreciate that and the support. I'm considering putting our a paid subscriber only newsletter as a bonus tomorrow as the support has been overwhelming.

Great points across the board.

I think you're absolutely right, that reset didn't work. You can't do a full mechanical reset in a couple of weeks, that's not how it works. I'll admit I'm pretty much out on Zach at this point as statistically he's comparable to Russell and a million miles away from competent QB play, but I'm pulling for the kid.

Jags were efficient last night, they were just a well coached team who executed the gameplan. A lot of leaked routes which we can't handle and you're right on the Lawrence designed runs, they were excellent. Since the knee injury we've been reluctant to design running plays for Zach.

Oh the pain…. I can’t wait to hear former WFAN host Joe Biningo’s take on this one. I was gonna comment on the run game but you stole my thunder David. I agree 100% on why the run game has disappeared. With no credible passing threat teams just don’t fear getting beat deep so the run game and the short passing game are rendered useless. Almost all football coaching is about numbers. The offense and defensive coaching staffs are always looking to gain the number advantage. Simply put 5 guys can’t consistently block 6 defenders. It’s no coincidence when Streveler entered the game that the run game was suddenly effective. He neutralizes the defensive numerical advantage as a run threat. Minus Streveler there was no point trying to run the football. So I can’t be hard on MLF for that. All that accomplished was it kept putting us behind the sticks!

Jets need a grey beard coach to go the offense. Hire Frank Reich immediately as Senior Offensive Assistant. The Jets never replaced Cavanaugh as SOA and Reich (born in NY and played for the Jets) would be a perfect fit for that offensive coaching staff! Reich is brilliant and available... but not for long.
