Thanks David. What is your guess as to the vibe when all of the coaches reassemble in NJ this week? Does the article from The Athletic play any role moving forward? Seems to me that our HC needs to get his house in order.

Think it will need to be addressed. But there also may be a "us against the world" type feeling in the building. I think Saleh should/will address it but stress the importance of turning the page on 2023.

Just my opinion which doesn’t mean much, if they go with the “ us against the world mentality”, they better win and I don’t mean just fighting for a playoff spot.

And 2021 and 2022. It is 2024 or bust for his crew.

Nice detail David. I have to say i love Jeff Ulbrick. However - this whole coaching cycle i never saw or heard one word about him being a head caoch. Nor did he interview with anyone. This is all coming from the Jets and a set of thier fans. I have no clue if this guy is a head coach or not but he is a great defensive coordinator.

After a weekend of Super Bowl talk and Senior Bowl talk, David, your article/ articles are like “ Manna from Heaven” for information starved Jet fans.

Payton Wilson actually won the Chuck Bednarik and Dick Butkus awards as the best collegiate linebacker this past season. His issues exactly like Blake Cashman’s issues many shoulder injuries.

His injury history could make him drop in the draft.

If the Jets do draft him in the later rounds and he stays healthy, he would be a real find.

Another positive in drafting him would be that the Jets could assign him uniform #2 then the could take all the Zach Wilson jerseys which will be discounted to $19.95 back up to $119.95. We all know that Woody Johnson is more interested in selling Jerseys than winning. Just remember the Tebow disaster before you criticize.

As far as Rex Hogan is concerned, if he is so highly thought of, why hasn’t any team hired him.

I guess with Zach Wilson on his resume plus the fact his job also required him to evaluate pro players, his reputation took a hit this past season. His job was to evaluate players like Lazard, Cobb, Cook, Boyle and Turnstile Turner. I know Rodgers wanted them but he needed to be the voice of reason.

But I will say he did one thing marvelously. It was to call draft picks on draft night. Hey Sauce, Rex from the Jets, you’re coming to NY. Garrett, Rex from the Jets.

He did it so flawlessly, sort of like listening to John Facenda on the old NFL films. "On the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field"

Great reporting, David! Ulbrich actually wasn’t afraid on offense, which actually makes him a better head coach prospect than Saleh.

Yikes! You really hate Robert Saleh, huh? Did he kick your dog or something?

He destroyed the career of a promising young QB by not playing to his strengths and having zero aggressiveness on offense. He took the next Brett Favre and made him Trevor semien. And worse yet, he used him as a scapegoat. Also lost an amazing amount of games.

You might be exaggerating a some of those claims. Just maybe. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don’t think so. Zach will prove his worth and be the next in a long line of successful Jet QB’s after they were run out by the media and fans.

You're only replying to one of those claims (that Zach Wilson is a promising young QB). What's more, I actually agree that Zach Wilson has promise (just not with the Jets; and there's no reason for him to want to stay in NY, anyway). The big exaggerated claim I'm referring to is that Robert Saleh is responsible for the failure of the Zach Wilson experiment in NY. I think the reasons for that failure are far more multi-faceted than "Robert Saleh screwed up." The original coaching staff was blown up by the passing of Gregg Knapp, then the front office and Saleh (I'm not sure who would be more responsible for the ultimate call to do this) bungled the handling of how to respond to that tragedy, then they did a poor job of putting in place a stabilizing presence for Zach Wilson's second season, and I think the signing of Aaron Rodgers was a monumental mistake (I might be the only one who thinks that, here). I think it's certainly true that Saleh got unnecessarily cagey and paranoid this year as the losses piled up and the team structure further deteriorated. I don't, however, think that he had much say in how that all played out. It's a scenario where I think he could have flexed his muscles and tried to block the way the offensive staff was put together. I think the front office set up the offensive staff with input from the newly hired OC (Hackett). This isn't to say that the entire offensive staff was bad or that they're all bad at their jobs. I think the organizational structure was poor, though. It never seemed like Saleh had much authority in the way the offense developed given the stature of Rodgers (and to a lesser extent, Hackett) in the organization. Essentially, I think that head coaches regularly get blamed for not "developing" a quarterback when they aren't the ones doing the developing. They, by way of who they appoint to do that "developing," are responsible for a quarterback's development, but it's always contingent on a strong organizational structure. I think there was enough input by ownership that the usual organizational structure was fucked up. It's never a good thing when the non-football people start meddling in the football decisions.

Hey, I never said Saleh screwed him up by himself. But he has proven to have zero ability to coach an offense. I give him 60 percent credit and the other 40 percent goes to the media - they hate Zach because he told them they played football and implied they don’t know what they are talking about in a post game interview. Weak owner has some skin in this too, and the ignorant fans that are expecting the next Maholmes to walk in the door.

Since Fuaga is the OT most likely to be there for the Jets at pick #10 and possibly lower, I don't like all this coming out about how much JD loves him. IMO that means the Jets have no interest in him, and could very well mean that JD has no plans to draft an OT, but rather BPA regardless of position (ala Mac). I hope that I'm wrong, but at this point, I have zero trust or confidence in JD.

I think Rice will get overdrafted. He seems softer and perhaps that he doesn't have the same burning desire for greatness that his dad had. It's a bit suprising to me to learn of his not being a topflight college prospect and having had limited success in college. In the 4th round? Sure, take a flyer on him, but I don't think I'd want the Jets to consider him before then.

I like what I've read about Powers-Johnson on draft buzz and the PFN Mock Draft game has him rated as a 2nd round pick. I doubt there's much chance that he lands with the Jets unless the Jets opt to cut Tomlinson and either moving Tippman to OG or play Power-Johnson at OG.

Payton Wilson, I discovered on the PFN Mock Draft Game, so I googled him, and draft buzz is high on him. With his being perhaps the best coverage LB in the draft, I definitely think the Jets should have some interest in him, since that has been a long-term weakness of their D, although this last season Mosely and Quincy were the top-rated tandem I believe. With Mosely probably gone after this season, if the Jets could grab Wilson in the 4th round, he could learn from Mosely this season and step into the starting lineup next season. I know they've been supposedly grooming the former S from Auburn for that spot, but Wilson may be better already.

100% agreeable in having trust in JD and his drafting. Aside from the Sauce, JJ, Garrett, Breece draft , his drafts resemble Mr Coffee’s., the jury is still out on him
