The Jets Mike Williams will be on a pitch count, guessing 20- 25 reps. On the San Francisco side, will Brandon Aiyuk be on a pitch count ? Could speak to the value of training camp, is he in football shape ? Certainly has to affect timing. Trent Williams is an elite left Tackle, but he is 36, hasn’t been in the building, not sure how you bring him back, but playing him next Monday seems irresponsible. McCaffery with his calf injury should be okay, but it might be prudent to put him on a pitch count. Not an expert on the 49ers, but they don’t seem to be a very deep team. CAP restrictions seem to have had an effect on their roster.

You look at the Jets depth chart, it would seem that the Jets have left a spot open for another consistent WR. An injury at WR, could be catastrophic. Unbelievably happy that Jason Brownlee is back, he is a second year UNDFA, but he has put in the work, he is not there yet, but could be on the brink of being a productive WR on the varsity. Brandon Smith & Jason Brownlee will compete on the PS, for an elevation, and I would hope that cagey veteran Mike Williams could mentor.

IMO the only WR it would be catastrophic to lose is G. Wilson. It would hurt and limit the offense somewhat, if one of the others got hurt, but it would break the offense if G. Wilson were to go down for any length of time.

When the Jet’s schedule was initially released, many fans were not happy that they were opening up in Frisco.

But since the process the NFL uses to make the schedule has the AFC East playing the NFC West and the AFC South this year, it is what it is. They have to play them.

While have no statistical data to back this up, it would appear that more underdogs win in the first two weeks of the season.

While there could be many reasons for this, for this game in particular, let’s try to examine a few.

As well known as the Jet defense is, not even the truest of Jet fans can tell you what the Jets offense is going to be.

The past two years, the Jet’s offensive line room has resembled a M*A*S*H unit injury tent. Presently this is the healthiest this unit has been in two years plus the fact it’s probably the most talented Jet offensive line in years. Add in the fact that this is probably the healthiest the Jets team as a whole has been in a quite a while.

Rodgers is also an unknown factor. Who is he. Is he 40 going on 45 or 40 going on 35.

While his injury last year was the second worse in Jet history, that distinction sadly belongs to Dennis Byrd unfortunately, who suffered the most disastrous, soul crushing in Jet history. Rodgers is still a mystery.

People forget that in 2022, he suffered a thumb injury against the Giants in London, the Packers played the Jets the following week who held him in check in a 27-10 victory. Rumor has it which has been dispelled that a certain Jets fan with the initials of DWH, was in the stands in London with a voodoo doll dressed in a #12 Packer uniform, sticking needles into it the whole game.

One more unknown factor offensively for the Jets is Mike Williams. What can he bring to the table.

Currently he has had as many Jet training camp snaps as Where’s Waldo#7.

Much to Jet fans delight, Frisco has had their own contract issues. While settling one this past weekend, the second one could have a big effect on the game.

All pro tackle Trent Williams is refusing to budge on his demands. If he doesn’t play next week hopefully the Jet rushers can take advantage of his replacement.

Frisco also has had injury issues to their running back room. Second string Elijah Mitchell was just put on IR.

It is very doubtful that starting safety Talanoa Hufanga will play.

There was also the tragic shooting of first round pick, wr, Ricky Pearsall this past Saturday. Miraculously, he was released from the hospital yesterday. While entering his chest and exiting out of his back, the bullet did not hit any vital body part. All the members of the Brigade wish him a speedy recovery.

Just maybe the schedule maker, did the Jets a big favor having them open in Frisco.

I know this is really looking ahead but the Jets in 2025 will have to face the AFC North and the NFC South.

Trivia time, while looking at Rodgers stats against the Jets at Lambeau in 2022. He went 26-41 246yds 1 td sacked 4 times. Current Jet Lazard was 4-76-1td. I noticed a name that I barely recognized. He picked up a block punt by Clemons and scored a 20 yard td.

You really have to be really good to know this player.

I actually think the Jets should be favored in this game. Just looking at SF alone, with Trent Williams out, that is going to hurt their passing offense. Add in that Aiyuk missed all of TC holding in, Pearsall missed time with an injury, got well started practicing and then was shot. As you said, McCaffery was recovering from an injury, so who knows how effective he will be?

Then on top of that 25-27 SF players missed varying amounts of practices in TC for the Niners.

Conversely, by the game, the Jets will have had their starting OL practicing for a month, and they appeared together in two, if not all 3 of the joint practices. Rodgers looks healthy. Breece looks great, and they have Allen, Davis and Izzy to run the ball. Williams could play, Lazard looks better than he did at any point last season, G. Wilson is even better, Gipson is improved, and they've added Corley. On D, they've added Chuck Clark which will be an upgrade at S. Javon Kinlaw will have some motivation to show the Niners up and prove that they made a mistake in letting him go.

Assuming that the Jets stay healthy and Trent Williams doesn't play, the game will probably come town to whether SF's OL can contain the Jets' pass rush, and stop the Jets' rushing attack, and whether if the Jets can contain McCafferty, and pressure/sack Purdy.

I don't know how good SF's defense/and run defense in specific are, but if they can't stop the Jets rushing attack, I don't see any way they can win. I can see the Jets rushing for close to 200 yards and Rodgers throwing for 200-300 yards, and Purdy getting sacked 3-5 times, possibly fumbling or throwing a pick. I think the Jets are highly motivated to set the tone for the season with a strong opening game. It could become a laugher.

With SF doubling Q, expect Kinlaw & JJ to have monster games

Thanks for clarifying the Brownlee situation. I was curious. They do have a stout practice squad.

I do think there is a level of collusion forming in the NFL when it comes to poaching other teams cuts. And it is somewhat driven by the massive amount of cuts in one day.

The thought being, ‘If you steal my guys, I’m gonna steal your guys, so let’s just leave each other alone’.

We wait ALL year for the NFL to start. As al lof you i am extremely excited about the Jets and game one. I find out last night (I'm a Directv user) - ESPN is blacked out/dropped in a contract dispute between Disney. Guess who plays on Mnday night ESPN ? OYE ! My local ABC channel seems to be carrying it but im still paranoid it will and not get blacked out. Of course i would pay for a streaming service for a month to watch the game. However thisis total BS and us consumers alwasy end up on the short end of the stick. Jets 27 - 49ers 24

Do what I did - drop DirectTV and get YouTubeTV. Best move ever. Much less expensive, account travels where ever you go including on cellphone, no issues with weather - and you can get Sunday Ticket too. I am not being paid for advertising either. 😀

Oh me too. But it was interesting to see this full article released just days after that character assassination by the Athletic. At the end of the day, him delivering on the field is all that matters.

I canceled my subscription to The Athletic following that article.

I’ve been a subscriber to the Athletic from the beginning.

When they were bought out by The NY Times, some of their writers tried to go political a certain way. It didn’t work for the team beat writers.

Their sports hit pieces format matches The NY Times political format. I REFUSE TO GO INTO A POLITICAL RANT IN A SPORTS column.

The one thing the Times did was get rid of most of their Time sports employees and replace them with all Athletic writers columns.

I agree, but the senile Old Gray Lady can't help itself, it's completely mired itself in the political arena. It's no longer an actual news source,

The first week after the Times took over. One of the Athletic’s columnists wrote a piece, I don’t remember the subject, because I stopped reading it after 3 paragraphs, it reeked of the Times agenda. Luckily, someone there smartened up and they let the sports team writers write about sports.

Thanks for the Jason Garrett quote on Rodgers, and the quotes from the article from Jets players about Rodgers. I wasn't worried, but still, it's great to see affirmation of what I thought to be true.

Thanks for the great stats on how the Jets LBs and secondary did a great job against TEs last season. If they can repeat that against Kittle, the Jets should win.
