Good Morning, your article for the Jets UK Channel is just excellent, very nice summary of the off season, that gives us all a certain perspective and a sense of optimism entering training camp.. A MUST READ. At the end of the article, it is mentioned that JD may not be done. Qunniin is now sighed to a long term lucrative but fair contract. Williams stirs the drink for the Defense. Now it’s time to restructure Aaron Rodgers. Rumor has it that Aaron is committing to a three year contract.. My GUESS, 3 years 156 million, 125 Guaranteed, with a 56 million signing bonus, and two void years tacked on. Estimated impact on 2023 CAP is 12 million, leaving us with 10 million with McDonald & Tippman left to sign.Kindly note, the Jets haven’t posted a couple of contracts, and restructures of Davis and Moseley are still possible. Pretty murky but the picture is starting to clear up.

hey JetOrange!

absolutely, Williams is the straw that stirs the drink. I have hopes and visions that Quinnen will become for us, what J.J. Watt was for the Houston Texans. The Heart and Soul of a Glorious D. 100 Plus sacks over the span of 9-10 years. Klecko V2.0.

Super happy to hear AR is possibly going to do a 3 yr commitment. Man, imagine if we get TWO rings outta dat? And stomp over the NE patsies along the way, preferably in a MetLife hosted playoff game.

Belicheck would have ulcers and suffer sexual dysfunction for six months!

I didn't realize that neither Tippman nor McDonald had signed yet. That isn't good. Unless they sign today, they will miss invaluable reps.

On your survey, the question that requires pick 3 choices, would only let me pick one

As camp opens, I’m sure the whole Jet organization and the Jet fan base hope for the same thing, NO INJURIES.

While they are inevitable, we just hope that the team has no season ending or career ending injuries. Also, if there are some, we can only hope that it’s in a position group that is deep.

Football is a game of production, results and excelling at your position. When most writers and fans pick out a certain player, it is because he hasn’t or isn’t capable of producing at the NFL level, perfect example Ashtyn Davis. It’s not his fault he was a third round pick but unfortunately he hasn’t performed to his draft position.

90 players will be reporting to 32 teams in the coming days that’s a total of 2,880. 53 of the each team will make the roster, that’s 1,696. Unfortunately that leaves 1,184 players who’s dreams will get crushed. That’s the harsh reality about an NFL career.

That’s it for me, time to get a snack.

With 16 man Practice Squads , the dream continues for many. If your on the PS for all 17 weeks your making close to 300 K, which is enough to finance the dream. Watching PS movement through the season is a sport by itself.

As crazy as it sounds, one of the few positive effects of covid was how the NFL was forced to expand the practice squad, allow bringing back players from IR and I THINK they changed practice squad eligibility. Didn’t they at one time not allow players who had a certain amount of roster experience, eligible for the PS. Now it seems 8 year vets are being added on to the PS

Like it, improves player safety, extends players careers

Yes, in addition to expanding the PS, they allowed each team to have 2 players (I think) with experience, and they also changed the rules about QB eligibility so that in emergencies, a QB on the PS can play in a game. They also changed the rules about when players are activated from the PS, not having to pass thru waivers for the first 2-3 times they go back to the PS.

For those that are interested, here's the link to The Jet Press article ranking the 10 Best RBs in Jets' History: https://thejetpress.com/posts/ranking-top-10-running-backs-ny-jets-history

It is amazing how quickly Sauce has been recognized as a great player. I was very wrong about him, and I'm glad that the Jets drafted him.

TC is going to be very interesting. I agree, NO injuries, please! I definitely think we'll see Breece at some point. If they're having to hold him back, then he must be feeling good, little or no pain, and should probably be ready to go.

Unless I've misjudged Becton, I think he's going to come out and play like his hair is on fire. He should be quicker, has a chip on his shoulder, and is playing for a contract. I expect that he will have some initial rust, but once that is gone, he will dominate. With Duane Brown being out, that will give Becton a lot more reps to shake off the rust and return to form. It will also help speed the development of Carter Warren.

In general, I think TC is going to be too early to tell a lot about Zach. I think it will be preseason before we can tell whether or not Zach is progressing. Hopefully, his fundamentals are fixed. I think he will be more relaxed, and hope that he will be more confident, and that his confidence will grow, If Hackett is as good a teacher and communicator as is advertised, I think Zach will be more confident and poised. I think he will learn a lot from Rodgers during TC and with all the reps he will get.

I would love to see Tony Adams win the starting FS job and Amos the starting SS job.

I think Rodgers is going to make a huge difference in this offense this season. His experience, his experience in this scheme, his relationship with Hackett and WRs Cobb and Lazard, and his attention

to detail and precise execution, should have this offense running like a well-tuned Ferrari engine. I think he is going to be huge G. Wilson's development as well.

IMO there could be several surprise cuts. I think the leading candidate is McGovern. I think Tippman beats him out for the starting job and Schweitzer does as well for the backup job. Hall and Carter could also be cuts. I am going to be interested to see where Bernard-Converse lines up and how he fares. If he's at CB and looks good, then Hall could be a goner. If it's at S, and both he and Adams look then maybe even Whitehead's roster spot could be in jeopardy, but I doubt that happens.

I look for Tomlinson to have a big bounce back year. For starters, he's been too good in his career. Second, he had his best years in SF under OL Coach Carter. Third, there may have been other reasons as well, but I think he struggled last year because of all the injuries on the OL and constantly different OL lineups, Brown struggling with the bad shoulder, MLF's predictable and bad playcalling, and Zach's abysmally poor play. If he doesn't bounce back, the Jets can't cut him as they'd take a big cap hit of $10,880,000.

I have no doubts that Tippman will be the starter opening. Even though McGovern is a veteran, he isn't very good, and he's as new to this scheme as Tippman. He has some advantage because of his experience and having played in a similar scheme with Denver and the Jets, but with Tippman being bigger, stronger, more athletic, having made protection calls in college, and being a better pass protector, I think he will win the job.

I'm very excited about McDonald, but I disagree that the Jets should even think about trading Huff. Huff had the best pressure rate of ANY Jets pass rusher last season, and he was one of the top pass rushers in the NFL last season in terms of percentage of success in pressuring opposing QBs. Particularly with the Jets shooting for the playoffs and the SB, I think it would be unwise, if not downright foolish to trade him, I don't care what they were offered in return. Getting a 2nd round pick wouldn't prevent a strength from becoming a weakness. Injuries happen. I wouldn't trade him for a first round pick. IMO he's that valuable. Having too many pass rushers is a nice problem to have. It points to the great job that JD has done in building the team. He also offers some flexibility in that in a pinch, he could probably play LB since he played LB in high school and college until his last year at Memphis. Also, if they wanted to blitz more this season, they could play Huff at a LB spot. He has the speed and experience rushing the passer from the LB position, and that would give the opposing offense something more to think about. He could blitz or be a decoy and a DB or Mosely could blitz.

IMO Clemons should primarily play inside. If not, it was foolish of him to put on 20 pounds of muscle. He wasn't fast or really agile anyway, and he's probably even less so now. With Lawson, JFM, Huff, and McDonald at Edge, I think they'd be better served with Clemons at DT beside Q. While Saleh and Ulbrich have done a great job with the D, as I think you pointed out David (or maybe it was someone else here) they need to adjust their rotation scheme this season, and instead of substituting whole lines, they need to alternate Jefferson and Woods in the right situations. I'd add Clemons to that and he can play either run or pass. While I understand why you think Clemons should play DT on 3rd and long, I disagree with you on that assessment. He doesn't have the speed to win and pull a blocker away from Q. I think 3rd and short is where he should be at DT. Then opponents will be less able to run the ball and if they pass, he can still push the pocket, whereas if Jefferson is in on 3rd and short they could run the ball right through Jefferson, or if Woods is in, they could pass. On 3rd and long, I think JFM or Jefferson needs to be at DT beside Q and they need to blitz more often to keep opposing offenses off balance.

I don't know what to think about Hall. He's been a good Jet, but he isn't fast or good enough to start. If they can upgrade the depth at CB and it means he goes, so be it.

While I'd love to see Kuntz develop into a topnotch TE, I just don't see it happening. I hope he proves me wrong, and blows the lid off during TC and preseason, but at this point, I can't see wasting a roster spot for him, especially since UDFA E.J. Jenkins has close to the same athleticism, a lot more production in college, and Jenkins will probably make it onto the PS. If Kuntz shows a lot in TC, I hope the Jets will keep him under wraps during preseason, then maybe he can make it to the PS.

Thanks for your great work, David. I think all of us are pretty excited about the return of Jets FB. Though I'm a retired English teacher, I'm not at all the grammar police. That being said, I'm wondering if your article might have a typo: "Hardman has averaged 13.8 yards a carry since entering the league in 2019". I'm assuming you mean YAC? Keep up the great work and go JETS!

I'm not certain, but it could be YPC. I believe that the Chiefs used him on End arounds and Jet sweeps fairly often and he was very successful at those, so that 13.8 YPC could be accurate.

Chauncey Gardener Johnson at 6.5 , seriously, missed opportunity ? Seems a perfect fit. Johnny Johnson is still available. Do not understand how the Jets value Safeties.

Morning ya'll,

I may be in the minority on this one, but I'm relatively content with where the Jets stand at safety. They've got a young-ish box safety who should, conceivably, play closer to the level of his defensive-backfield-mate. I'm pretty excited about the prospect of an all-around talent like Adrian Amos bringing such a high floor to the position. He was one of the best coverage safeties between 2017-2021, with last year being his first down year (most of his poor performance, admittedly, was coverage). I'm content with betting on a guy like that bouncing back, especially when he is isn't, necessarily, over the hill (30 years old.....debatable, I think).

I've checked out some of the safety rankings over the last couple of years and I'm not seeing John Johnson III being rated much higher (if higher at all; usually, Adrian Amos is rated as a better safety) than Adrian Amos. Last year, Johnson was finally able to leap ahead of Amos in terms of PFF grade, but that didn't seem to change the rankings of a number of the prognosticators. They still liked Amos more. It's also notable that these two fellas are the same type of safety. They're all-around dudes who aren't, necessarily box safeties or free safeties. What they definitely are not are slot safeties, which is why I think they didn't follow through on signing a guy like Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. This dude has only graded out as a useful player when he's thrown into the slot, and I don't get the impression the Jets see that as a need.

I, also, think it's notable to consider the kind of player Jordan Whitehead is. He's, essentially, an undersized box safety. To his credit, he was quite good in this role during his time in Tampa. He struggled last year, however. The things he does well, however, are still there. He's fearless in sticking his nose into the action and is always coming down hill at 100 miles per hour. I think there were a couple of bits of information that suggested improvement, however, that came to light during the small dose of Chuck Clark we received during OTAs. There was a lot of talk about the improved communication and play between our safeties. This, to me, hints at improvement coming in the form of a better safety opposite of Jordan. A dude who he can lean on while he gets back on track seems to be the way things are shaping up. I get the impression that Lamarcus Joyner, for as awful as we all felt about having that dude on the field, represented an even bigger liability for his teammates. I'm hoping that there are A LOT of three safety sets with Amos and Adams covering the middle two quarters (the Jets are definitely a team that leans into quarters and two-high sets as opposed to the kind of single-high sets that'd require an Earl Thomas-style free safety) and Whitehead dropping down into that intermediate area and patrolling the alleys.

Good morning fellow fanatics! Thank you David for another great week starter. Too many good points to hit on and as usual Bobber has already covered it all and has probably typed in more info than you did!😂 He’s a tough act to follow. We invited him into our FB group and now no one wants to read what I post as he steals the show almost every day😂! I completed the survey and read the other newsletter so it truly has been a fun morning for me. 👍

I've never used Facebook before.

Oh well, just enjoy yourselves over there, I won't be dealing with this. To hell with those Ben'n'Jerry lovin', Commie Nutlickers.
