Though it’s his second year as a HC, Saleh is basically a rookie. Last year, no one had any high expectations, so there was no pressure. The Jets this year started doing the unexpected, winning. Now Saleh has the pressure on him. He has shown some nicks in his armor.

Problem one is LeFleur, was he hired because he had a great offensive mind or because his brother is Saleh’s best friend or a combination of both.

LeFleur has also been ripped as of late because of his play calling.

Ironically just like Zach, he was hidden by the fact that Breece Hall was an exceptional talent. Hall goes down, both Zach and Lefleur get exposed.

It doesn’t help that the Jets offensive line has been hammered by key injuries all season, but LeFleur’s job is to find ways to adapt to bad situations.

Lately, it’s been disastrous, is it all Zach or is LeFleur part of the problem. This team rarely runs a running back screen. If I see another Berrios in motion screen that the league has figured out, I’ll scream. Where is the 3 step drop and pass to offset 8 in the box, is it being called or is it that Zach can’t process it. The Jets definitely need a veteran offensive coach to assist LeFleur or to replace him. If Saleh doesn’t agree than Douglas better act because Woody for all his faults reads and reacts to everything out there. He might want a change which wouldn’t bode well for either Douglas or Saleh.

As far as Saleh goes, why does every HC who the Jets hire who was a DC lack the most rudimentary knowledge of clock management. Saleh hired a clock coach, where was he at the end of the Lion game, in the mens room.

Saleh’s comments concerning Wilson Lately are very confusing. One example, after Thursday night’s fiasco, “ I see progress in Zach”, enough said.

Hey coach your job is to win games, it’s not to hold a players hand during rough times especially when the player isn’t performing. Where’s the progress.

As far as Zach’s concerned, I wouldn’t let him be active for the rest of the year. If White can’t play in Seattle than it’s Flacco and Strevler time. Saleh says Zach has confidence issues, why make them worse by putting him into a must win situation. His body language resonates defeat. It almost looked like the whole team took Zach’s persona thursday.

The season started with high hopes and improvement from Zach and lower expectations for the rest of the team and the opposite happened.

I strongly believe the Jets need a gray beard in the Offensive room. The had Gregg Knapp (RIP) then replaced GN with Matt Cavanaugh. MC retired song the Senior Offensive Coach position is vacant...

HIRE FRANK REICH NOW!!! Pl ease, before someone else does. He’s brilliant, experienced, from NY, played for the Jets, and he’s exactly what we need to mentor Zach. Calabrese & MLF are not getting the best out of Zach.

Happy Holiday to you all.

Go Jets

Would like to add one more comment - check out Sam Darnold's season stats - guess if you have coaching and a running attack you can do okay

If you think about it, a practice squad Qb is literally a top 100 quarterback in the country. How can a top QB in the country not be able to complete a deep pass? Just doesn't make sense, but anyways thats besides the point. Wilson is finished here in NY and Saleh has been too light on him. I get he is the head coach and its his job to protect his players but cmon man! We have an opportunity to turn this season around in the next two weeks. Great read Dave!

Mike White gets medical clearance, starting against SeaHawks, unreasonable optimism, meaningful games in January, how great is that ! !

Lawson was dominant for a minute before his injury a couple of years ago. He's not that effective these days. Is he still recovering, or is this the new Lawson? If we get eliminated from the playoffs, it would be great to see his snaps go to JJ, Clemons, Huff

Is Huff that bad at decisioning that he can't be left out there in any non-obvious passing down?

The OL is so disappointing, even despite the injuries. How many of the pressures were Wilson's fault? Fant went from asking for a contract and starting job to being a liability - is he still injured?

MLF - I agree on lack of Uzomah use.

-I'd love to see more 2 TE sets too. The delayed passes to TE work so often.

-I'd like to see more play action when running is working - it doesn't need to just be for a big homerun. Use it to keep the defense guessing, which could help the running game

-We use motion a lot but it hasn't seemed to help ZW. But likely use it more with White, to show defense coverages

-we're still not taking advantage of Garrett and Moore. They keep trying to make them contested catch deep ball guys instead of using their route running abilities to get open. Miami uses this so well

This offense should be good at stressing the LB group, making them commit in high low, but we don't see it often enough

Is James Robinson not even better as a change of pace guy?

Agreed. He has 85 yards against the Jets, so getting 515 in the next two games shouldn't be a problem. But he was recently quoted as saying he's 100% and didn't come to New York to sit on the bench. Maybe he's not a good locker-room guy. We know that's a big thing for Saleh. But with the RB room as shallow and banged up as it is, we need all hands on deck. If JR was healthy, he should have had the chance to run it up on the team that gave up on him (JAX).

Cannot really separate Wilson from LeFleur and offensive line problems.

Wilson might not be good enough or just needs better development but one cannot know when offensive line play is so poor.

I thought when defense fills the box then short passes is the antidote for 1st and 2nd down. We throw short passes on 3rd down because we are 3rd and long and QB is pressured..

Lastly, running the ball up the gut allows offensive line to attack defense otherwise they are on their heels all game - advantage attacking defense.

We still have a chance at gettin' into the Show -

K, guys - next week's game bet phish and pats - root for the phish! The pats would then go against Buffalo in the final week, so they're out.

Which obviously means we must beat both the Seahawks this coming week, and Miami to close out the season. Let's hope Tua stays in his funk for that game.

Titans are another playoff team, but they finish against the Cowboys, so am not worried about that.

Here's to Mike White killin' everybody these next two weeks, and seeing our team get their mojo back.

Why was James Robinson inactive?! Bam wasn’t healthy, MC1 May not be either, and JAX was a perfect revenge game motivator for JR.

I was sceptical about the coaching staff earlier in the season, thinking they met the Hot Young Thing criteria and not much else, but gradually saw improvement week upon week so I withheld my reservations.

What has happened in the last few games that they have been exposed again? You watch the games more closely and repeatedly than I have the stomach for. It goes without saying that I’m talking specifically about the offense. Saleh’s clock management is appalling but that’s not why the team is losing; the games have been lost long before then. Although it does make you worry about how games will be managed in the future when the roster is healthy and the competitive window firmly open. The main issue with him is the decision making. The handling of the last couple of minutes against Buffalo stuck out to me, choosing to kick the field goal in great field position on 4th and short, down 11. If you get the ball back at all it’s easier to get to FG-range than it is to score a touchdown. Timeouts are allowed to be taken before the last two minutes too. It’s like he’s never done this or even thought about it before.

Since the main concern is the offense, is the OC anything more than just a “nepo-baby”, as is becoming vogue to discuss in other industries at the moment? That was my initial impression of him, particularly if you look at his CV and the decisions he made proactively this season (that second drive of the season heavily featuring Cager*, 5’10 Elijah Moore marooned on the outside, not game planning quick throws for Flacco). I do put most of Zach Wilson’s lack of development on Zach Wilson, but how can competent management / coaching not be able to develop that talent into a net neutral component at a minimum?

I was automatically inclined to side with Moore when he was disillusioned a few weeks ago, partly because I’m always suspicious when people who don’t know what’s going on are too quick to jump on the back of a young black man expressing frustration at something (granted this is way different to the other things they are right to be frustrated about, plus his timing was shocking), but it was mainly that I didn’t trust the OC or his staff to make the right decisions proactively. Learning from your mistakes is great, but at some point you have to question why successful calls tend largely to follow negative results and feedback. Surely some of what you originally intended needs to work? Working these things out is what entry-level jobs and Madden are for; you can’t be doing that in the big leagues. That underlines my nepo-baby point. Getting a job you don’t have the credentials for to begin with is one thing, but when you aren’t getting it done when you’re there it begs the questions. Would Joe Mazzula be in a job right now if his team was making the same use of its talent as the Jets? They have injuries too.

*Remember that guy? How many times has he been active on gameday since then?
