Edition #1202: Saying hello! Has anything happened with your New York Jets?

The vast majority of TJW subscribers come from five countries. USA, UK, Canada, Australia and Germany. So considering all five of those countries have made it through to the knockout stage of the World Cup, there should be plenty of happy faces this morning. Especially in Canada, who punched their ticket to the R16 with a win against South Africa last night. Many congratulations!

I know not everyone is a fan of the World Cup, but when the NFL is in the off-season, NBA is finished, NHL is finished and the Mets are playing as bad as they are…it’s my sports lifeline. Norwich are back in training today so get your yellow and green scarves ready (looking at you Bobber). There are still two Canaries left in the World Cup in Ali Ahmed (Canada) and Mo Toure (Australia).

All’s quiet on the Jets front. As far as I can find there has been no update regarding Geno Smith and the allegations he’s facing. Most players are off on their travels, Aaron Glenn is probably down south fishing, and at least for a few weeks it’s going to be nice and quiet.

I found a couple of notes from Nashon Wright and ESPN, but no news is usually good news at this point of the off-season.

• Nashon Wright has been left impressed with what the Jets have in the building, and loved the moves the Jets made this offseason:

  • “Man, you got Stigs, who’s a tremendous player, you got B. Stephens, who’s been around the league, I mean, just as long as me, and been a starter since he’s been in the league, and then you got AZ, who’s young and can play ball, he’s super, he’s long, lengthy, and I think he’s, he’s going to be great for us.”

  • “I think AG and this organization in general did a good job of bringing in veteran presence, like [LB] Demario [Davis]. I think Demario has been kind of at the forefront of everything, and just kind of leading us, and everybody kind of taking heed to that, and just kind of following him.”

• NFL.com have been releasing their top 100 player list and new Jets linebacker Demario Davis made the list at #95

  • After five straight years on the NFL Top 100, the venerable Davis was absent in 2025. His final season with the Saints led to a return to the all-star squad on his way back to the Jets, who signed the 14-year NFL veteran whom they drafted in the third round back in 2012. The two-time Pro Bowler set a career high in tackles during his age-36 season, helping to rally a young New Orleans squad down the stretch. He’ll be looking to lend his wisdom -- and tackling prowess -- to New York this fall.

  • NFL Pro Insight for Davis: Davis recorded 20 run stuffs, good for third in the NFL.

• Talking of Demario Davis. Rich Cimini had an article out detailing the lengths he goes to to stay healthy, spending $1M annually. Considering he’s only missed one game due to injury, I would say it’s working…

  • “His physical therapy includes cupping (the use of suction cups to enhance blood flow) and scraping (the therapist uses tools to target stressed muscles, tendons and ligaments). He also uses dry-needle therapy, a hyperbaric chamber and red-light therapy, which uses near-infrared light to stimulate cellular activity and blood circulation.”

• According to ESPN, the Jets have the 12th best skill position group in the NFL when you combine TE/WR and RB. Considering that was ranked 27th last year, that’s a testament to what Darren Mougey has done:

  • “There’s also more in the cupboard around those guys (Wilson & Hall) than there has been in years past. First-round pick Omar Cooper Jr. might not offer the most exciting upside of any wideout in this draft, but the player out of Indiana should be able to take advantage of the attention directed at Wilson and run away from defensive backs after the catch. Adonai Mitchell showed some flashes after being acquired in midseason. And while Mason Taylor struggled with drops and didn’t create many big plays as a rookie, the in-line tight end should be joined by a more athletic option in first-rounder Kenyon Sadiq this season. Imagine how excited you would be if this group played with Josh Allen in Buffalo, and you start to get an idea of why the Jets rank higher than expected here.”

• Rich Cimini believes the ship has sailed on the Jets signing Cooper Rush:

  • “I think the Cooper Rush thing, that ship has sailed. I mean, there is Josh Dobbs out there. I think if the Jets made a move, it would have to be someone who is currently on a roster … I would keep an eye on, like the Philadelphia [Eagles] situation, they have a lot of quarterbacks there. Andy Dalton, are they going to keep four quarterbacks on their roster? I don’t know, they say they can do that, but that’s a lot. So I would keep an eye on that situation. I think it would be more of a player who is on a roster,”
