*****READER ALERT******SOME REDUNDANT THOUGHTS

My wife will tell you that probably my worst attribute is that I hold grudges and I have a really hard time forgiving. She is 101% right.

Saleh worst attributes as a HC is that he wants to be everyone’s friend and he BSss like a used car salesman.

It is very hard to take his statements seriously when he speaks about last year’s offense.

Most of the young guys he speaks about are no longer on this roster.

Yes, injuries played a part in these young guys players being here, but incompetency also was involved.

To try to start an 38 year old offensive tackle coming off of rotator cuff surgery must have been on every DCs game plans that were scheduled to play the Jets last year.

The fact the brain trust thought they could survive with Zach Wilson as the backup was the second worst decision over not signing a veteran. Of course, having Tim Boyle as Zach’s backup shows the height of incompetency never before exhibited in an NFL franchise.

My point is I am exhausted reading about Saleh’s quotes about the offense. He lied to the fan base every week about how the offense was a tweak away from being a fun offense to watch. I really wished he would stay away from the offense.

Unfortunately, if he stays away from the offense, that basically leaves Hackett and Carter in charge of the offense, talking about a Catch-22 situation.

Many fans whether it is true or false say that Rodgers is running this organization.

I truly hope he becomes the DeFacto OC, I bet Saleh hopes the same thing.

As a rugby fan here in the UK, I would love to see Louis make it, but history suggests the odds are stacked against him. As you said David, it's all about the intricacies of the game.

The closest comparison is Christian Wade, who was a prolific try scorer in English rugby and signed with the Bills in 2019. He ran in a 65-yard TD run that pre-season which gave everyone hope, but that was as good as it got and he was released in 2022.

Long time UK Jets fans may remember Victor Ebubedike, who was one of the UK heroes on the London Monarchs World League team - he became the first British non-kicker to make an NFL camp when he signed with the Jets in 1990 but didn't last the summer.

Lawrence Okoye was another talented athlete, competing for Great Britain in the discus in the 2012 Olympics before trying out for the NFL. The Jets were one of six teams he spent time with between 2013 & 2017 but it never happened for him and he returned to athletics.

The better examples are guys like Jack Crawford and Jay Ajayi who learned the basics in college first which made them more NFL ready, and even with a success story like Efe Obada, it took three years from appearing in an NFL camp to actually starting a game.

Maybe Louis is the guy to break the mould, but don't hold your breath.

I found the comments of Jerry Jones pretty interesting on letting go Tyron Smith, a Hall of Fame Left Tackle, we just couldn’t afford it , if he hit all of his incentives. Every acquisition that Joe Douglas made this year was with CAP strapped teams. The biggest example is the Ravens, Moses , Simpson and possibly Clowney became available primarily because the CAP was squeezing the team. The only reason that we had a shot at Mike Williams, was that the Chargers were desperate to get under the CAP. The Cowboys CAP wasn’t great, but they could have moved money around for the veteran Tackle, but they chose not to, and Douglas pounced and changed the direction of the franchise.

EVIDENTLY THE HCs GO TO THE OWNERS MEETINGS.

THERE WAS A COACHES BREAKFAST WHERE HCs ARE ASKED QUESTIONS

SALEHS TIME FOR QUESTIONS WAS 8AM TODAY

FOLLOWING ARE HIS QUOTES

Robert Saleh said Mike Williams has got a "long way to go" coming off his ACL injury. Said he's on a similar timeframe to Breece Hall last year.

"He has a long way to go" - Robert Saleh on WR Mike Williams. Said speaking to him, he knows he has a "road to trek."

Adds that he's a "dynamic" receiver whom the Jets have been high on for awhile.

Saleh on acquiring injury-prone free agents: Dynamic if they can stay on the field. Injuries part of the game. #Jets

Robert Saleh said they feel good about the young offensive linemen that had to play last year being good depth pieces this year. Aka Carter Warren, Max Mitchell, etc.

Aaron Rodgers is expected to be able to participate in spring, Robert Saleh said.

Saleh on Rodgers' VP things: He didn't have a reaction. Says it was viewed differently in the football world than the political world.

Robert Saleh said he expects Aaron Rodgers to be available to do things in the spring (OTAs, minicamp). Adds a reason for that is because those have become a 7-on-7 passing camp.

Asked Robert if there's anything off the field that would keep him from OTAs. He smiled: "Not that I'm aware of."

Coach Saleh on WR Mike Williams: "We've been a big fan of his for awhile."

Tyrod Taylor has "elite locker-room presence," per Saleh.

Robert Saleh on Woody Johnson saying he'll be more involved with the offense, said nothing is changing. he'll be involved in all three phases.

Robert Saleh said he doesn't feel added pressure from Woody Johnson saying they need to win now.

"I don't think anybody's confidence is shook. We are confident we will achieve the things we need to achieve."

HC Robert Saleh asked if this season is one where anything short of playoffs is a failure. "I'll never say that."

HC Saleh asked if he agrees with the premise that a coach in his fourth year has to make the playoffs.

"I guess you could say that."

Robert Saleh on Javon Kinlaw, who overlapped for one season in SF: "His career is still ascending."

Robert Saleh on the premise that it's a failure if he doesn't make the playoffs in his fourth year: "I guess you could say that. But the pressure to win is always there in the NFL."

Robert Saleh: "Winning offseasons doesn't matter. You've gotta win football games."

Robert Saleh asked about recent reports of the #Jets dysfunction.

"When you don't achieve what you're supposed to achieve people are going to take their shots (...) Outside noise is outside noise."

Said Sauce Gardner spoke about culture.

Saleh on whether this season is a failure if they don't make the playoffs: "I'll never say that

Saleh on not re-signing Huff: Always disappointed when lose good players, happy for him.

Robert Saleh said the #Jets will "obviously" add another quarterback to the room behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor.

AVT (Achilles) is expected for week 1, Saleh says. #Jets

Robert Saleh said “we’re not done” with the safety position.

Robert Saleh on Aaron Rodgers saying he wants to eliminate distractions with the #Jets: "Distractions would be eliminated with winning."

Saleh won't comment on status of Zach Wilson, passes that one off to Joe Douglas.

Robert Saleh on Jadeveon Clowney, would only say "the more the merrier" when it comes to pass rushers.

"You know me with pass rushers -- the more the merrier." Robert Saleh on Jadeveon Clowney.

I was told he had a "good" visit with the Jets. Sides remain in contact. He's weighing options.

Saleh won't talk more on it. Said that's more a question for Joe Douglas -- who we will speak to later.

In constant talks with Corey Davis: "Our door is always going to be open for him."

"When you lose you're a loser." - #Jets HC Robert Saleh

Robert Saleh on Nathaniel Hackett: "I know he will be (better). When you lose, you're a loser. I suck, Joe D sucks, we all suck. It goes with the territory. The best thing we can do is put our heads down and go to work.

Robert Saleh said he is not going to go into report the #Jets feel Mecole Hardman shared game plans with opposition.

Said he "appreciates" Hardman, adds Xavier Gipson beat him out.

Robert Saleh confirms the goal is to keep Alijah Vera-Tucker at right guard. #Jets

Robert Saleh said he expects Izzy Abanikanda to take a jump but "the running back room is not done yet.

Robert Saleh on Woody Johnson being angry, said "Woody provides a lot of good insight" and said he's offered good guidance all offseason. "His words are always welcomed and his frustrations are shared by everyone."

Robert Saleh says the Jets are not done with the safety position, but he is excited for Tony Adams and Chuck Clark returning

Saleh said the Jets will make changes with how they handle the offensive line in spring and summer in hopes of cutting down on injuries. He won't get into specifics.

To prevent injuries, especially the OL, Saleh says there will be changes in terms of their regimen. He won't share specifics, but they did study the injury rate and ways to solve it.

Robert Saleh on Keith Carter and players expressing frustration: "For Keith, he is a hard charging football coach ... he's a damn good football coach. Sometimes messaging can get lost. I know he's working on all that stuff. I'm not worried about his ability to coach this football team."

Emphasizing how much the #Jets improved as a run blocking team over the season.

Robert Saleh says OL coach Keith Carter is a "hard-charging football coach." Said when he was in Tennessee, they were among best running teams in NFL and they fell off when he left.

Called him a "damn good" football coach. "Sometimes messaging can get lost in tone."

Players recently called him out.

Robert Saleh on lessons learned from last year: "We gotta win football games."

On a follow-up, said "theres a lot of things I can do differently with regards to messaging ... a lot of things will change."

Saleh on whether Bryce Huff is the toughest free-agent loss they've had under him: "For sure." He's been gushing about Huff this morning, but "you can't keep 'em all."

Robert Saleh said he was looking to add another offensive coach but said that he decided Nathaniel Hackett and Todd Downing will be enough.

Saleh doesn't anticipate any further staff changes. Todd Downing will be the QBs coach in addition to passing-game coordinator.

coach Robert Saleh says they’ll make adjustments to their offseason program to cut down on injuries. Also says part of the reason for keeping OL Alijah Vera-Tucker in one spot is to keep him healthy. Player availability is clearly a priority for Saleh and the team in 2024.

The #Jets were looking to add a senior voice to their offensive staff earlier this offseason. They weren't able to land those they targeted. Robert Saleh said they will now go into this season with their current staff. They don't plan on adding anyone else right now.

“I think Joe’s done a really nice job.” - Robert Saleh

FROM CIMINI

A telling quote from Saleh on Bryce Huff: "Elite pass rusher. Closes games. People want to say that all he does is rush the passer, but all Mariano Rivera did was close ninth innings."

The Yankees never let Mariano walk in free agency.

Saleh on disappointment of losing Huff: "You’re always disappointed. When we first got here, we said our job was to make Joe D’s job hard in regards to signing guys. I’m really excited for Bryce and his opportunity."

It all sounds pretty standard. They like the young guys. They like the guys they brought in. They like the guys they have around. They're making changes. This is pretty run of the mill stuff, I guess. I like that they're looking at how they handle the physical regimen for the offensive line. That's encouraging. It's also nice that he mentioned that, sometimes, Carter's point might have gotten lost in the way he says things. It sounds like they're working on improving. Good on them.

From the sounds of it, Saleh just revealed the Jets' plan/hand. Hopefully not. Hopefully, it's just more Saleh BS or perhaps lies to throw other teams off. If true, then they're not going to draft an OT. They like Mitchell and Warren. That means that it IS likely that they will draft Bowers, or a WR or maybe the CB they've been linked to.

Expand full comment

Meh; I don't think you read too much into the comments about the young guys. Mitchell being on the team doesn't, necessarily, mean they won't draft an offensive linemen high. It does, however, mean that they aren't going to reach for somebody they don't love just to fill a perceived need. I, kind of, like that.

The Jets have not had a Sterling reputation for developing Offensive players but that could change with Louis Rees-Zammit. This young man, is 195 pounds player that can run a 4.2, with strong hands and YAC ability. The plan is pretty obvious, this is the next Robbie Anderson, the Chosen. No complex route trees, make it simple, a one trick pony, but it’s a great trick, that can transform an Offense. Douglas needs to be bold and get this done immediately.

I do think he could be a pretty good returner in the NFL as well. Strong hands, good speed, good elusivity and having played rugby all his life, he's used to getting hit hard and hanging onto the ball.

According to what I read yesterday he weighed in around 210. He’s an intriguing guy. The Jets had a RB a couple years ago who was obviously in over his head. This could be a win win situation because you really have nothing to loose bringing him in.

I took his weight off his old rugby bio, but he certainly looks like he's carrying north of 200lbs

Steve, yeah but it was basically the same old BS he’s been spewing since he arrived here. Just words. There’s no conviction when he speaks. Just a lot of empathy promises. Honestly I can’t wait until Woody finally pulls the plug on this guy. I understand you want to be optimistic. You just shelled out big bucks 💵for your seasons tickets. But Saleh’s yet to deliver on any of his promises so his credibility is in the toilet for me.

I understand - and this seems to be most fans right now. I am in no way giving him a pass. However, year 1 have to throw out - Gase and Macgaden left no roster to win with. Year 2 they decied to go with a new QB. Mistake was choosing him to start. With that being said - we all find out the QB drafted was a bust. But they won 7 games somehow. Year 3 the HOF QB goes does 4 plays in. The o-line is totally injured. Still win 7 games somehow. Myself for the collective failure of the GM and Coach would have said goodbye after those 3 years (and more for the GM). Bottom line - we know the defense has been good for 2 years. Saleh has never had a QB. Why i'm willing to go another year and give the guy a chance.
