Wouldn't say I'm ignoring it, I did it more to learn more about it and what it entailed, what it included, what It didn't. I'd say it's still a concerning stat but in the entire context of a player it can't be the only stat that is focused on and many people do that.
Big Fan of moving up into the first round from 35, to catch a falling star. 69 in theory could get you as high as 22. With Two fourth round picks, great draft capital to move up. Double dipping at Edge & or WR. Jermaine Johnson could go at 4 due to his Senior Bowl performance, and is just a great culture fit. With Johnson at 4, would Douglas consider Walker or Thibs at 10 ? Saleh would. The FA price for WR’s just went through the roof. Jets keeping 4 TE’s, tough to carry 6 WR’s on the 53. But if you take Wilson or Olave at 10. Two bigger WR’s that compliment would be Pickens is a steal at 35, or Alec Pierce, nice size, love the upside, great fit.
Agree there, I do think Pickens would end up going in the low 30's and think that's an absolute steal for his skill set. I think if the Jets do get a Kayvon or JJ at #4, they'll look to address WR or DT at #10 - There's a world I could see the Jets going KT and then Davis or Wyatt at #10 and then wait for the WR at #35, whether that's Pickens or a Dotson, I could see one of those guys falling into our laps.
Pickens is going to be the WR steal of the draft. Olave is a great route runner but is just okay after the catch so it makes sense that he is not the top WR prospect as he is not WR1. We need Wilson but it would not surprise me to see the team double down on D with the first two picks if the brains think the DT they need won’t be there in the second round since Salah’s defensive philosophy needs great linemen or it fails. The holes at DT and E MUST be filled by studs. There is depth in the draft at FS and WR. Not sure we can say same about CB but we know Salah believes they can coach CBs up.
That does make a lot of sense, I think Olave is arguably the most complete receiver in the draft, which may not be the popular choice but I love his ability to high point the ball and I always prefer route-runners over all else, guys who can win off the line...it's part of the reason I like Skyy as well. I would agree with you, I have a feeling we'll see an edge at #4 and then a DT at #10 before picking up maybe a WR and FS in the 2nd round, I love Kerby Joseph as our option at FS.
Seeing as how Cooper Kupp and Davante Adams rocked the league last year, I have a hunch that your faith in route running is the future for winning teams. I read today that the Jets are loving Jameson Williams....he is not the most awesome route runner (might be the reason he couldn't crack the starting lineup at Ohio, but this a total guess on my part based on zero data or inside info) but man, oh man, does he have the frightening SEC speed thing down. Not sure how I feel about Jets drafting a guy in rd 1 who won't play until October or November at best (mainly because MetLife stadium is the worst in the league on knees and legs). Drafting him does NOT immediately help Zach either by giving him a real option to develop chemistry with or preventing the opposition from scoring and so, for me, it is suboptimal to pick Williams unless he falls a long, long way (ditto the center from Iowa). If our draft went E/DT/WR/FS that would be awesome IMHO. But the Jets seem to be are zeroing in a WR1 at 10 and that they will maybe take a DT in the second round (some folks are saying that the Jets don't need any interior help but that comment makes no sense to me given their D scheme and current personnel). I agree with you on JJ and on Joseph. Do you believe Joseph will be available in rd 3? He is a real FS who plays with heart and smarts but taking him round 2 seems high. Also, if by some miracle Brisker is available in rd 2, once you watch the tape, we should sprint to the podium because he would be one of the steals of the draft. He played like the best safety in college last year.m Brisker is a playmaker who just knows how to make a difference. You can't really cannot coach his type of feel for the game and his unique presence deep would transform our secondary.
Not sure why you bothered to do the pass rush win% research if you were just going to ignore the results.
