There is joy in the land where the NY Jet Torch and Pitchfork Brigade roam.
Our leader has returned.
Welcome back David.
For those of us who really appreciate your efforts to keep us informed about the Jets on a daily basis, we understand how hard you labor to keep us updated.
We are all delighted that you and your family are having a wonderful vacation. As Don Corleone said in the Godfather, “ A man who doesn’t spend time with his family is not a man.” Your time away from covering the Jets was well deserved.
The Jet Way first thing in the morning has become as essential to many of us our as our first cup of coffee. Or in Sebastian from Bensonhurst case, an everything bagel with a schmear.
Talking about a cup of coffee, PeeWee Jarrett’s Jet tenure was just as short. Based on social media chatter, unfortunately, his nickname brought about more locker room jokes then words about his football prowess.
The NFL has turned itself into a 11 month a year sport, June information wise is probably the quietest month of the year. HCs, GMs and players are all on vacation in June. There are no camps. It’s like the calm before the storm.
At one time, two days after the draft, there was basically no information out there to read.
Now through the immense expansion of social media, UDFA signings are dissected as intense as the draft. Articles out there, include who has the best UDFA class, top 10 best signings, the best UDFA signing for each team. This you can add to draft grades.
And of course, there has been a plethora of mock 2025 drafts.
Some writers use last years standings, others try to guess next years.
In those, trying to figure out next years, the Jets are drafting anywhere from 20th to 23rd, that hopefully makes them a playoff team.
Draft grades should only be given three years after the fact. They never take into account injuries, coaching and GM changes or the measure of a players heart.
For those of us who participate in fantasy football, Breece Hall is considered 2-3 top running back and no lower than 7th overall in fantasy football rankings. Garrett Wilson is hovering over the 12-16 overall spot.
As noted above, the NFL’s ability to dominate the media world.
This week the schedule will be announced. The media blitz will be on with 3 hour specials with at least 5 football talking heads in each show dissecting every game.
They will be prouder than peacocks 🦚 making team predictions. Of course they never take into consideration injuries, weather and trap games.
By Wednesday the rumors will be starting about certain teams and certain games, which will intensify on Thursday.
In regard to the latest Jet rumors, the Jets in London against either Jacksonville or Vikings. Yippee, a home game for David.
The Jets opening in Tennessee, a one o’clock start.
The NFL and their schedule e release is ridiculous. They hold everyone hostage to make plans cause you dont now when your team is playing. They make it a 12 year sport with this bullshit that basically is just a way to make more money. I've gotten to the point in my old age that i make my plans if the Jets fall on one them oh well -
I really don’t care about traveling to different cities to see games. But I will admit that I wanted to see Lambeau two years ago.
The Saturday after the schedule was released airline tickets to Ohare were disappearing right before my eyes. No direct flights into Green Bay or Appleton 30 miles from Green Bay.
If the opportunity ever happens again the Jets in Green Bay , I would rent a car in Chicago and drive, I spent more time in the airports than at Lambeau.
But honestly, very happy I went, a totally different experience.
I don’t care about traveling either. However with season tickets my point was there are 10 dates I’m waiting for. I’m tired of the NFL holding us hostage for plans on those 10 dates. I never had any desire to go to Green Bay. That place looks like a dump.
Actually not a dump, a game there isn’t a game, it’s an experience. I recommended to all my friends and family who root for different teams, go see your team at Lambeau
Fans have different mind set there, offered me food and drink no matter who I spoke with in the parking lot,
Lambeau is definitely on my list of stadiums that I'd like to visit at some point. I haven't seen a game at Metlife yet but I have visited it.
Atmosphere is important in any stadium environment. Before I went to see PSG play in Paris, I've never felt more threatened in my life, very hostile atmosphere on the trains, outside the ground etc. As a result I vowed to never go back to see a live game in Paris.
Welcome back, David. I'm glad that you're home safely and had such a great time !
I was shocked at how many players the Jets had in for tryouts at the mini-camp this past weekend (71) including 3 veterans: S Obi Melifonwu, RB Qadre Ollison, and CB Breon Borders.
I like the Peasley signing, but don't understand the Suits signing at all. They're all unlikely to make the team anyway, but it seems to me that Pee Wee Jarrett is a better prospect than Colby Suits. While their collegiate completion percentage was about the same, Pee Wee threw for almost twice the yards, 4-5 times more TDs, half the interceptions. He is big and mobile and has what looks to be a very strong and pretty accurate arm in the footage I've seen, whereas Suits is big, but not mobile at all, and his arm doesn't look that strong or that accurate. Do you have any insights into this or can tell me what I'm missing with Suits? I want to use it as a point of learning in assessing QBs.
I just saw something on FanSided about Jarrett being released because of prior injury concerns. Whether or not it means anything is beyond me, as it is FanSided, lol.
Thanks, Mike! Surely, the Jets knew about his prior injuries (whatever they were) but when examined by the Jets' medical staff he must not have passed their medical check.
All of these guys went undrafted for a reason, but PeeWee clearly had the far superior stats in college. I've also wondered if level of competition had something to do with it, as PeeWee played at a smaller school and Junior College, I believe. The QB from Georgia State or Georgia Southern also looked better than Suits on the video I've seen and had better stats.
There's hardly anything online that tells us much about Suits (or Jarrett, for that matter). I found a tiny write-up about Suits saying he has a good arm, confidence, understanding of when to get rid of the rock, etc. Honestly, it's a fools errand trying to decode these practice squad-level players, especially at the bottom of the practice squad. Regarding QB assessment, you might look more to Ron on that front. I know that it's difficult to make much of simple game film unless you know what the plays, progressions, protections are supposed to be, let alone what they look like. It's a lot of guess work that actual pro scouts and front offices are better set up to address considering they have a lot more data to fill in the blanks.
Welcome back David. Glad you had a great trip. I must say my days were not the same and I missed the group of regulars that comment here. Thank you for all for the education and laughter I get from TJW.
Welcome back David !!!! I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation with your family, you deserve it after dealing with all of us reprobates, lol. And believe me, I know all about traveling with young children, been there, done that and still was able to enjoy things. I've missed your daily ruminations and the ensuing havoc they sometimes cause, lol. Looking forward to TC and its own brand of crazy.
Welson back David glad you had a nice family trip. Ws the The Ranger game Sunday and Mosley was there. Guys like him who want to win know the difference between 10 mil or 11 or 12 means nothing. Huff should have taken note - he is one of those mercanary athlets that has no loyalty to no one but himself as long as he gets a buck more then the next guy like so many others.
Glad you're back David and glad you mentioned CJ Mosley. With free agency and the draft done, you look at the roster and think who is the trickiest player to replace if they got injured and for me it's CJ.
As great as Sauce and Garrett are, we seem to have a competent plan B if they had to miss a game or two. Hopefully one of the rookies could cover for Breece and Tyrod is solid cover for Rodgers.
The three big questions for me at the moment are 'What has Rodgers got left?' 'Can a Nathaniel Hackett offense actually work?' and 'What if CJ Mosley was injured?'
I think AR has a lot left. Last year he was ready and got sideswiped. This year a reboot. His arm is live. Escaping the pocket, diminished. We gotta keep him clean.
Hackett Offense, yes, but only with Rodgers.
CJ injured? In walks Sherwood who has backed him up for 3 years.

Can’t beat Brats and Beer

Metlife i always have liked but it definitly gets a bad name - they werent building them like So-Fi back then.
Brats and beer YUM - still i have no desire to go there - the place was built in 1600's lol
Living in Southern California, Sofi is a great place for sporting events.
John Facenda in a voice comparable to Charlton Heston, always spoke about the FROZEN TUNDRA OF LAMBEAU, never the frozen tundra of MetLife, lol
I second that thing about draft grades. Those suckers should only come after a few years!
