tx for the Vibes weekend thread, David - always great to come in with a timely post that shows up after hours, so to speak...
I did this last night on the Becton thread from yesterday, but it's better posted here (since i first saw it at 2AM EST). An excellent JetsXFactor analysis of Becton:
Anyone who thought that Becton was going to come back more like his rookie self is drinking a LOT of kool-aid. After two serious injuries, one radical weight loss program and the accompanying "I'm an elite tackle !" idiocy, he has not looked good at all. He is so vulnerable to the speed rush it's ridiculous. They aren't going to pick up his fifth-year option and I doubt he will get any traction in free agency. Plan a future without him.
Can't explain why I am so disappointed with this season's production/record.
After all - the defense is superb; the Special Teams (with 1 or 2 exceptions) are superb! What was I expecting from the offense led be ZW?
If I had been told AR would go down as he did I would not have thought we would have the record we do. Any honest fan knows it is in spite of ZW - but that's just the way it is this season.
I guess what underlies my depression is that I Know ZW is not going to be our QB of the future. I know AR is not going to be our QB of the future. I just don't know who will. None of us do.
The Jets have not hit the bullseye when it comes to QB's....almost ever. I think that's what unsettles me.
That's a really good point. Although we have a guy we believe in in AR and a guy the coach believes in in ZW...we still have absolutely no idea who our long-term answer is at QB. He's almost certainly not on the roster and the time is ticking to find him. Otherwise we're just stuck in QB purgatory again.
David, does RS really believe in Sach or is he simply spouting the company line? He can’t possibly be that delusional. Has anyone heard from Bobber lately?
I think he really does buy into this player coach mantra and as such he really does believe in Zach. I think part of it is based on him being part of the decision process to draft him. One of the hardest things to do as a human is admit your mistakes.
According to Ian Rappoport, the Jets are going young today. Ruckert, Gipson, Brownlee and Charles all expected to be involved. Which should mean less Uzomah, Lazard and Cobb.
guys, there's a flutter of b/s butterfly wings around there, saying that Saleh's looking at Robbie Anderson.
Nay Nay - kid's acid in the locker room. And besides, as someone posted here on TJW - what's the use of bringing in a speedster to take the top off a defense, if his route takes 3.5 - 5 seconds or more, and our OLine can only protect Zach for 2.5 seconds?
We need an accomplished Slot receiver like Mecole Hardman.
Hunter Renfrow would have been nice there as well. Apparently he was available but the Jets declines, no idea the price, but do think he'd have helped Zach with his ability to get open quickly,
Robbie Anderson Chosen and Sideshow Bob were separated at birth, lol. Sounds like nonsense to me. As you said, he's arrogant and toxic. And if the o-line can't hold up for an 18 yard skinny post for Garrett Wilson, how do they expect to hold up for Sideshow Robbie to go long, lol. But then again it's the Jets so you never know. I can just see the opposing safeties now saying "Stop running Robbie, the play's over already !!!"
Just proves the organization i gridlocked with the "albatross" Rogers. How can you lte the offesine coordinator call plays this week after that deicison when the guy is hurt ?
There was definitely a breakdown in comms. Saleh said it wasn't communicated all the way down...what happens if he does some serious damage on that throw and is out for weeks/months. That's basically malpractice by the coordinator, doctors, coaches etc
this morning, as I'm waking up in semi-la la land of almost awake, I had this image/thought/irrational fear that made me cringe and set my heart thumping.
the thought - that sooner or later Josh Allen is going to crush this spell our Defense has over him, and throw something like 4 TDs. Still makes me cringe at having to write this.
No, am not jinxing the game. I am confronting my fears - our guys will find a way to win this game.
with one of my favorite players on the Jets (Surratt - nod to Bobber!!!) out, there may be a chance we get to see the LB we picked up fm SF - Marcelino McCrary-Ball.
From GGN scouting report:
> "... McCrary-Ball is undersized for a linebacker and has average strength but his speed and explosiveness are excellent for the position. He ran a 4.51 at his pro day in the 40-yard dash and had a 35.5-inch vertical jump ..."
Special Times debut, I think - him & Charles will make for a speedy pair to cover punts.
hey David, Steve & TJW!!

Welcome to purgatory David, just remember to get your voucher to cover the car park, lol.

Exactly and again - why wasn't it or is it a cover ?
Who knows. But I can't imagine we'll see that play this week
At least we have the Rangers tonight. Seems like a lifetime since we last played. Saw that Jack Hughes was a game-time decision for the Devils.
I am really looking forward to the game. That was bad the break - and now play 5 in 8 nights. Of course he will be back its us :)
Yeah it's midnight for me, so will see how far I get into it. Will then watch on delay when I get up in the morning...no doubt at 6am with the baby.
Boyle Int, 4Q -

Shot a the good stuff in celebration!!!
Lazard drop 50sec 2qtr...

Rasul douglas int
Make it a double, straight
2nd quarter 10 minutes 22 seconds Zach just got sacked again. I've already started drinking ...heavily
I'm working Red Zone tonight....I don't think I'll be seeing much of the Jets offence.

But I do not like waking up like that, for sure

You always think a good QB will come good at some point, think that's fair and rational.
I back our defence, but I do worry about the offensive coordinator shift. Teams tend to get a shot in the arm after a change.

BTW, when is Justin Hardee coming back?
