If the newsletter is late tomorrow, it's because England lost tonight and I'm crying into my cornflakes.

The Knicks are an inspirational story but all the professional NYC teams are needy. Hard to predict if any will be inspired enough to catch fire and if it is a football team, is it the Jets or Giants. The latter has a much more proven coach and has a young viable QB. The Jet's floor has risen but there is a difficult journey to become playoff quality.

Jeff, your 100% correct

Unfortunately, we are entering the NFL’s dog days of August.

Very little to report on, relevant NFL story lines are few and far in between.

Then again there is an old saying “No news is good news”

It’s been written here a few times the last month or so and it appears it is going to be an ongoing subject.

No, it’s not about Vrabel and Russini and it’s also not Sorsby but it’s seems the Jet’s kicking situation is far from settled.

This from Zack Rosenblatt of the Athletic from yesterday’s practice.

Some field goal stats:

Jason Sanders good from 42 and 50, missed from 50.

Cade York missed two 50+ (one doinked off the upright) and made one from 50.

Since Mougey has shown he doesn’t sit around all day twiddling his thumbs, it’s possible he is waiting for training camp cutdown day.

There were a few NFL signings this week of UFL players.

UFL Special teams player of the year, placekicker Tanner Brown is still out there.

Brown had a historic season for the Louisville Kings, leading the UFL in both scoring and field goals made. He was named the 2026 Special Teams Player of the Year after connecting on 25 of 28 (89.3%) field goal attempts during the regular season.

Field Goal Breakdown:

* 1-19 yards: 1-of-1

* 20-29 yards: 4-of-4

* 30-39 yards: 6-of-7

* 40-49 yards: 7-of-7

* 50+ yards: 7-of-9

Longest Field Goal: Hit a season-long 60-yard field goal in Week 8 against the DC Defenders. In the playoffs, he also connected on a 63-yard kick.

At this point, maybe the Jets should kick the tires on him.

Speaking of kicking, England will be playing in MetLife stadium June 27th against soccer powerhouse Panama. I’m sure David will be glued to the tellie for that one.

I do like Sanders. When he was healthy, he was as good as there is.

Same. I'm hopeful he can lock it down, would save us all a bit of a headache

Maybe we should sign Brown and let York go.

I wonder about that as well, Ron. The only thing that would concern me about Brown, is wouldn't his leg get tired or give out on him by the end of the NFL season after kicking for basically the whole year?

Craig, excellent point about Brown? He leg would need to be in great shape. Of course who knows where we will ne come November 😂

Who knows what Professor Mougey is cooking in his lab.

I think you're spot on Bobber. I think he's waiting for cutdown day.
