Good morning ☕
I’m currently up in Richmond in Yorkshire (pictured) enjoying a little time with the family. I live in the East, grew up in the West and always love coming to the North. But that doesn’t mean we’ll be taking any time off here at TJW. We have a key week ahead of us with the Jets hosting both wide receiver Mike Williams and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney is coming off a 9.5 sack season and would certainly be a dependable run defender on the edge. But my priority after watching that putrid offence is to ensure we sign Mike Williams.
I posted these in the chat yesterday, but here are some compensation details for some of the signings the Jets made.
Punter Thomas Morstead: 2 yrs/$5.1M. Gtd: $2.2M. '24 cap: $2.1M.
Defensive Tackle Leki Fotu: 1 yr/$2.5M. Gtd: $2.2M. '24 cap: $2.4M
LG John Simpson: 2 yr/$12M ($6M gtd). Cap charge this year: $3.2M
Javon Kinlaw is counting $2. 85 million against the cap this year and then will carry a $4.4 million dead cap charge next year thanks to void years being added. The Jets will pay him $1.1 million between 2025-2028 but that entire $4,4 million cap hit will be on the books next year.
Want to know how good Tyron Smith is? This good…

Actually, this one might do it…
Over the past 48 hours, the Zach Wilson debate has been raging. Just when we thought we were through with it, we get dragged back in.
On March 16, 2024, Fields was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. A conditional 6th, that’s all.
Justin Fields hasn’t been great, but he’s improved every single year and he’s coming off a 16 TD to 9 INT season where he completed over 61% of his passes for over 2,500 yards. He also happened to have over 600 yards rushing and 4 more touchdowns on the ground, a year after he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns.
All of that will net you a conditional 6th in the current market, and considering the condition is playing time, as long as Russel Wilson stays healthy, it’ll stay a 6th.
The Steelers were largely seen as the last real trade destination for Zach Wilson, so what happens now?
