GMs met with the media yesterday and we’re going to focus on two in particular. Joe Douglas, of course. But also, Brian Gutekunst of Green Bay, who had a few interesting comments.

We’re then going to dive into the competition committee meetings and what is likely to be proposed to the owners at next month’s annual meeting. That includes some new rules to get more action into the game.

Finally, I’m going to outline the developmental QB I’d like the Jets to draft this year, and why I think he’s a good option down the line.

🔥 Joe Douglas met with the media yesterday and I’m going to share some of the notable quotes:

🚘 On what he likes about Derek Carr:

“He’s a high-level producer, but really a phenomenal person. Just spending time with him, was very authentic, ultra-intelligent, just very comfortable in his own skin, and highly competitive. On the tape, you see the talent, the release, the velocity, the way he gets the ball out, the decision-making, the accuracy, so a lot of things to like”

🚗 On Derek Carr and the veteran QB market:

“That was a fantastic visit, we really enjoyed spending time with him…he left a strong impression on everybody. Obviously, we’re going to be exploring the veteran Quarterback market this off-season and we’re going to look at every available option and we feel like when it’s time to make the right decision in the process, we’re going to make the right decision for the Jets”

⏰ This was an interesting quote when asked if there was a risk he could miss out on a QB (Carr) by waiting for someone else (Rodgers) and his quote to be seemed to suggest it was the Carr side and not the Jets side:

“Obviously, this is the first time he’s been a free agent in his pro career. Knowing how smart a person he is, I know he’s going to be thorough with his process to make sure he and his family end up in the right destination for them. We’re going to respect his process, again we’ll be ready to make a decision when the time comes”
