☀️ Good morning 🍶
It’s time to get excited, the 2024 season is just days away from being over…at least for the Jets. As we all settle down to watch the playoffs, the Jets will be undergoing a lot of change. If Woody has any sense at all, he’ll clear out the building of all coaches and front office personnel and start fresh.
Once that happens I don’t want to spend a great deal of time talking about 2024. It started with a load of expectations and the players and coaching staff didn’t deliver. We made a lot of bad decisions leading to this point, and we’re going to look at the decisions we made this year and how it worked out.
I’m thankful this morning as a Texas Longhorns fan that our championship hopes are still alive following a nervy 39-31 double OT win last night. If you don’t watch college football, go take a look at Arizona State’s Cameron Skattebo, he’s something special.
🟢 Aaron Rodgers was asked whether he’s thought about Sunday potentially being his last game in the NFL he responded "Yeah, of course”, while calling his time with the Jets “It’s been the best two years of my life”, which is strange considering he missed a year through injury and then we’ve seen total failure this season.
⚫ When it was pointed out that he didn’t sound overly optimistic about returning, he simply said: "I'm just more resigned to the reality of the situation," Rodgers said. "I think there's going to be change here, and if I'm a part of the change, then I just want to make sure everybody knows I have nothing but gratitude for my time here."
🟢 Garrett Wilson was asked about the constant reports that he’s at odds with Rodgers: Yeah, I've seen some of that," Wilson said. "Yeah, I mean, there's no truth to that. At the end of the day, I don't speak on things like that because social media is not real. This is my first time addressing it," he continued. "That stuff is just words for people trying to figure out a way to divide us more than they've already tried, like the record isn't enough. Obviously, we've got a lot going on here, especially this season, trying to dig ourselves out of this hole. Unfortunately, we weren't able to. But my feet are where my feet are at, and I'm going to try and finish this thing the right way."
⚫ Mike McDaniel said he’s approaching the week as if Snoop Huntley will start Sunday against the Jets, so we won’t be facing Tua by the sounds of it.
🟢 Here is the injury report for Sunday to start the week. Ulbrich seemed pretty hopeful that most of the players would be able to play. He also confirmed that Zuerlein is on IR due to back tightness and Clark is on IR due to a torn pec.
The 2024 season was a failure for a lot of reasons. Arguably you can trace this disaster all the way back to 2021.
But how much did the decisions in 2024 contribute to the current 4-12 record and both Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas losing their jobs?
When you look at all the transactions made, I think it’s easy to see why we’re in the position we’re in.
