Vrabel currently is one of the hottest coaching candidates out there, highly respected and a winning record with not exactly an all pro roster.

Wishful thinking, but can Saleh, JD and Woodhead put two and two together and remember Vrabel fired Keith Carter. Or are they just too stubborn or stupid.

A few Jet fans on different social media platforms were saying this past week that if the Cowboys imploded on Sunday and McCarthy got fired, the Jets should pursue him. To the uninformed, Rodgers was the catalyst who helped get McCarthy fired because of his refusal to upgrade the playbook.

I guess Saleh’s best friend did a good job with the playbook out in Green Bay.

Food for thought, A contribution from Laura, Old Time Jet guys on Facebook.

Lazard this past season, $12 million salary, all the Green Bay receivers who played yesterday, $7 1/2 million combined.

Playing devils advocate, as great and consistent Morestead and Zuerlein were this past season, any concerns of a drop off next year due to age, just asking for opinions from David and his well informed readers.

Isn’t the NFL, the most hypocritical organization around.

The decision to move the Buffalo- Pittsburgh game was 100% the right call.

But when the NFL says that the call was in part made with the fan’s health and safety issues in mind totally reeks of the utmost hypocrisy. ( The governor of New York had a lot to do about it by shutting down the highways.)

If the NFL was so concerned about the health and safety of fans, players, coaches, officials etc., it would not have played Saturday night in Kansas City.

Temperature in the minuses and wind chills close to minus 30 isn’t exactly putting people in a safe and healthy situation.

Many people who attended the “Ice Bowl” in Green Bay whether as a fan, player, game official suffered from the after effects from frost bite the rest of their lives.

I think you always have to be wary of decline when players hit a certain age, but decline hits people at different points, different ages etc. Kickers and Punters tend to age a little better than other positions and I think it's more dangerous to move on too quickly, especially when you've seen no signs of decline. The good thing about special teamers when they hit a certain age is they tend to accept one year deals which means you don't have to worry about over committing. As soon as they show signs of decline you can move on. The real question this off-season is whether the Jets sign Hardee or let him walk.

Funny you mentioned the Packer WR group! It’s young and super talented. They go 6 deep all 23 and under and they can all play. Most fans are familiar with Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson but rookies Dontavion Wicks, Jaden Reed and Grant Dobose plus 2nd year lesser known guys like Bo Melton and Samaria Toure can fly! This group is stacked!

hey David!!!

always nice to start the week out on a good note, and starting with our ST guys who are simply Awesome is even better Boyer is Mike Westhoff V2.0 - he has two gunners in Hardee and Charles, reliable coverage and the potential to block punts as they did this year (and which I'm always clamoring for more attempts as I watched the games this year...). Gipson is a find; Davis finally put the nail in the "why'd you keep Davis over Pinnock???" coffin. Kudos to him, I now want the Jets to give him due consideration for more time in the SS/Box Safety slot... goodbye Whitehead?

This week's games.... man, but that CJ Stroud kid... he is special! Setting aside the quiet despair that is the Jets Fan's lot in seeing/wishing what coulda-been with Zach when compare the two, as a true Football fan it is just a marvel and joy to see how he plays and the plays he makes. And Jordan Love, what a great game, and those Packers, that team is dangerous! And what a shootout in Detroit! At times it seemed like Stafford was just not going to miss a throw! But Detroit's defense, as they progress through the playoffs --- gonna be their Achilles Heel. I think the 49ers will rack up serious points against them, and has the horses to better contain Goff, St.Brown and company.

Onward today to watching the Bills v Steelers. I'd like to see the Bills get through, I've been to games at the old Rich Stadium and those Bills fans treated me so well, as fellow football-First fans, that it's easy to root for them in the post-season.

anyways, enuf-a-dat, time to read what Bobber has to say... start my week off right!

What's interesting about these playoff teams is you have a couple of different ways that drafting quarterbacks can turn out. Jordan Love was drafted in the first round and allowed to sit for multiple years. He has wound up being a pretty successful demonstration of that method of developing a quarterback. Stroud, on the other hand, is the current vogue: draft a guy really high and insert him as soon as possible. What's more; it worked. He has been great.

The flip side of the coin is what happened to the quarterback situation in Pittsburgh. They wound up in a quarterback no-man's land since Big Ben stayed one year too long, resulting in them convincing themselves that they needed to reach for a quarterback in a crappy draft class for quarterbacks. Kenny Pickett was so underwhelming that once he got hurt and another couple of quarterbacks got their shot, one of them was able to hang on to the job long enough for them to make the playoffs. They were going to be in contention for the playoffs regardless of the quarterback situation since they have such a strong infrastructure, but it is interesting to see how awfully they've bungled the development of their quarterbacks.

All of that is food for thought for the current Jets front office. I'm sure they're considering all of their options this coming offseason. They'll need to start planning the post-Rodgers quarterback situation ASAP.

Some great games this weekend. Curious to see if the Jets re-sign Justin Hardy, with the emergence of Charles and Ashtyn Davis. Of course we have to re-sign Davis, but this was a third round pick who deserved to be cut every year for the last 3 years, but his contributions on Special Teams kept him around, he learned his craft as a Safety and May get a second contract, never thought that would happen. Would like to see Charles contribute to the Offense as the sixth WR, could he evolve ? Great size and speed. Brant Boyer lobbies for his guys and May have too much influence on roster decisions and drafting, but the guy is a pretty good ST coach, seems to bring out the best in his kickers

Here is an interesting idea. Bring in a special teams coach like Brant Boyer as the head coach. He won't be so arrogant as to think that he understands the offense or defense more than his coordinators and he'd properly value special teams and understand the whole "complementary football" concept. I've always thought this would be the ultimate head coach hire.

Great idea! 👍 I love it. He’s arguably our best coach. And the special teams coach usually knows the roster better than anyone. He has to.

I agree. I had always hoped that the jets would give Mike Westhoff a shot as head coach. I think he would have been perfect being that bridge between offense and defense and letting those coaches do what they do best. And he had a no-nonsense way about him without being a real hard taskmaster. All of his ST players loved him, no matter which team he was coaching for.

Agreed! I kind of adopted the Lions when they hired Dan Campbell. He was the coach I really wanted. He played of the Giants. He’s NY tough! 😡

I do not believe on word that OBJ says that Jets said "arrogant". Thats complete and unverified quote. The Bills game being postponed was due to protext the fans against them selves. Those Mafia nuts would have gone to the game and drunk. Then when the snow melted they would find 100's of them buried in it. In KC a lot of fans had the common sense to stay home as the upper deck was not filled. Still its killing me when i hear Harbough interviewing for the Chargers job while we have to sit tight. All the playoff games have stunk havent watched more then 5 -10 min of any of them. The Lions - ok that turned out a great ending cause of the drought. These games are just not worth watching - Go Rangers !

Steve, we usually agree but I think you missed some really good and fun football. We all have our favorite teams and many fans ( myself included) have our least favorite teams. The Dolphins are my “ public enemy #1 on my list. Closely followed by the 😡”NOT AMERICA’s TEAM Cowboys!😂 I have resented that America’s team nonsense! They might be Dallas’s team but they are certainly not mine.😂

I guess when the Jets season ends im just not into football anymore. Hockey season full blast for me. I dont mind the Dolphins as much as the Bills - i am sick of them. Same with Dallas - i know everyone hates them but i could care less what happens to them. I think the team i hate the most has to be The Eagles. All the games were over within 5 min of the second quarter - same thng going to happen today.

I mostly go into hockey mode too. But I have taken an interest in the playoffs this year as I've loved the transformation of the Lions from winning 3 games in the first year of Goff/Campbell to winning their first playoffs game in a lifetime. That's an awesome story and I just love Dan Campbell's personality and aggressive nature in his decision making. Also really like Houston under Ryan's and what Stroud is doing is phenomenal. Wanted the Dolphins out of course, want the Bills out tonight and would love to see the Packers fall. Always liked Green Bay, but the experience with their fans last year really put me off them.

well said - guess im jealous of the Lions start their rebuild when we did (ugh). There was a 89 year old 66 year Lions season ticket holder they showed in the stands- good for him & thier fans.

That was the best thing about that game for me. It must have been an amazing feeling for him. The 1957 Lions had a pretty good team. Bobby Layne, Hopalong Cassady, Leon Hart, Joe Schmidt and company had a great year.

I know - and yes great team that was !

I watched both games yesterday and Dallas-Green Bay was kind of a shocker, as the Cowgirls have been just awful in postseason and yesterday was no exception. I honestly think they though they had it in the bag and were really not prepared properly, which Mike McCarthy kind of hinted at. But the Packers were a revelation, they were pretty much perfect. Detroit almost screwed the pooch at the end but held on by the skin of their teeth. Even banged up, Matthew Stafford looked pretty good. He does have some zip on the ball. It was another awful and spotty for the zebras, lol. I want to know who trains these guys, lol.
