Can tell I'm rusty as I scheduled this for the wrong day, which is why it's 23 minutes late lol

Best news of the day is not only are we happy our globe trotting leader is back but it would appear that he and his family had an uneventful holiday which is a plus.

The one thing I do question is that David is blaming gelato for his slight increase in girth. We all know that the real culprit of the increase tonnage is a result of consuming that atrocious chip ( French fry) covered pizza. Mama Mia what a sacrilege, lol.

Charles evidently was happy to be traded.

In an Instagram post after the trade was official, Charles simply posted "outta there" with little bombast or fanfare. Charles' first instinct, being seemingly thrilled to leave the Jets, may make sense when you consider he is joining a championship contender, but some fans might be perturbed by how curt he was here.

Also which can be noted about this trade is that it is for a 2028 conditional pick.

The 2027 draft must be really loaded. There have been a few trades since the draft. It would appear they are all for 2028 not 2027 picks.

NFL Eyeing Japan As Next International I’m on in Market

May 23rd, 2026 at 6:51pm CST • By Adam La Rose

Earlier this week, NFL owners voted to expand the slate of international contests in 2027. As many as 11 games will be played outside of the United States next season as a result.

The league has made continued expansion into new markets a long-running priority, and that remains the case presently. Exploration of other countries which could serve as the host for regular-season games could soon lead to the list of markets growing once again. Hints on that front emerged during the recent owners’ meeting.

When asked by Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breerabout where the league could turn next, NFL executive vice president Peter O’Reilly specifically mentioned Japan. It will be interesting to see if efforts pick up in the near future to set up a game there over the coming years. One team (the Rams) currently holds marketing rights in Japan.

In 1936, Japan’s football federation was created. The organization is therefore one of the oldest outside of the United States and Canada. Japan also won each of the first two editions of the IFAF World Championship for tackle football before hosting the event in 2007.

It would thus comes as little surprise if Japan were to become a regular host country for NFL action relatively soon. The matter of travel distance is among the logistical issues which will be raised, although 2026 will see the Rams and 49ers play each other in Melbourne, Australia. The league already intends to return there before seeing how this fall’s debut contest plays out, so games staged well beyond Mexico, Brazil and Europe could increase in regularity down the road.

Breer writes Italy should also be considered a strong candidate to host NFL games soon. Further expansion throughout Europe can certainly be anticipated, but attempting to break through in Asian markets could begin with a presence in Japan.

I did order a more traditional spicy salami pizza on the second trip to the famous pizzeria...although my rusty Italian meant I ordered a metre long pizza instead of a 1/2 metre...we were very full after that. Although... not full enough to bypass the gelato shop on the way back.

Since you have atoned for your sins of consuming a Chip covered pizza, by eating a traditional one , the Grand Poo Pah of pizza, Chef Boy-R-Dee has forgiven you and you are in good graces.

What is your gelato of choice, mine is traditional hazel nut or Stracciatella

David Wyatt-Hupton's avatar

Well the good news is that I sampled maybe 20 different ones this week.

I was a big fan of the Stracciatella, also liked the lemon and Pistachio ones.

Peanut Butter was maybe my favourite one

Sounds like hit the treadmill time, lol again, welcome back

Haha I was out for a run this morning, time to get back to the normal grind!

Nice to see some OTA news filtering through as well.

What’s the condition on the 7th rounder?

David Wyatt-Hupton's avatar

Whether he makes the Seahawks 53-man-roster out of camp.

If he makes it, we get their 7th.

If he doesn't, then they keep their 7th.

Hopefully Mougey put in some stipulations to prevent them from cutting him (meaning he doesn't make the original 53) and then picking him up a few days later.

IMO they were lucky to get anything for him. He's coming off an ACL, hasn't played in over a year, offers nothing on offense, is 29, and teams know that the Jets had Stiggers and A. Smith who played very well last year as gunners, and I think they have a couple of others on the roster who can play the gunner position. IMO it would have been a shock if he made the Jets.

I'm glad you and the family had a great time on Sardinia, soaking up the sun and the atmosphere. It came at a very opportune time, with the NFL dead zone period. My Mom's side of the family is from Italy. My grandfather Antonio came Castellammare de Stabia near Sorrento, and my Grandmother Euphemia was born in Vatican City and was technically not an Italian citizen. My grandfather and one of his brothers came to the US and the other two brothers emigrated to Argentina, where the family is till around today in Buenos Aires.

The news about Japan is interesting. I know there is a lot of interest in American football. A game there would be pretty popular, I would think. I'm actually setting up the groundwork for a trip to Japan next year to see some of my favorite Japanese groups and artists in rock, metal and jazz/funk. I'll be in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and a quick trip up to Sapporo. I worked in the food industry for a long time, and through attending the NYC Food & Beverage shows over the last 15 years, I made some decent contacts with the Japan-American Friendship Society, and they've agreed to set me up with a good translator/guide during my trip. I've been to several tea ceremonies at the Japanese Consulate in NYC over the years and a very exquisite geisha demonstration.

My son is coming to keep me out of trouble, and he's already put in for the time He's a big fan of Japanese music also, and we're also going to the Muscle Girl's Bar in Tokyo, lol. I've seen about a dozen videos by Westerners who have gone there, and it should be a blast.

Glad to have you back so we can get into some serious Jets conversations. And this thing with Irvin Charles is a great, big, fat nothingburger. The Moug did him a favor by trading him, instead of just cutting him, so his terse comment was unjustified. He's a 29-year-old receiver/ST guy coming off a bad knee injury and his prospects would have been slim. But like he said, he's "OUTTA HERE", end of story.

I got so used last week to not having The Jets Way, that I totally forgot about it today. I just saw it in my inbox.

Glad that you're back home safe and sound and had a great time.

I'm not too surprised about Charles getting traded. Both Smith and Stiggers proved to be very good gunners on STs, and they still have potential to offer something on their respective units, whereas Charles offers nothing as a WR. I think both are faster than Charles as well. I wish him well.

I like Garrett's comments regarding Reich.

So far at OTAs, AD Mitchell and Jelani Woods have looked good as has Klubnick. Woods could wind up being a factor at TE. He's 6'7" where as both Taylor and Ruckert are 6'5", and Sadiq is only 6'3". He is also more of a power player, so he could be "big" (pun intended) on 3rd downs and in the Red Zone.
