Good morning!
I still can’t believe we lost that game. I know that the NFL comes down to wins and losses, and moral victories are reserved for Pee Wee football. But I feel significantly better about the Jets this week, I just wish that Kansas performance occurred a week earlier, if it had we’d be at 2-2.
This week we need to show it wasn’t a one-off. We need to go into Denver and show Sean Payton there are consequences for breaking the coach code, Miami dropping 70 on them was a start, and conceding 53 points to Washington and Chicago was a good follow, now we need to hammer home the point.
The Jets announced that they have released OL Cedric Ogbuehi, OL Chris Glaser and DB Nehemiah Shelton from the practice squad.
They also announced that they have signed DB Craig James, DB Tae Hayes and DB Kalon Barnes to the practice squad. Interesting to sign 3 defensive backs.
Joe Tippmann now has the highest PFF grade of any rookie offensive lineman in football this year, with a minimum of 100 snaps.
Aaron Rodgers has said that he’s s “well ahead of the normal protocols.” in terms of his return from injury. “There’s nothing normal about how I’m attacking this rehab,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “The common practice is about six weeks in a boot, and I was in a shoe in 13 days” he said while reiterating his aim to be back this year, as long as the Jes make the playoffs. “This is just my mindset. I believe in the power of intention. I believe in prayer. I believe in your mental status and the power of will. I believe in making room for the miraculous to happen.”
The Jets have yet to run an offensive play with the lead this year, which considering we’re into week 5, is atrocious. The only other team who also hasn’t run an offensive play with the lead? The New York Giants. tough.
Former Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims is signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad.
One unexpected and welcome surprise over the last two weeks is the performance of the offensive line.
The unit, which experienced a shuffle following Duane Brown’s placement on IR, has improved significantly.
Week 1: Brown (LT), Tomlinson (LG), McGovern (C), AVT (RG), Becton (RT)
Week 4: Becton (LT), Tomlinson (LG), McGovern (C), Tippmann (RG), AVT (RT)
Even when Brown is ready to return, he should return to the bench, despite his inflated salary. Considering his age and performance to start the year, that really shouldn’t be a difficult decision to make.
The blocking effort isn’t restricted to the offensive line. On the back shoulder throw to Ruckert, Tyler Conklin does a great job as an in-line blocker. Allen Lazard made numerous blocks on the outside, and surprise surprise…Jeremy Ruckert was in amongst it.
Let’s roll the tape.
