There are...I accidentally was chatting to the agent of Buffalo Connor McGovern believing I was speaking to the agent of the Jets Connor McGovern over the summer, very embarrasing when i realised
One (the Jets version) is about 5 years older and went to Mizzou. The younger version is from Penn State. What's interesting is they have slightly similar profiles. They're both uber athletic for linemen and somewhat inconsistent.
As much as the Jets we’re constantly making line changes during the early part of the season last year. The Denver victory was actually their Waterloo, their Gettysburg.
Breece Hall and AVT both suffering season ending injuries there.
Hall was definitely his security blanket, his go to guy. Zach proved that he couldn’t handle the pressure without him.
White showed some life until he got injured up in Buffalo. You have to wonder if White’s performance against Minnesota but some doubts in the minds of the Jets brain trust. Though the Jets accumulated almost 500 yards against the Northmen, they could only score 1 touchdown against a very mediocre defense.
Again as far as this season is concerned in relation to the offensive line, it’s all about injuries, repeat, injuries. If the Jets can avoid the catastrophic season they suffered last season to the offensive line, Breece Hall back 100%, Dalvin Cook showing he still has it and of course the addition of a wiley, veteran, quarterback who can really read defenses plus has a quick release and has pinpoint accuracy doesn’t hurt. His name slips my mind. The Jets should be playing playoff football this year.
Peter King in his Monday morning column today. Has the Jets winning the division but losing to Chiefs in AFC semifinal.
He always picks 3 must watch games.
Yes, Jets -Bills on his watch list. Interesting fact that he points out about game at the end of his summation
Buffalo at N.Y. Jets, Monday, 8:15 p.m., ESPN. Get ready for all-Rodgers-all-the-time this weekend, and particularly Monday, on the Worldwide Leader. One of the reasons this was made the first Monday night game on the 2023 schedule was because the NFL felt the nonstop promotion of Rodgers’ first game outside of Green Bay would lead to a very big ratings number. One game factoid: Last year, when the Bills and Jets split the season series,
Buffalo scored just 37 points in eight quarters.
So entering the game, it’s Rodgers in the headlines. Exiting, it might be the Jets’ D.
One more from King,
5. I think these transactions caught my eye in the NFL’s cutdown week:
a. The Jets keeping two undrafted rookie wide receivers for Aaron Rodgers targets. In fairness, cat-quick Xavier Gipson (5-9 out of Stephen F. Austin) may be more of a returner than receiver. But 6-2 Jason Brownlee from Southern Miss was a camp star and could be a factor, particularly if vets like Randall Cobb and Mecole Hardman get hurt.
That’s it, time to get a godd... snack. I think when David is in Spain, I will indulge in some Tapas.
hey Bobber, JO, Michael R and rest of JetsWayBruddah crew!
Guys, we've got some speed at the LB position, too. Quincy, Chazz run in the low 4.5's. Quincy is a rocket; i've posted here before that Brich should consider running "unexpected" blitzes, especially earlier in the game when our lethal 4 man pass-rush is going up against OLines that aren't yet tired/worn out from repeated thrashings. Gives opposing OC's something else to lose sleep over. Using any combination of Quincy, Chazz, Marcelus pick up fm SF (also in the 4.5's, and likely a starter save for having to break into the what is almost certainly the best LB group in the 2023 NFL) would be great for this. everyone elses' OL will have their hands full trying to keep our front four from getting their QB, and especially with McDonald and maybe Huff or Jermaine running from a wide-nine (or Jermaine from a two-point), our front four is going to shred the OL pocket integrity. Shoot Quincy, Chazz or Marcelus through that fissure and let's all watch opposing QB's to see who has the biggest Deer-in-Headlights look in their eyes when that happens.
Chazz, I and I think Marcelus, also have good coverage ability, and Quincy is improving in that aspect as well. We're going up against some seriously good TE's this season - I hope that Saleh and Brich are running alot of "12" and "22" packages in practice so our LB's can get good at providing coverage.
You know, with a standard 4-3-4 defense, our secondary is super good enough to hold down the receivers for 3-5 seconds, enough time for the DL to disrupt/sack their QB. The question imho then becomes what to do about the quick slants that teams ran against us last year? Well, with two speedy linebackers in any given passing situation (repl Sherwood with either Surratt or Marcelus), you can have their TE's bothered up, maybe with box safety help/over and under coverage. Or - my personal favorite idea! - send ONE speedy LB on the unexpected blitz to really wreak havoc against the other team (and still have the other speedy LB covering their TE or whomever is running the slant).
I am the 11th man. Or the incarnation of Cassandra of Troy, take your pick. But either way, I'm sure as shit gonna be enjoying the F out of this season!
Allen is an issue, but the Jets will get Better Linebacking play from Quincy Williams, who has developed in this Defensive system. A bigger factor in controlling Allen could be the play of the Three Safeties, led by Adams, Whitehead, and number zero , Amos. Jet Safety play was bad last year , expect a dramatic improvement, with nasty tackling. Love the matchup of Torrence & Brown against our Defensive Line.
Good post JO! Preventing Allen from scrambling and creating extra yardage on busted plays will be essential for this defense. I think they are up to the task
Cobb's crackback block was a thing of beauty, but the results of it showed why it has been banned by the NFL. The player Cobb blocked got a concussion. While I appreciate the beauty of a crackback block and they are devastating to the defender, unfortunately, they lead to injuries and concussions, and there are already too many problems with CTE with former players, so the NFL did the right thing.
Good for Vinny. I think he's right.
I had either forgotten or didn't know that Pinnock had grown up a Jets fan. That made it all the worse that the Jets cut him. According to the quote, he wasn't a good scheme fit for the Jets and is for the Giants, so it worked out for him. I'm happy for him, I just hate that it didn't work out for him with the Jets.
It is odd that no one has signed Senat. How about Pita Taumoepenu and Bruce Hector? Have you heard anything about either of them signing somewhere? If not, I don't understand why the Jets didn't sign them to the PS, but maybe the two are both holding out to be FAs and sign with someone's roster once they suffer some injuries.
Can you imagine going to the US Open (or any event for that matter) and having AR, Cobb, amd Uzomah sitting beside you? Pretty wild.
Douglas is right. It's time for Saleh and the Jets to produce and win.
Interesting idea to compare the Bills and Jets' OLs. I like looking at opponents. We don't know much, if anything about them compared to the Jets, and it can help give us a more realistic expectation for games. Thanks!
I agree that our DL should have success vs Buffalo's OL, especially S. Brown at RT. Are you going to look at the matchup between our OL and their DL? How about their secondary vs our receivers or their run D vs our rushing attack?
I really don't understand the first 3 still being available. All 3 looked really good in preseason action, even if it was against 2nd and maybe 3rd stringers. I thought Taumoepenu looked better than Jalyn Holmes.
David, will you please check with your sources and see what you can find out about those 3, why the Jets didn't sign them to the PS? I trust JD and Saleh, but I'm curious, and want to understand and learn what it is I saw that they didn't see and vice versa. Thanks.
Easily the most interesting of these matchups is McGovern versus Morse. These two guys are like carbon copies of one another. They're crazy athletic centers who played all over their college offensive lines. They, actually, were on the same college offensive line. Morse was a year ahead of McGovern at Mizzou. Morse was starting at right guard on the SEC championship game offensive line versus Alabama while Morse started at left tackle. The next season, Morse got drafted and McGovern filled his spot at left tackle. That goes to show you how athletic and versatile these two dudes are. It's also interesting that they Morse was a guy linked to the Jets the free agency before the McGovern signing. The connections are legion.
The rest of the line comparison should (big emphasis on should) favor the Jets. Dion Dawkins is, of course, overall a better tackle than Duane Brown. I think that a healthy Brown, however, is more likely to play a solid game of penalty free football than Dawkins. I'd take Tomlinson and AVT over McGovern and Torrance six days a week and twice on Sundays. Of course, the issue is health. Last season started off promising enough before the Jets had to wind up starting 4th and 5th string tackles. Let's hope they're a bit luckier this season.
WR TJ Luther signed with the Pats practice squad. Rest assured that Belicheat has him strapped to a chair and is grilling him on the Jets' offensive strategy.
There are two Connor McGoverns ?
There are...I accidentally was chatting to the agent of Buffalo Connor McGovern believing I was speaking to the agent of the Jets Connor McGovern over the summer, very embarrasing when i realised
"who knew" i always thought the Buffalo one was the Jets one
I actually discovered this few years back when he was with Dallas! I was trying to get info on our guy in his Denver days😂
I think the Bills version spells his first name with only 1 "n" doesn't he? I know there's one OL in the NFL that does, he may be on the Cowpokes.

Hi CG...let us all hope that the prophecy of a Super Bowl victory will be granted by the football gods.
And the Jets Defense is better this year
Definitely better but they must contain Allen better
In two games last year 133 yards rushing and 3 tds.
Who knows what his rushing stats would have been without that great sack by JJ
Was the game in Buffalo, that turned the tide over to Buffalo when Mosley got suckered on 4th and an inch or two and he doved offside

That sack by JJ was a “work of art”
Indulge in the wine with your Tapas
