Edition #957: It's time to look at the numbers, and for the first time since week one we have real positivity on the offensive side of the ball.

Good morning ☕

It’s amazing what one victory can do for a fanbase starved of success. I’m not ready to start planning the ticker-tape parade down the “Canyon of Heroes”, but this offers just a little bit of respite from the constant stream of negativity.

Seeing Aaron Glenn get his first win as head coach, seeing Justin Fields stick it to Woody Johnson, seeing some of the young players make mistakes and learn from them. We still have no idea if Aaron Glenn is the right man for the job, but the victory on Sunday offers a foundational block to build on.

After the bye week it’s Browns, Patriots, Ravens, Falcons, Dolphins, Jaguars, Saints. If there was ever a time for the team to build momentum, it’s now. I know we’re all a little bored of the Detroit Lions comparisons, the situations are different. But it’s relatable because of who the HC coach is and you know Aaron Glenn is drawing on that experience. It took Dan Campbell until week 13 to get his first win as a head coach. Well it was week 8 for Aaron Glenn.

NEWS & NOTES

  • “Listen, I have time to make that decision.” was Aaron Glenn’s response when he was asked whether Justin Fields would be his QB against the Cleveland Browns after the bye week.

  • Glenn was asked how the Jets would play the trade deadline: “When someone calls, you listen, but actions speak louder than words.”, that makes sense to me, you should always listen to offers because you never know when someone will do a Seattle and overpay for someone like Jamal Adams. But I imagine there are a few players who will be largely untouchable unless a team is willing to overpay.

  • Breece Hall made some history on Sunday becoming the first non-QB since 1950 to have 2 rushing TD’s and 1 passing TD in the 4th quarter.

  • Hall’s name will be one of the more interesting ones around the trade deadline, especially after his performance on Sunday. I’d still like us to keep Breece and re-sign him, I still think there is a ton of untapped potential in him that we’ll eventually get out. One player who I think will get traded is Michael Carter II, especially as Brownlee replaced him as the nickel corner on Sunday.

NUMBERS

Jets 39-38 Bengals (26 Oct, 2025) Final Score - ESPN (UK)

For once, I’m excited to start with the offensive numbers.

  • First things first, Isaiah Davis was graded out as the best offensive player for the Jets on Sunday with a score of 79.7. He was followed by Andrew Beck (78.7), Justin Fields (77.8), Mason Taylor (75.2) and Jeremy Ruckert (75.0).

  • On the other end of the scale we had Allen Lazard (49.9), Brandon Smith (55.8), John Simpson (58.8), Jelani Woods (60.0) and Arian Smith (60.1).

  • In terms of pass blocking, it was a clean day. The Jets allowed 0 sacks and only 3 pressures all afternoon. The pressures were tagged to Isaiah Davis (1), John Simpson (1) and Josh Myers (1). Fashanu, Tippmann and Membou combined for 0 sacks and 0 pressures allowed. Considering they’re the future of this line, that’s something to get excited about.

  • Run Blocking wise we had three different players above the 70 mark. Isaiah Williams had a grade of 87.0, Mason Taylor was at 78.3 and Armand Membou was at 70.6. Fashanu was at 58.6, Tippmann at 56.5, Myers at 56.1 and John Simpson at 53.8. Considering how much yardage on the ground the Jets had, I think those grades are overly negative.
