Good morning! ☕
Morgan Moses and Thomas Morestead are back, two players whom Joe Douglas once considered surplus to requirements, and Jordan Whitehead is taking his talents back to Tampa… I’m not sure many Jets fans are overly upset about that.
Jets trade for Morgan Moses & a 4th-round pick (134) for a 4th-round pick (#112) and a 6th-round pick (#218)
This is my favourite move the Jets have made so far this off-season. The Jets needed to seriously address their tackle position and they went out and got a guy they know they can rely on.
They had to drop 22 places in the 4th round and give up a late pick, but I think that’s a price worth paying when you consider the talent of Morgan Moses and the cap hit that he brings ($5.5 million).
It’s a low-risk trade when you look at what we had to give up considering he’s in the final year of his contract. It also provides a bridge for the Jets, giving players like Max Mitchell and Carter Warren a chance to develop and take over that RT spot in 2025.
Moses was a good addition by Joe Douglas before the 2021 season and many believe he should have been re-signed.
Moses is now 33 and coming off a fine year in Baltimore where he allowed 5 sacks and 24 pressures in 14 games, but his work in the run-game proved to be as good as ever. He’s a power run-blocker with plenty of veteran savvy and real leadership.
This signing does indicate that AVT will spend his time at RG, where Robert Saleh believes he has All-Pro potential. That’s a smart move for my money.
The Jets re-signed punter Thomas Morstead to a 2-year deal worth over $5M
