Good morning! ☕
When I first started writing TJW, I had one major concern. Only posting once a day meant that breaking news would be yesterday’s news as soon as it was released. Would anyone want to read about it? After all, there are a hundred websites out there that post articles within minutes of the news breaking.
Fortunately, that hasn’t really been a problem, so I took an extra 24 hours to talk about the Jets signing of former Bear and Packer Adrian Amos. We’re going to dive into that below.
👍 A little self-promotion here. I wrote an article for Jets X-Factor yesterday on whether the Jets had the tools to correct Zach’s most significant flaw, his ability to play with defenders in his face. I looked at Aaron Rodgers's history, along with Nathaniel Hackett and Todd Downing to get an idea of how they have performed historically. Head on over and check it out if you get time today.
🏆 Mike Kasuba over at Last Word on Sports took a look at the fantasy football implications of the Aaron Rodgers trade: “Draft Garrett Wilson in all leagues, as soon as possible. The Offensive Rookie of the Year finished as a top 24 wide receiver with Zach Wilson and Mike White throwing the ball. While Mike White is the coolest thing since sliced bread, he’s not Aaron Rodgers. Wilson is undervalued in all formats and could be a top-five dynasty wide receiver as early as October.”
🚨 According to Craig Carton, Aaron Rodgers had the chance to be a Patriot and he turned it down: "The New England Patriots made an offer to the Green Bay Packers to get Aaron Rodgers," Carton said Wednesday. "And when Aaron Rodgers heard it, his agent said no, we ain't playing for New England, we want to be a Jet."
👊 PFF released its list of the biggest camp battles and the Jets found their way onto the list with their offensive tackles. “They would love to be able to rely on Mekhi Becton to be their left tackle this season. However, the former 11th overall pick has struggled with injuries and has played only 739 snaps over his first three seasons. He missed the 2022 campaign entirely. The bottom line is they have to find some reliable combination at both left and right tackle out of those five. If not, the Rodgers addition might be for nought.”
