Unless things drastically change here with real good player acquisitions.

This is all I have to say

The three biggest mistakes of Joes Douglas Jets tenure as GM

1) trading Darnold, should have forced Saleh to bring in a winning veteran OC for Darnold when he was hired. If Saleh insisted on his best friends brother, then hire a different HC

2) Drafting Wilson, he turned down SF offer of 3-1s. Miami used two of those one’s to acquire Waddle and Hill

3) Trading for VP Rodgers…….. You can add what you want. This is slowly turning into a disaster. And people say Rex’s tenure was a circus

Totally agree about the Darnold trade. They, either, should've kept Darnold or brought in somebody mid-tier like Brissett or Bridgewater. Either way, Zach Wilson wasn't a particularly good pick considering the infrastructure they put in place to develop him. I'm not sold that Miike LaFleur is just "his best friend's brother." He was an up-and-coming passing game coordinator for one of the best offenses in the NFL. Where you are correct, however, is that they needed to bring in more veteran support staff to surround such a young coordinator. Benton was a good guy to have around but it would've been nice for him to have a senior offensive assistant/associate head coach-type to act as a support. When Greg Knapp passed, they failed in re-filling that crucial role. Honestly, the downfall of the entire operation starts there.

100% agree! 👍

For me, Number FOUR, is the total lack of accountability for the Senior staff of this Offense, in Hackett, Downing & Carter. It’s not only the fact that they put out the worst Offense in the NFL out on the field, it’s the total lack of any player development, that makes these guys so incompetent.

Totally agree. It's concerning to think that young offensive players who obviously need to be coached up, have to rely on this inept offensive staff to develop them.

When Douglas was hired, he checked all the boxes of becoming an up and coming GM. He was on paper the Anti- MacCagnan but suddenly he starting to look like a MacCagnan clone. Is it the water there or is Woody the secret puppet master, pulling the strings. Just the fact, they went into last season without a backup qb and were depending on a 39 year old tackle rehabbing from surgery to play left tackle out does any dumb thing MR Coffee ever did

Agree

Sorry, Bobber, but I have to disagree. Darnold absolutely should have been traded. I despised him and never wanted him in the 1st place. I do agree that Saleh shouldn't have been hired. When you have a young QB who isn't developing and are thinking about drafting another young QB, the last thing you do is hire a former Defensive Coach as your HC and allow him to bring in a rookie OC, rookie QB Coach and a bunch of other young and relatively inexperienced coaches.

As for turning down SF's offer, that goes against what I've read that SF never got to the point of making an offer that Saleh told them the Jets had no interest in trading, so I'd like to know where you got that.

I think JD's biggest mistakes were:

1) Hiring Saleh and doing everything wrong in drafting and developing a young QB - if he had hired someone experienced in working with QBs and who was an Coordinator, things could have been very different.

2) Hiring Hackett

3) Keeping Saleh and this CS this season

4) (Tie) Letting Huff walk in FA/Drafting McDonald last year

5) Trading up for AVT

6) Most of his FA decisions/signings

You can add in trading for Rodgers somwhere on that list.

Aaah…a myriad of inauspicious moments!

Hunter Renfro released , not ideal, but a pass catcher

Apparently the Chargers may be open to trading Mike Williams or Keenan Allen as well. Something to watch

Mike, if they sign Bakhtiari🤮 I’m f’n done! He can’t stay on the field and frankly his last few years weren’t very good when he did play!

Evidently after looking over Kinlaw’s contract, it is starting to raise questions why the Jets gave him what they did. It can’t be because he was scouted coming out of college by that excellent SF OC Robert Saleh not to be confused with less than mediocre NY Jet HC Robert Saleh

Kinlaw’s contract could reflect the Defensive Tackle Market that has exploded

Sorry DC

Frankly I'm not surprised about JD's inactivity. I think he's in way over his head this year. We'll see what we will see. If he doesn't make some kind of move, things are going to be pretty loud over at 1 JD. And I don't mean signing David Bakhtiari either.

Do Teams have to be CAP compliant at 4 pm today ?

Yes they do

Could make the day very interesting

Very disappointed, that Diontae Johnson WR went with the Panthers for a late round pick swap. Jets have two sixth round picks, gladly send one of them straight up for Johnson. Diontae is a one year rental for 10 million, which today is rather reasonable, and gives you a smooth route runner that can make an Offense go, seems like an excellent fit. Losing confidence in Douglas big time, but all will be forgiven if he signs Tyrone Smith.

They also got a starting CB back in the trade. I guess u forgot that part:)

I did, totally wrong misread the trade, thanks. That changes everything . Donte Jackson is a decent CB, Pittsburgh got very good value on that trade , thanks again

My apologies, I’m such a dope

Nah, just a crazy fan!😂

He’s a headcase! Santonio Holmes 2.0!🤮

Expand full comment

I have no patience, seeing all WR’s coming off the Board, Johnson is a head case , and he is one year rental for 10 million. Great Draft for WR’s , but the Jets need a vet WR

Expand full comment

Honestly he’s one of those guys I didn’t want. Another Pittsburg WR head case. Gives me Santonio Holmes flashbacks.😂 I was happy when he was traded elsewhere.

Morgan Moses returns in a trade , Jets sending a fourth 112 and a sixth , getting Moses and a fourth 134

It'd be cool if they brought in Zeigler from the Ravens, as well. Just bring in 3/5 of the Ravens offensive line.

Like Raven Offensive lineman. Adding Ziegler would be outstanding. AVT to LT ? Your offensive line is AVT, Simpson, Tippman , Ziegler, & Moses. That’s before the draft, okay by me.

Expand full comment

No, I wish that everyone would stop with the AVT to OT nonsense. He belongs at OG. Period.

Expand full comment

He's still a really good tackle.

Expand full comment

Just as a reminder, with respect to AVT, we do not know where he is in his recuperation. He may not be ready to start when the season begins.

Morgan with a Salary of only 5.5 (bonus of 1.46 not sure) allow Jets further moves

Expand full comment

Part of the Ravens motivation to move Moses was that they were slightly over the cap by about 200, 000. Peanuts ,absolutely, but it kept them from doing other minor moves.
