Not much better weather here in New England. Enjoy your trip and Happy New Year !

( i saw in the Athlectic they had the Jets taking a LB at 3 - what a mess )

Steve, One has to wonder what will go if we end up at#3 ? A trade down is definitely possible. Maybe some team is hot for the best available defender? A particular WR? Hand in there Stevie, it’s gonna be an interesting off season. As far as I’m concerned the offseason has already begun😂

Don’t disagree and right - off season began when they named Fields the starter. They have to stop screwing around and get a QB. I’m hoping Glenn is not making the decisions.

That Colts pick gets better looking every week

The Colts are expected to start rookie Riley Leonard on Sunday against the Texans, sources told @HolderStephen and me.

After three games with Philip Rivers and the Colts falling out of the playoffs, Indy will get a look at the rookie.

That’s the smart play!

Trading down is easier said than done. Everybody wants to be able to have their cake and eat it too. Few get the chance.

I’m in the trade back camp. Get more assets giving you more options for trades etc. Infusion of players in the top 10- 75 could have solid impact in ‘26. Having said that a bridge QB would be needed.

Went to Sundays fiasco keeping a commitment to my nephew- a NE Pats fan from Boston. Top 5 worst Jet game I’ve ever been to. Glad he enjoyed and had the maturity to as a 16 year old to give his host and old uncle a break on the ball busting. Listening to MVP chants I was tuning it out by looking at that field thinking- what FA would sign with the Jets? Their own like Hall or Johnson and any other why would they come back?

Truly awful team, and a brutal last month watching them.

Not only are the Jets eliminated from the No. 1 pick, they can't leapfrog the Raiders if they win and the Giants get the No. 1 pick.

I’ve resigned myself to the 3rd pick. The question now is what they do with it. Reading through and listening to to all the draft chatter I’m convinced the high end talent in this draft is not as big of a disparity as many recent drafts. I’m thinking someone picked at 10, 12, 14 might actually be on par with one of the top 5 players. So I’m open to trading down if the right offer comes along.

I want the Jets to sign Willis to a deal that means he'll be competing to be a starter. Then pick a quarterback, either later in the first, or in the second round.

If they pay eough they can

I'm glad you and the family are enjoying your stay in Copenhagen David, it is well-deserved.

As far as the draft is concerned, there are no more "what ifs". I don't know the mechanics of the draft order, but if the Giants win again, does that automatically put the Jets in the #2 slot ? I think there is a less than zero chance of the Jets pulling one out against the Bills, the defense as it is now "couldn't stop a cold" and the Bills will never lie down for the Jets, so that's done with. After next week, the path to the 2026 draft will become the top item. I'll reserve any judgement on what they might do until then.

One thing though, Glenn is rapidly talking himself out of his job, which I have absolutely no problem with. I have no confidence in him at all, and he is not cut out to be an HC in the NFL, that's a certainty.

I want to wish all of my compatriots on TJW a very happy and safe New Year's.

Enjoy your stay, David!

I want to share a quote from a poster at Jets Nation, that I found quite interesting. I don't know the poster from Adam. He isn't a frequent poster, and I don't know what his job is. The post could be BS or could be real. Either way I found it interesting. Nothing really new or earth-shaking, rather just more confirmation of what we already knew or strongly suspected.

"FWIW, I had the opportunity to speak with several high-level NFL execs/coaches during the year. Several who had direct relationships with candidates the Jets interviewed for HC/GM. And some who had met and/or interviewed with Woody in the past. Couple of things I learned:

1) Woody is consensus seen as not having a clue, by coaches, GMs, and owners. Doesn't know what he doesn't know. Indecisive on direction of the team. Meddles early and often and emasculates his coaches. The locker room is lost once Woody meddles.

2) Interesting take that Woody had a stronger hand in firing Wilks a couple of weeks back than has been reported. I trust this opinion 100%. Doesn't matter what Glenn said in the press conference. This is a real take. Not to say that he wasn't getting fired at year end either way, but the opinion was that Woody inserting himself here was the first step in Woody meddling and neutering his head coach. As he did with Saleh on LaFleur. It's why I still think the door to firing Glenn is cracked, even if he is most likely back. But it's also why I would think the leash is really short next year if he stays, and almost impossible to build from.

3) The Spielman hire was widely seen by the exec community as ridiculous. The consultant works his way into a job. Clear conflict of interest and proof to execs that Woody still doesn't get it and lacks the ability to make decisions for the team. That he can be rolled.

4) Glenn was viewed by the exec community as being a solid HC candidate, but had red flags that dropped him by consideration from other teams. This was told to me by a couple of folks who had been in the room for interviews with him in the past. Not sure what those flags were, but there were strong feelings on his downside. He was not a serious candidate on other lists. Interesting to hear this take.

On the bright side, there is serious smoke around rumors that Burrow wants out, and might force his way out. If there is any truth to that, that's where I'd burn the picks. As would some of the folks I spoke with."
