Evidently Saleh is starting to feel the pressure. He basically threw Boyle under the bus yesterday when in his defense of Hackett, he said that fans should look at the 22s and see that there were players open the whole game.

Hold it a second Mr All gas, no brake. Who was responsible for bringing Boyle from GREEN BAY. I’m sure he has some part of that decision. It is definitely an insultment to the defense and the fan base that Boyle is still on the roster this morning.

I hope the fans appreciate Garrett Wilson this year because there is no chance in hell that he will ever sign a second contract if this current brain trust is still mismanaging this organization. You talk about management malpractice.

Lastly, yesterday Joes Flacco, first start this year after signing with Cleveland two weeks ago.

23/44. 254 yds 2 tds 1 int.

Don’t know if he wanted to come back but we never heard if the Jets talked him. That line he produced yesterday good enough to beat Atlanta, Pats and the Raiders, and possibly the Chargers.

I guess he was never an option, probably the fact he wasn’t a Lambeau Leaper.

I can’t say they sat on their hands.

If this team fails to win another game this year which looks like a lock, there is no reason that Saleh and Douglas should survive.

They should only keep Brick and Boyer as coordinators.

If Rodgers disapproves, he has two options stay or retire, it won’t matter much because the incompetency of this brain trust have made this team the laughing stock of the NFL.

Lastly, big mouth Saleh said this week, that Rodgers has already sacrificed so much for this organization, it’s a testament to who he is as a human being. ??????

I think the season ticket holders and the fans who spent thousands of dollars on Rodgers Jet gear this year have sacrificed more.

Bobber, well said as always. First things first, Flacco never was nor should he been even a slight consideration for this roster. And frankly he shouldn’t have been the previous 3 seasons either. The offense designed originally by MLF and then Hackett was designed for a mobile QB. Obviously Zach checked that box but neither Mike White or Flacco did. LeFluer was smart enough to adjust the offense for White but Hackett is running plays for Boyle that just don’t work. The minute he feels the heat his eyes drop eliminating any shot of making a play and he looks for a nice quiet place to fall down. Behind this o-line neither he nor Flacco would have no shot to succeed. I agree it’s time to pull the plug on the Saleh experiment and if we do loose these final 5 games I don’t see how the architect of this sorry ass team can survive.

B, couldn't-uvseditbetter mahself.

Flacco during last off season said that he wanted to come back, and would like to stay with the Jets. JD/RS thought otherwise.

I spend my money on season tickets for the past 40 years cause i love watching LIVE football. While there is no return for your money following a Jets team it is still better in my opinion then weatching it on TV. Has nothing to do with Rogers or Jets gear for 99% of season ticket holders. Flacco stinks he would never have done anything with the Jets glad he isnt with the team naymore.

Expand full comment

Your personal opinion of Flacco doesn’t change the fact that his numbers yesterday could never be duplicated by Boyle and Simieon maybe by Zack on a rare occasion.

He might really stink but he is better than the three amigos who ARE the Jet quarterback room.

I’m glad you enjoy going to the game. I did for 37 years. Saleh’s comments about Rodgers sacrificing is just another time of him talking for no reason except for when the dialogue is going against what he wants to hear.

And yes, I think for some people going to a game is a financial sacrifice, especially when there is no positive return on the dollar. My opinion.

Bobber, your thoughts on Flacco omit a very big difference, playing behind a top 3 NFL 0-line in Cleveland with a HC and OC that have a clue what they are doing is a very big difference than playing here with what we have to work with! Flacco looked completely miscast here in this scheme and the situation has only gotten worse under Hackett! Luv ya buddy but it’s no sale on the Flacco thing for me. Boyle is very Flacco like in his movements and we see how that’s worked out!

Expand full comment

Flacco proved yesterday that he can be serviceable in the right situation. Thats not the Jets but he would be better here than Boyle. Again the issue here, is that Boyle is on the roster, he has no business being on an NFL roster. It all goes back to the same question, why is he here, Rodgers? Hackett? Both of them.

Redundancy, it seems like this organization once they obtained Rodgers, stopped building the roster the right way. It’s like they shut their computers off and all went golfing. The only person around here who is allowed to play golf is you.

By the way, Flacco’s leading receiver yesterday, Elijah Moore 4/83. For the season 47-501-1 that’s with playing an injured qb and a collection of backups. That’s a lot better than Lazard and Cobb

Expand full comment

The point is Flacco could have 500 yards and 3 TDs with 31 other teams. He would never ever do that or have a good game with the Jets. I highly doubt he woud be any better then 3 there - give him a shot sure. But the jerk GM The Jets have decided that Flacco wasnt any better then what he had. There are decisions in life - if people spnd their money on Jets season tickets then I guess you could say "they sacrified' getting something else. However the choice was to buy the seaosn tickets - dont see a "sacrfice" i see it as a decision and maybe a bad one LOL.

Grass isn't always greener. Just because a backup quarterback succeeds in one place doesn't mean he'll do so in another. All of the quarterbacks have faced the same issues this season. They're all constantly under pressure, they're all consistently out-of-rhythm, they're all constantly playing behind the sticks...this isn't a case where the problem is personnel. Most of the ineptitude here falls on the offensive coordinator. Whatever he's doing behind the scenes hasn't been working. The whole offense plays horrendously undisciplined football.

I dont totally agree with this. There has to be some amount of talent, arm strenght ,ability to read and react on defences, mobility and quick judgements - of which all 3 QBs on the jets dont have (maybe wilson with the arm strength). Hackette is real bad but they just dont have talent in a number of positions on Offense - I blame the GM and some amount of coaching.

Expand full comment

I'd place a lot of the blame on Hackett and the staff he's put together on offense. Most players in the NFL are right around the same amount of talent; even the quarterbacks. All of these guys have the ability to read defenses, sense pressure, etc. Yes, Flacco has a bit more experience, but it's also likely that the unfamiliarity with the system had something to do with them choosing Siemian. They, honestly, never should've benched Wilson. I guess a fucking intervention for Hackett to get his head out of his ass might have been called for, instead. I'm not sure. All I do know is that replacing one backup quarterback with another backup quarterback doesn't solve the issues.

Steve, thanks for the reply

I think the biggest issue with this team, fan wise, is the anger of the fan base.

If Rodgers doesn’t get hurt, and this team is 8-4, 7-5. Nobody cares that Hackett is the OC or that Boyle is the third string quarterback or we drafted MacDonald over an offensive lineman, or Saleh talks too much nonsense.

But unfortunately he did get hurt and that takes the masquerade mask off of all the screw ups.

Watching every game is comparable to Chinese Water Torture.

The anger of years of mismanagement is going to get worst.

Woody makes decisions on what he sees on social media, so it should get very trying for Saleh and JD. Unfortunately, Woody is part of the issue but he is untouchable as the owner. Plus this November season ticket nonsense shows what his real intentions are with this team💰💵💸💰💵💸💰💵💸.

By the way Coach Saleh, we are collecting receipts, you words not mine

You nailed it "Chinese Water Torture" LOL so true. Im not sure even with Rogers they would be better then a 500 team ? Like i said to Ron - the roster contrucrion is really really bad. Injuires sure but other teams somehow survive them. Totally agree on Woody - asking for renewals that early and not knowing if anyone is going to be held accoutable is a typicle Johnson move - its disgusting. He is issue number 1 ! Saleh good guy but never going to collect recipts as none of us are. Where i live im the only jets fan so i hear it all the time and im sick of it.

Again dude....why does Robert Saleh answering targeted media questions piss you off so much? Really....I'm trying to understand why this is such a giant talking point every single week. Why does him attempting to provide responses to reporters' questions that will make everybody happy piss you (and a large subset of fans) off? Big mouth? Dude, really?

Do I expect 100% honesty no, but don’t give answers that totally are opposite of what we see.

“ We are a few tweaks from having a really fun offense to watch.” His words not mind.

Abandakanda can’t play because he hasn’t learned to block yet or play special teams. Does Cook play special teams. Did you see him play matador on a Siemion strip sack.

Honestly just my opinion about Saleh.

If my post annoy you, I apologize but this is my way to rant. It is very hard to watch a Jet game at 1, then the 4:25 game It’s comparable to go from watching D2 footfall first then SEC football later. I say to myself why can’t the Jets be a consistent winner like these teams. It’s very disheartening to be fan of this team. They constantly disappoint their fan base.

Been a fan since 1963, very hard to keep my sanity in regards to them.

I understand the frustration, my man. I, truly, do. That offense is offensive. The offensive line is an absolute mess. The offense plays with zero accountability and even less poise. The only thing I can think of that is going wrong has to do with the coordinator and the type of environment he has set up. I'm not sure what else could be going on.

The Abanikanda thing has always been misconstrued. He was giving two separate answers about Abanikanda. He isn't dressing because he, first, he hasn't learned the protections enough to take away reps from Cook or Hall, and second, he doesn't play special teams. The special teams thing isn't why he isn't playing over Cook. It's the reason he isn't dressing, in addition to Cook.

Like they said on the post game show - "Breece Hall running the Wild Cat" this week. Most us have said there isnt a QB on. that team since Rogers went down. I sat there in the rian watching 3 and outs and penalties. Ayt Least Breece will move the team. There is no way following a 6 game losing streak then a 10 game losing streak this year anyone keeps thier jobs. They are going to end up with the 3rd pick and Douglas cant be allowed to draft using that pick.

😂 Yeah, I saw the post game show. I feel almost as bad for those guys than I do for you for having to put up the 💩 this team is putting on the field these days!

Steve, I gotta give you credit for even attending yesterday’s 💩show. This game was there to be had with even below average QB play. As much of a non Zach fan as I am I’m pretty sure we win this game if he plays . My guess is none of these 3 QB’s will be allowed back in building after the season finale in January. If we do finish this season with 10 consecutive wins there is no way we bring either JD or RS back next season. And if AR doesn’t like it he can go too. As assembled this team is going nowhere next season AR or not!

I truly hope they don't get rid of Saleh and Douglas. They've done so much good in the last 2.5 and 3.5 years...this offensive clusterfuck has to be on Hackett. I can't figure out what is wrong with this group. The only thing I can come up with is the ship isn't run all that tightly on the offensive side. The mistakes are legion, and they are many. I was watching this sucker yesterday and couldn't help but think having Zach Wilson out there the last two games would've at least given the offense a chance. I know he doesn't have good enough pocket presence, yet, but his feel for the pocket is lightyears ahead of Siemian or Boyle. Maybe it's a result of playing time and reps.

Danny Boy, I usually agree with you but not on this one. The only thing I can glean from your vigorous JD and RS support is the fact that prior to their arrival things were even worse. Yes some improvement is noteworthy but it’s just not enough! Drafting Becton over Wirfes? Drafting ZW over Micah Parsons? Over Peneai Sewell, Jamar Chase? We had Darnold to hold the fort until we had the roster to a point where a rookie could succeed. Sam wasn’t great but he was a hell of a lot better than Zach!

I'm with you on the misses. I think we've seen progress with regards to those swings and misses, though. I thought the last two drafts and UDFA periods have gone quite well. This damn Aaron Rodgers thing still kills me. You might be right about these two just being head and shoulders better than Macagnan/Idzik/Gase. I usually just hate teams recycling coaches and GMs every three years.

Thanks Ron ! Agree with everything you say. What gets me - we go from talking at least the Divsion Crown and Playoffs; some Super Bowl talk to a team that is actually close to the 2-14 season 3 years ago. The construction of the roster (offense) has to be really bad.

Total disgrace once again. Fans shud boycott the rest of the games. In the real world, the first that shud that be pushed off the plank is JD. I expected much from him from where he had worked. How he handled the QB and offensive line situation is beyond anything I can describe. And all the rest as well. Excepting the early part of the 2022 draft , DJ Reed and Quincy, horrible horrible job. I wud like to grill him myself at or before the end of the season.

I would hate to see JD & Saleh go. Let's look at the positives: just look at this defense! JD & crew built that! Trading that safety head-case away to the Seahawks was great! Drafting Sauce, Garrett Wilson & Breece Hall, great! Acquiring DJ Reed & Quincy Williams, wonderful! We even have a great punter AND kicker now! Rookie center Joe Tippmann looks like a keeper from the dreaded 2nd round! Safety Ashtyn Davis FINALLY looks like he's worth a 3rd round pick! When have we had ANY sort of competence at the GM position before? Sure, he ain't perfect, not by a longshot, but remember the idiots we had in this building before! OL injuries and not having competent backups is what hurt us the most, that's on JD. Why the hell would you let George Fant & Morgan Moses go be starters for other teams? Picking Zach Wilson was also a mistake but that's the way it goes with QBs, you either hit or miss and this one is a miss. I hope they pick another QB high in the next draft but screw this trading a bunch of picks to get a guy, we've done this so many times before and it never seems to work out! Maybe we could get lucky FOR ONCE and get a future Brock Purdy, Lamar Jackson, or Josh Allen sit behind Rodgers for a year or two. And let's pressure Woody to REPLACE THAT DAMN TURF WITH GRASS! MetLife Stadium was voted by NFL peers as the worst stadium to play football in because of the turf. Hey Woody, do you like paying your premier guys for rehabbing injuries all the time? Maybe it's not always the fault of the turf but this would at least be a step in the right direction! Finally, we somehow need to SACK the referees at MetLife! That last game with the Falcons was some of the worst officiating I have ever seen (and there have been plenty of others this season, too, like against KC!)

David, there is nothing boring about anything you write, so you will always be my first stop in the AM. I've pretty much stopped looking at GGN completely as your information is first-class and always cogent and reasonable.

This season is pretty much over, even my daughter's dog knows it. Maybe one more win, but I'm not hopeful. And they have to have a serious talk with St. Rogers about the Leapers. Hackett, Billy Turnstile and Cobb have to go. Lazard will be here by default but he needs to find the key to unlock his wrists.

And the worst part is that no one knows how effective St. Rodgers surgery was, and if he has any real mobility at all when all is said and done. That makes really fixing the o-line paramount, because if he is a statue back there, it won't be pretty. But what will be will be.

good morning David and TJW -

don't knock yourself, this is still my first stop in the AM.

But it's not about getting good news; I too, saw the wretched performance.

It's like being on a lifeboat after the ship has sunk; we are desperately waiting for rain to have fresh water... but what are you gonna do? Not look at the other folks in the raft? Not much can be done, David, except...

FOCUS ON THE DRAFT!!

we are currently pick #7, behind the Giants. Almost wish they would've won that match between us; we'd be #5 then. (But the season's not over YET, chime in the TJW'ers... there's still HOPE, CGV!!!)

#7 is worth 1500 value. I say Trade DOWN, get more picks, GET BACK INTO THE 2ND ROUND!!!

more to follow later...

correction - we are #5 pick

worth 1700 value.

Arizona #19 (875); 2ndRd, #35 (550); 3rdRd, #67 (255) = 1680. Get JD to have Arizona toss in 2025 5th rounder.

If the Jets don't bulk up on quality FA OL, especially tackle, then guys like OT Latham, versatile OT/OL Bartham, OT Mims* are available, and Fuaga projects around 16, 17, maybe he'll drop.

* - on Mims: he's another beast, yuge like Mekhi - and some guys here may be hesitant to bank on another tall guy with possible weight problems... but ck the below brief, from PFF.COM:

> He has a massive frame, but he's athletic with it, too. His flexibility allows him to get a wide base while keeping his back flat to generate a ton of power and more leverage than one would expect.

> Mims is 6'7", 340#. He's better than Becton, and that description - "... get a wide base... keeping his back flat... power & more leverage ..." - Becton's lack of these same qualities is what I've pinged on a couple of times here on TJW.

So, yes - a quality OT can be had if the Jets are at 19. Not the surefire guys like ALT or FASHANU, but starters from day 1, young and HEALTHY! And lets face it, guys - the Jets need way more than just a Joe ALT on the OLine. Becton is probably gone, Brown is, too - leaving Tippmann & AVT as the quality, First Tier starters. McGovern can come back, giving us another above average OL. We need two or at least one starter added either via FA or the draft. This trade makes sense, and gets us back into the 2nd round. Me, I'd use the 2nd rounder (if the Jets go OT @ 19) on a QB prospect; Sanders, Beck, maybe McCarthy are still on the board.

OR....

use 19 to get McCarthy and have him sit behind AR his first year. Wilson, Boyle, Siemian are all gone next year, so the Jets will also need to pick up a vet FA QB. Winston, Minschew, Darnold are FA next year.

Then use rds 2 & the two #3's (67 & 69 if this swap goes through) wisely, there are no home runs to be had here, but plenty of good players left on OL, WR, DT.

What say youze?

But let's wait until the end of the season to really prognosticate. The way things are looking, in all honesty, maybe they win one game, but that's it. If they lose out totally they are looking at #3 and they could definitely swing a deal with someone and get back more picks and/or players. But if they lose out, the question is do they trust JD with the deal, period. I think Saleh has to go no matter what, he is a dead man walking. If for nothing else to show that there is some accountability. I feel bad for him in those pressers, he just either doesn't know what to say or can't say what he really feels. The place where the most blame should go is ownership, they've really screwed the pooch for quite a few years. We don't know what goes on between WoodHead, St. Rodgers and JD, but whatever it is, it isn't working. As far as this season goes, ZW will probably end up starting again because Boyle is just pitiful and Siemian had his first game action yesterday. It's the worst nightmare season that I can remember, even including Gase, Walton and Kotite. Maybe they should hire Bart Scott and Willie Colon as consultants, lol.
