Good morning!
Yesterday I was asked why I love sports so much. If you counted all the teams I follow I think you’d be closing in on 10. I had no idea how to answer that question, watching and being invested in sports has been a part of my life for as long as I remember Neither of my parents was into sports, and neither of my brothers was into sports, so where did it come from? I have no idea. But why do you love sports so much? If you’re reading this, a daily newsletter about the Jets, who won’t play another game for around 8 months, then it’s safe to assume you love sports.
According to his agent, Dalvin Cook has been signed to the Ravens 53-man roster for the AFC Divisional Playoff game against the Houston Texans and is expected to play. Despite every metric suggesting he’s done…would I be shocked to see him rush for 100 yards and a touchdown on Saturday because…well…Jets? Not really.
PFF outlined one free agent that each team should pursue in the 2024 off-season:
When you look at the season statistics for the offensive line, in an ideal world you see 5 names. Back in 2009, the Jets got all but 14 snaps from their starting five, Matt Slauson played 7 snaps for Alan Faneca at LG and 2 snaps for Nick Mangold at C, apart from that the starting five played the entire season without interruption. D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Alan Faneca, Nick Mangold, Brandon Moore and Daniel Woody all played over 1,000 snaps. It was a simpler time.
Take a look at the Jets season statistics for 2023 and it’s a who’s who of offensive linemen. The only player to achieve that 1,000 snap mark was Laken Tomlinson, although Mekhi Becton came close at 985.
5 different players took snaps at left tackle
Mekhi Becton (883)
Carter Warren (107)
Duane Brown (101)
Austin Deculus (38)
Billy Turner (7)
2 different players took snaps at left guard
