Friday Notes
Edition #858
☀️ Good Morning ☕
I’m going to start using Friday’s newsletter more as a short form quick note edition. There are a lot of things that happen with the Jets or the NFL in general that don’t necessarily requite a full length piece, but that are interesting to cover.
We did get some dates for the Jets off-season program. Rookie minicamp will start on the 9th and finish on the 11th of May. OTA workouts are May 20–22, May 28–30, June 2–5 and then mandatory camp is set for June 10–12. Only the sessions running between the 10th-12th of June are mandatory, the rest is voluntary. Although I’m sure Glenn is hoping for a near perfect attendance. Hopefully nobody has booked a trip to the Pyramids or the Great Wall of China.
The news of Jordan Travis retiring is sad on so many levels, I can’t imagine what it must be like to get so close to realising a lifetime dream only for the rug to be pulled out from under your feet at the 11th hour.
Life for the Jets however, has to go on.
Did the Jets know this was on the cards? At the moment they have Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, Adrian Martinez and Brady Cook on the roster. Most teams operate a camp with four QBs and the Jets had five before the Jordan Travis announcement. Even if they didn’t know that retirement was coming, they likely knew that Travis wouldn’t be ready for camp, which is why they signed Brady Cook.
