Saleh is correct, let’s wait until the pads come on. Takk is a 6’2 , 250 pound DE, that relies on quickness, active hands, and pure speed. He has had six sacks in three days of practice, two sacks came where he was unblocked, two came against Scrubeenie OT Austin Deculus, but Takk is fast, quick and relentless. Jets may have another pass rusher, and may be able to come at teams in waves, great depth at DE.
Takk has had two significant injuries, first a shoulder injury, but the second was an Achilles tear in December 2021 with Cleveland. There have been a huge number of Achilles injuries lately. If you’re a Pass Rusher, that relies on quickness, this injury is devastating. Pass Rushers will always get numerous opportunities so Takk went from the Browns , to the Titans, to the Rams , to the Cowboys, but Achilles injuries take time to heal. In 2024 , the Jets give McKinley a tryout, and signed him to a vet minimum at 1.2. Achilles injuries take time, it’s been over two full years since the injury , and the question will be has Takk regained his explosiveness ? Maybe
David, I'm sorry that you have been disappointed with Ruckert so far. I'm not. After all, he was injured most of his rookie season. Then last season, what chance did he have with the abysmal QB play and the terrible OL for much of the season? GW, Conklin, Breece, and maybe Tippman are the only ones on offense who looked good last season. I think he's going to have a coming out party this year and enjoy a breakout season. It normally takes TEs 2-3 years to develop.
Next to Rodgers, the player getting the most press is Reddick and his holdout. Strangely, he has never even wore a Jet uniform one day.
Joshua Anderson put the following holdout note up on X ( formerly Twitter). Maybe the rumors that Reddick will be signed and in camp really soon have so validity
From Joshua, Holdout Note: The #Jets 6th day of training camp is Monday.
Under CBA Article 4, section 9, a player who’s missed six preseason days from the start of camp may be required to forfeit up to 15% of his forfeitable salary allocations for that year, and an additional 1% of said total for each additional day missed after that, up to a maximum of 25% during the preseason.
It’s important to note: The above penalty for breach of contract is separate from the daily $50k/day fine that’s mandatory for missing camp on a veteran contract. Alternately, the breach of contract penalty is discretionary.
As fans, we can only hope that McKinley, Watt and McGregor can continue their excellent performances in camp during the preseason games. Maybe their positive camps can lit a fire under Cleamons who showed great promise his rookie year but really tailed off last year.
As I have said many times here, there are many members of the Torch and Pitchfork Brigade smarter than me in player evaluation. So I pose this question.
On cutdown day, how many defensive linemen do the Jets keep for opening day, tackles included and who might they be.
You wonder why suddenly we are getting reports about contract progress ? 50,000 a day is chump change, to these guys, we are now getting into serious money. Is Monday the Sixth Day ? Expect an announcement today. Jets will carry 10 Defensive Lineman which will include Takk and UNDFA Watt
From an ideal I would prefer keeping McG go keeping Takk. He’s going into his age 30 season. At maybe 6’2 250 he’s similar in size to Reddeck. Which means as 4-3 DE’s they are undersized. Mcg will get picked up if we try to stash him on the PS. Takk🤔
I understand where you're coming from, Ron, but I disagree. This is an all-in year. If it wasn't, then OK, if everything else is equal, you go with the younger guy, but at this point things are nowhere near equal. McGregor hasn't shown nearly enough yet. That could change as TC progresses and preseason begins, but at this point, I'm keeping Takk. He has been on fire, the most dominant player on the Jets' D so far in TC. He has years of experience in the NFL and has experience with Ulbrich.
I saw nothing from the couple of times I saw McGregor play in college, his college stats, or reports from OTAs or TC that would lead me to keep him over Takk. The only thing he as going for him imo is that he's younger. I hope that he proves me wrong, however, and really shows out in the rest of training camp and in preseason and makes it tough on the Jets.
Watt has shown a lot. So far, I haven't seen Taylor's name mentioned once as making a play or standing out in any way. I've only seen McGregor's name mentioned 2x, I think, once in OTAs, and once in TC. At this point, I agree that Takk and Watt are the last 2 DL on the roster.
Are you referring to Josina Anderson? If so, she may take umbrage at your referring to her as "Joshua." AFAIK, she hasn't been anywhere near Jericho. ;-)

5 DE’s : JJ, McD, Clemons, Watt, Reddick ( eventually).
4 DT: Q, Kinlaw, Leki, Solly, (maybe a camp darling if Smart/ Taylor, Holmes perform)
I think that you're probably correct, but I can see where if Takk keeps playing as well as he has against the 1st, he could beat out Clemons.

Excellent point. Certainly McGregor is the better long term play, pads will tell the tale.

The pads are on. This is the time when you can get a read on both Offensive and Defensive Lineman. The cream will rise
I did a cut and paste on J Anderson. Either smart phone got to smart or who I copied from wrote her name wrong
I swear I’m innocent lol
LOL
