David, you aren’t wrong but my anger is centered on Saleh. He is a Defensive Coordinator posing as a HC. He doesn’t seem to know he owns the offense too. 3 of the 5 worst offensive performances in Jet history are on his watch. Jets need a brilliant offensive mind at the top in this NFL.
Ulbrich should get a raise to stay around when they dump Saleh. Not sure that will work but the idea Aaron will save them next year is tough to swallow - that media hype train will start up soon. I love Aaron, but I am not getting on that train.
Agreed. I've largely defended Saleh but I don't think I can anymore. Offence is going backwards and maybe he is being prevented from firing Hackett by Aaron through Woody, but at the very minimum...you need to have your players ready to go. If you're at a talent deficiency, you can still play tough, you can still be prepared. Jets are showing a real lack of preparation and that is 100% on the coaches and the coaches come under the remit of the Head Coach. I really wouldn't be upset if we cleaned house this morning. It's not happening, we'll be sold on Aaron coming back as the reason for excitement and we'll continue to perpetual cycle of hope and despair.
David, I think they all need to be fired today and I wud be very happy about it. First , the fans need to have a total no show at the final home game. And there shud be a massive effort by all the fans to make as much noise as possible. How about flying a banner over the stadium with the writing "They all Must go".
The Jets was so badly outcoached yesterday in every phase, and they had one less day to prepare. The offensive line coach needs to be fired immediately if nothing else - Zach was running for his life on every snap as soon as he got the ball. I stopped watching after first half.
David, you know I luv ya brother but the jury is in on Sach Wilson. There is no debate in my mind that his ship has sailed. Obviously yesterday’s 💩 show was not in him. The entire o-line other than Tippman was a total disaster. If I were in charge I would remove GW and Breece from the equation for fear of getting them killed. Last season we all felt we were a good team without a QB. At this point that seems like a distant memory. This o-line is the absolute worst I have seen in all my years here. I never thought I would long for the days of Connor McDermott, Chuma Edoga, Jonathan Harrison, Alex Lewis,Nate Herbig and Dan Feeney.
I haven't turned off a game all year. I turned this disgusting excuse for football off in the third quarter. Once Zach left concussed, this thing was over.
After watching Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Lioness and Tulsa King. Bass Reeves a major disappointment from Sheridan. You can put Sicario and Hell and High Water as must watch.
I live in Georgia and they took the game off the air in the 3rd quarter and switched to a more competitive game. That was the best play of the game, saved me some misery.
I think this may be my propensity to zig when everybody else zags, but I still am not convinced that Robert Saleh has much to do with the problems on this team. I think there is something to be said about a head coach who refuses to make adjustments to certain parts of the staff or the team, but I'm not convinced that Robert Saleh has the authority to fire Nate Hackett or take away the man's play-calling duties. Aaron Rodgers and his agent, I'd argue, have an inordinate amount of power in this equation. There isn't much Saleh can do about the offense if he doesn't have the leeway to give ultimatums to the offensive coaching staff.
I'd also point out that Robert Saleh, even if he did have the authority to remove the offensive coordinator or, at the very least, get them to change up the play-calling structure, wouldn't exactly wind up coming over to offense and changing things. That's, just, not how head coaches work. I think this is a major misconception about head coaches and what, exactly, they're doing. Yes, they're providing leadership to the entire team below them (players, assistant coaches, coordinators) and providing an overarching plan for how the team wants to play ball. They don't, however, come in and implement their own game plan on the offense or call their own plays or do anything that necessarily requires the head coach to be an esteemed offensive mind. The calls for the Jets to hire an offensive mind as a head coach, I think, are a bit misguided. Sure, that will result in the team being run by the guy who is running the offense (probably), but I'm not even sure it's a good thing to have the head coach being intricately tied to the actual scheming and play-calling of either side of the ball. The head coach should be a bird's eye POV. I think there are some outliers who have succeeded as play-callers/head coach (Andy Reid, Sean McVay), but you usually want a guy who is looking at things from a distance. I think the jury is still out on whether Saleh actually would be able to do that with a competent OC, but calling for an OC as the head coach feels a little "forest-for-the-trees"-y.
I really think it’s time for Rodgers to read the room ( fan base, social media, regular media) and be a real friend and convince Hackett to give up play calling). If Hackett is still calling plays on Sunday and the jets lose to Washington ( I’m assuming Rodgers got smart and decided to sit 2023 out) then Florham Park next week will look like Bastile in Paris. Heads will roll.
...it turned out that The Jets (and i dont want to say 'we') are playing for a draft pick. This is not just "Aaron Rogers" making the team a SB contender next year. They are losing thier kids as well. G. Wilson, Sause ,Hall all of them mentally are going to start to checkout and thats bad. The biggest issue especially with what happened yesterday - no one is held accountable and fired. They pulled the game from CBS - come on !
The NY Jets under the ownership of Woody Johnson, the managing of Joe Douglas and the Coaching of Robert Saleh yesterday did the impossible. They presented to the most loyal fan base of the NFL and to the NFL world, the worst played game in Jet history which by the end of the season, will be the worst season in Jet History.
Before anyone slanders Rich Kotite, chew on these facts. Yesterday, the Jets totaled 103 total yards, Kotite’s worst game, his team totaled 162 yards. In fact, the 1996, 1-15 team within a four week period gained 454, 422 and 411 yards. That totals 1287 total yards, how many games would it take the Hackett’s Prevent Offense to produce 1287 yards.
Yesterday, a supposed NFL coached team needing a win to maybe start a miraculous march to a very unlikely playoff spot came out and gave the most embarrassing performance.
The fact that neither Saleh or Hackett wasn’t fired after that game truly shows the incompetence of the Johnson ownership.
If Woody Johnson is afraid to upset Rodgers then he really shows his incompetence as an owner.
Who is really running this team. He screwed his loyal ticket holders by demanding 2024 payments 11/15/23. Yes, loyal fans pay up now so you could see Saleh and Hackett give you a repeat performance of total incompetence next year.
I find it totally amazing that Douglas worked under Ozzie Newsome for years. Newsome is considered as an all time great GM.
Would Ozzie let his whole season bank on the return of a 38 year old tackle coming off of rotator cuff surgery.
Douglas right now is living on the fact that Sauce, Garrett and that whole draft fell into his lap. His other drafts are almost comparable to Mr Coffee’s, mediocre at best. The sad part about Sauce and Garrett, can you honestly see them signing a second contract here in a few years.
For the uninformed fans, Garrett is a treasure, after yesterday’s game he said he must learn to perform better, run his routes better. Really, has Hackett tried to put him in one and one situations, like Miami did all day with Waddle yesterday. The answer, OFF COURSE NOT. Garrett taking blame for that sorry excuse of a game plan, shows why he must be a keeper. God almighty, please bring offensive coaches in here who know what they are doing.
Saleh, all gas, no breaks. It’s really all bullshit, 24/7.
He said quite a few weeks back that this offense is a tweak from being fun to watch. Yesterday’s deplorable performance was anything but fun, it was a f**ken embarrassment, unwatchable for the most loyal fan. But let’s be real here. Fans have been saying all year, that this team never comes out ready to play. Every first quarter is listless, flat.
To the Saleh defenders, did you see how many second string quarterbacks are excelling the last few weeks, so the Rodgers injury is BS. Offensive line injuries, Miami used there 8th different combination yesterday, where was our pass rush. Oh that’s right, Miami’s offensive coaches put in schemes to protect their quarterback, isolate their offensive stars and didn’t miss a beat.
So no, coach Saleh, injuries are no longer an excuse. Good coaching and good schemes overcome injuries. You and your staff have proved to be offensively incompetent during your 3 year tenure. But what should fans expect, when our so called qualified offensive coordinators turn out to be your best friend’s brother or your quarterback’s best friend. Who’s next, your son’s Pop Warner coach, he couldn’t do any worse.
If Rodgers was truly Hackett’s best friend, he would have talked him into giving up play calling duties weeks ago but with three games left why bother. Hackett has proven arrogant Sean Payton right. To show how incompetent Hackett is, he admits that last weeks second half 30 point explosion was not part of his game plan for the Texans.
Hackett has done the impossible, he is now truly the worst offensive coach in Jets history.
So not to shock any fans here, first offensive play first and third quarter next week for the Jets, Hall up the middle. Why change anything now.
What is truly sad here is that Hackett might be a really great human being, yet nobody in the Jets organization is willing to get him out of the spotlight that is destroying his reputation. Not Woody, not JD, not Saleh, not even best friend Aaron. Way to go guys, thumbs up👍
Also, Garrett Wilson is a friggin' gem. Do everything you can to keep that man in Florham Park. Give him whatever he wants. Give him that Patrick Mahomes deal. The guy is such a paragon of professionalism and team-first mentality. I love the dude
I'm not certain that Saleh actually had the authority to do anything about the offense. Nate Hackett was in charge over there and there isn't much Saleh can do about it. That was the give/take of bringing in Rodgers. You had to give him and his buddy total control. I'm not sure who was behind that, ultimately (Woody or Douglas...I'd like to think it wasn't Douglas since it would be a complete reversal for him), but it kind of castrates the head coach.
I don't think Woody has the stones to do what needs to be done here. The HC, offensive coordinator, offensive line coach should be shown the door. Maybe the receivers coach, too. Let Ulbrich be interim HC for the remainder of the season, and yes, offer him bigger $ to stay next year - if he wants a shot at being the permanent HC I'd say he's earned it, but keeping in mind that we really do need an offensive minded HC. Let's just keep in mind that being a defensive guru is not an automatic disqualifier - see Demeco Ryans in Houston to emphasize this.
Keep the rest of the defensive coaching staff, and ST as well. Start shopping hard for an offensive-minded candidate, even fm the college ranks (Harbaugh?).
Rodgers? Well, if he really wants to leave because Hackett is gone, so be it. Cut the losses, know that we gave away a 2nd rounder, and start anew knowing that at least we have a sterling defense that's coming back pretty much intact next year, and we know that if this team only had just an AVERAGE offense, one that could put together long drives and put points on the board, that this Jets Defense could be truly great because they would be well-rested and could literally pin their ears back and get after anyone across from them on the LOS.
Draft - all Offense. I know Alt is the prize, but if we are truly, now, going to be picking top 6, top 4, I really, really think it makes sense to trade down, with Arizona who is now sitting at 17, and get back into the 2nd round. It's not just the LT spot we need (because Brown and Becton are gone, for sure - and good riddance on the latter...). Mitchell is average at best, and between Turner & Becton, the Jets might as well give opposing teams and EZ-Pass because their pass rushers get through so quickly. We can get a 1-B, sound, starter OT in the mid-1st round, and can get another quality starter lineman, maybe another tackle or a guard, in round two. And yes, we still need an RT, and a guard, too.
And please, please, please, do NOT let AVT play tackle any more! I'm sick and effin' tired of seeing him get hurt; leave him at his original position and let him and Tippmann open up holes in the line for Hall, Anaconda to burst through, not to mention that together they are excellent in pass protection.
Aside from that David, in 7 hours it will be seven PM your time, 2:00PM mine. Let's agree to both have a shot, together, at that time - so that we can show the Football gods that we Jets Fans can act in solidarity no matter where on the Planet we are. And we'll toast to Hope, to Garrett Wilson, and to telling Misery to fuck off, she doesn't have us yet.
yeah, I should have explained that more clearly. I think if JD goes as well, that is too much of a reset, and the team will not get anywhere in at least two years, maybe more. JD, imho, his biggest faults lie in how he's handled the offensive line, though the injuries aren't on him - I fault the OL coaches & strength/conditioning team for that.
His 2nd fault is, he likes to swing for the fences in the draft. 2023 draft, Jets chose McDonald, which we didn't need. The Jets could have traded down with Seattle, who was sitting at 20, for more draft picks. Seattle would have rushed to the podium with that deal, because they really wanted another receiver - and the Jets could have picked Anton Harrison, an OT who went on pick 27 iirc, to the Jags, and has put together a good rookie year as their starting OT. Then, had that trade been done, the Jets still get Tippmann with their native 2nd round pick, plus have an additional #2 pick.
you're prob gonna say now, "... but CGV, you're just making the case for letting him go!" with my above two examples. But any replacement GM next year is gonna be hamstrung by our current draft pick status (our 2 goes to Green Bay). I think the key is to fire Saleh & Hackett & Carter, put someone with a better offensive mindset, and after getting rid of certain players who aren't contributing but are costing $$$ (Lawson, Becton for example), going FA for at least one quality OL.
Oh, and Phil, what time zone are you in? I'm still doin my shot though David hasn't replied, at 2:00PM EST. Would like to know there's another Jets Fan out there doing the same in Spirit and in Deed - so we can both tell Misery to fuck off.
I'm, honestly, not a huge fan of arranged marriages when it comes to coaching staffs. Let the head coach bring in the guys that he wants. The minute they brought in Hackett to be, essentially, the head coach of the offense, the season was doomed. Saleh has no authority to do a thing about the offense. This power structure was fucked from the onset. Am I crazy or should they have let Mike LaFleur develop?
I'd, honestly, rather see them keep Douglas and Saleh, fire the entire offensive staff, and start over from scratch on that side of the ball. Set this thing up so that Saleh actually has the ability to build a team of his own instead of being told that he has to outsource offensive decisions to Aaron Rodgers and Nate Hackett. Who would've thought that Carter would put together such a dumpster fire offensive line, too.
Sorry my friend The injuries are on him! Most definitely! JD set up this entire o-line disaster by going into not one but two consecutive seasons relying on both projected starters at the OT position returning from season ending surgeries! Becton and Fant in 2022 and Becton and Brown again this season. Add in the fact that Becton blew off the entire 2022 off season training camp program to sit home eating Big Mac’s and pizza’s while getting himself up to 400lbs. And Brown’s medical condition prevented him from doing anything until a week before the season opener? He didn’t last one game. Come on man....JD is 100% to blame for this disaster.
Sorry but this team needs a young offensive mind to be the HC.
I’m so tired of defensive HCs that don’t have a clue about offense.
Over the years, these defensive geniuses have hired clock coach, timeout coach, throw l the red flag 🚩 coach. Miami’s coach was on the same staff as Saleh, who would you want now.
Nothing against Brick, but who does he have connections with that isn’t someone’s third cousin on his grandmother’s side.
Get the OC in Texas, I’m sure Detroits will be in San Diego.
Unfortunately, the way the Jets are currently set up, what young coach would want to come here and get their reputation pummeled. They would be forced to hire some retread OC or another defensive guy

Me, too, Douglas - didn't even see the game past the 2nd quarter 2 min warning. I watched Lawman Bass Reeves instead, much better TV.
I haven't turned off a game all year. I turned this disgusting excuse for football off in the third quarter. Once Zach left concussed, this thing was over.

I am living in the Philippines now so I am now 13 hours ahead of East Coast time.
OK, so it's 9:39pm your time. Break out the bottle, and I'll do one, too.

Merry Christmas CGV
