Good morning! ☕
We’ve got plenty of quick notes today including a mock draft, some comments from MC and Sauce, an impressive number for Bryce Huff and what one former league executive would do if he were Joe Douglas holding the #10 pick in this year's draft.
🐶 USA Today released a new mock draft and considering today’s topic, it made sense to include it here. They had the Jets taking Brock Bowers out of Georgia: “Catering to Aaron Rodgers is still the priority above all for Gang Green. While revamping the offensive front is necessary, it seems like a stretch to think any rookie could come in and provide Rodgers with sufficient protection. Bowers, meanwhile, boasts the superlative ball skills and run-after-catch ability to be an immediate asset in the passing game as someone who can help ease the burden on Garrett Wilson.”
🏆 Aaron Rodgers has been speaking to Eric Allen of the official NYJ website and said: "We're all on a mission if you're highly competitive, if not what the hell are we doing?" he said. "I'm on a mission to win and to dominate. Winning is a team stat, it takes a team to win in all three phases, 11 guys. Domination can be a little more individual, it can be done by the offensive or defensive teams. There's a lot of that, domination can come from work and the mindset you put it. It's always my goal to win and to dominate."
🫡 PFF had an article outlining one reason for optimism for every non playoff team, and for the Jets they said: “The Jets' 2023 campaign went down the drain within the first few snaps. Aaron Rodgers‘ torn Achilles left the team with little chance to make a playoff run, although the defense did make the team competitive at times. They’ll get Rodgers back on the field and fully healthy in 2024. From there, we can truly assess whether the Jets can be true contenders.”
😬 Pro Football Network also had a mock draft out yesterday and they had the Jets taking Wide Receiver Keon Coleman. We’ve seen a few people put the Jets and Coleman together, but I’m not convinced that’s the best use of the #10 pick. “With the top two offensive tackles off the board, the Jets could look to Alabama’s JC Latham, but I have them going with a height-weight-speed receiver in Keon Coleman. Coleman is going to test really well and should be in the elite range for his RAS (Relative Athletic Score). He can beat defenses deep or at the catch point, giving New York another offensive weapon.”
