Good morning!☕
The Mets started their pre-season in the best way possible taking game one in Milwaukee, and Norwich avoided defeat at home for the 19th game in a row last night drawing with arguably the best team in the league. Which means I’m in a pretty chirpy mood this morning despite the Jets stinking up the joint on Sunday.
I wasn’t going to talk about Davante Adams this morning…but then the goalposts were moved yesterday when the star wide receiver made it known to the Raiders that he wanted to be moved. The Jets won’t be the only team interested, I’m sure the Chiefs and Steelers among others are making calls, but the Jets are probably the favourites to land Davante based on his history with Aaron.
As long as Aaron Rodgers has been the Jets QB, Davante Adams has been linked with a move to New York.
For a long time Adams has rejected the idea of making a move, stating that he was happy in Las Vegas. That changed yesterday when the star receiver requested a trade.
Two weeks ago Raiders HC Antonio Pierce accused some of his players of making business decisions. Then Adams was sidelined with a hamstring injury and Pierce yesterday liked a post on Instagram about Adams having played his final down for the Las Vegas Raiders.
That was before the trade request that was put in on Tuesday afternoon which was broken by NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Both have claimed no deal is imminent, but overnight uStadium reported that the Jets and Raiders had been talking as recently as yesterday.
Adams joined the Raiders in large part to reunited with Derek Carr who he played with at Fresno State. Carr is now in New Orleans which snipped another string holding Adams in Las Vegas. Add that to his comments from the Netflix documentary Receiver: "I gotta get the f--- out of here before I lose my f---ing life. I ain't never been hit this many f---ing times in my career. Every game, I get f---ed up." It’s easy to see why this may be the end of the line for the Raiders/Adams connection.
Now I know what you’re thinking, uStadium are not reputable when it comes to breaking news, usually I would agree but when it comes to the Jets they seem to have some real sources dating back to 2018 when they broke the Jets trading up to #3 in the draft, so while I wouldn’t bet my house on it…I’m not ready to ignore it either. Plus, it makes a lot of sense for the Jets.
Adams made an appearance on the Up & Adams show yesterday and was asked if he missed Aaron Rodgers, to which he responded “How could you not” before elaborating on what makes Rodgers so special..
