Good morning.
Apologies that TJW is hitting your inbox a little later today. I had one prepped and ready to go as I was working late last night on a Spanish football game…then the Jets decided to make a major signing so I had to start from scratch this morning.
Ironically the post that I had to scrap was based on the RB performance from Saturday night’s game, arguing that we had everything we needed to hold the fort for Breece…but it’s clear the Jets disagreed.
When you have the chance to add good football players, you take a look. So let’s take a look.
The Jets signed 4x Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook. The deal is a one-year agreement worth up to $8.6 million, key words there being ‘up to’.
The Jet’s offence now looks something like this, and that’s not including TEs Tyler Conklin and C.J. Uzomah.
It’s arguably the most loaded offence we’ve had in decades. If we can get consistent offensive line play, this unit has the potential to be top-5 in the NFL, and it’s been a long time since we’ve said that.
Until they prove they can gel on the field, it’s all potential. Having star players doesn’t mean you have a star unit.
Let’s talk about that Cook signing in a little more depth.
