Good morning! ☕☕
That extra cup of coffee is because I'd forgotten just how tiring it is to have a new born baby.
400 editions of TJW are in the bag. Thank you again to everyone who subscribes and convinces others to subscribe, your support is invaluable, especially now I’m working freelance on a full-time basis.
The Jets were back at OTA’s yesterday and there are a few notes to go through, and a lot of other small bits of news to share as we turn the calendar one month closer to the season starting.
The Jets are off today but they’ll be back tomorrow. They’ll then hold further practices on June 5th-6th and June 8th-9th before holding a mandatory minicamp on June 13th-15th, which represents the first real milestone in the Quinnen Williams standoff.
Today’s edition is a little heavy on the quotes, but I always find the coordinator pressers really interesting and there were a lot of great sound bites. I imagine you subscribe to TJW because you want those sound bites, so I’ here to provide so you don’t have to listen and transcribe them yourself.
👍 Aaron Rodgers wasn’t participating in team activities yesterday as he continues his rehab from a calf injury sustained last week. Robert Saleh said that the expectation is that he’ll either be ready to take part on Friday or at the latest next week, in other words, it’s really nothing to worry about. Rodgers was wearing what looked like a compression sleeve on his right calf, and he was seen casually tossing 60-yard passes with a flick of the wrist.
🧹 The injury didn’t stop Aaron from taking in a Broadway show with C.J. Uzomah, Tim Boyle, and Chris Streveler. I’ve never seen Wicked, but I hear it’s very good. Image courtesy of Rodgers's Instagram.
🔵🟠 Garrett Wilson had an outstanding day at camp according to reports, with the Jets star receiver making multiple sliding catches. After dominating on the football field, he headed to Citi Field to see the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1. Wilson was a high school teammate of Brett Baty, the budding Mets star 3rd basemen who played QB at Lake Travis in Texas. Wilson confirmed that had Baty wanted to play quarterback in college football, he could have: “When he came back in 9th grade, he was probably the best quarterback within 200 miles, he could sling it all over, I was running go routes and he would outthrow the coverage, it was fun to play with Brett”
