Good morning. ☕
Sometimes timing is everything. Less than 24 hours after the Dalvin Cook signing was confirmed by the national media, the Jets announced that Breece Hall was coming off the PUP list and would return to practice.
We have consistently been told that Breece will be ready for week one, just like we’ve been told that Duane Brown will be ready for week one. Well, right now Breece looks the more likely to be lining up come the game against Buffalo.
We’re going to get into some practice notes today, then some good quotes from the coaches and players.
Today the team will face Tampa Bay in a joint practice.
🤕 Injuries - Jeremy Ruckert was out following his injury in the Carolina game. Carl Lawson was still out (back) as was AVT (ankle) who also didn’t play against Carolina. Max Mitchell got banged up but he returned to practice and Aaron Rodgers clutched his calf following an interception but stayed in the session.
🐤 Robert Saleh confirmed that Dalvin Cook is expecting a baby, and probably won’t arrive at camp for another week or so. Will be interesting to see how long it takes him to work himself into game condition.
📈 ESPN has ranked the Jets as the number-one cornerback unit in the league: “Reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year and first-team All-Pro Sauce Gardner is arguably the league's best corner. Gardner wasn't tasked with shadowing top receivers as a rookie, but that's because he didn't need to with D.J. Reed -- one of the league's most underrated defensive backs -- on the other side of the field. Former fifth-round flier Michael Carter has developed into a solid slot man.”
