First of all, I apologise that this is a little later today. I’d say it was due to me partaking in some July 4th celebrations, but in reality, it was due to a good old-fashioned case of writer’s block.

It’s now been 178 days since the Jets last played football. That’s around 25 weeks, we publish 5 times a week, which means 100 newsletters since we actually had a game to talk about.

Luckily, this dead period is coming to an end!

🎉 Saw this piece yesterday on the Huntington Now website about the 80th Birthday celebrations for Super Bowl Winning star Emerson Boozer. It was a way for the town to honour a great man who worked as Huntinton’s parks and recreation director after finishing his career and opening up a bar.

🎥 The Jets still have yet to be officially confirmed as the focus of Hard Knocks this year, but that’s the way it’s trending. Packers President Mark Murphy wrote this in his latest monthly column for the official website: “I’m anxious to see the Jets and the many ex-Packers on “Hard Knocks” this summer — should be very entertaining.” It’s probably the worst-kept secret in football at the moment.

🚨 I wrote another piece for LWOS yesterday about the Jets, this time focusing on the free safety position. I really enjoy good safety play and I worry about the combination of Amos and Whitehead this year, to me that’s a glaring weakness for the Jets that teams will look to exploit. If you have the option to target Sauce/DJ on the outside, or Amos/Whitehead on the inside, the choice seems obvious.

🌽 Joe Blewett had a really interesting look at Randall Cobb over at Jets X-Factor, claiming there is plenty left in the tank. “While not the WR he once was, Cobb offers great depth to the Jets WR room. A thorough review of Cobb’s 2022 film proves that he has more left in the tank than many fans realize.”

It’s now 14 days until the Jets report back to Florham Park for their first day of camp.

The first day is a touch dull, as players go through their medical checks, have initial team meetings and just settle in.

Although we have been told by the Jets PR department that some players will be made available to the media.

So to celebrate the fact we’re just two weeks away. I’m going through 14 thoughts currently doing the rounds inside my head. Something I’ve mercilessly stolen from Jeff over at Mets Fix (Mets have won 3 in a row ya know. Comeback starts now).
